  3. ED SHEERAN OBLITERATES SPOTIFY RECORDS WITH 68.7M STREAMS IN A DAY Spotify has confirmed that the record’s tracks drew 56.73m streams worldwide yesterday (March 3) – a new record for first-day plays of an LP on the platform. Sheeran didn’t just beat the previous record, he demolished it. Before Divide came along, the record was held by The Weeknd’s Starboy, with 29m streams in November 2016. And that’s not all. In total, Sheeran tracks were played 68.7m times by fans on Spotify yesterday – destroying the previous record, set once again by The Weeknd with 40.3m streams in November 2016. Meanwhile, Sheeran also just broke his own record for plays of a single track on Spotify in 24 hours. Shape of You was streamed 10.12m times yesterday on the platform. Its previous record-setting high came on January 6, when it clocked up 7.94m Spotify streams. http://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/ed-sheeran-obliterates-spotify-record-with-68-7m-streams-in-a-day/

  9. TWENTY ONE PILOTS HAVE BROKEN ANOTHER CHART RECORD Platinum selling,Grammy award winning band, twenty one pilots, have spent 59 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart, more than anyone has ever achieved to do, this, with multiple songs, first one to take the place was 5x platinum selling hit Stressed Out, which spent 23 weeks at #1 on the chart, after that, the 3x platinum selling hit Ride, took that place for the span of 9 weeks, now, the 4x platinum selling hit Heathens occupies the same spot and has done so for 27 weeks. This year has kicked off in a great way for the duo, they accepted a Grammy award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the song Stressed Out earlier this month, they also received 6 new gold certifications by RIAA, these for album tracks The Judge, Polarize and Doubt, and for the singles Fairly Local, Heavydirtysoul and Lane Boy. Also, their number one album, Blurryface, spent several weeks at the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart and has not left the top 30 for 91 weeks, their previous album, Vessel, has also spent 131 consecutive weeks on the same chart. Talent WINNING. EDIT: As of today, Heathens is now officially certified 4x Platinum
  10. Alltime Track Chart based on the evaluation of all weekly charts of the United World Chart listed all songs with more than 6 million points last update: February 15, 2017 http://www.mediatraffic.de/alltime-track-chart.htm Rihanna 10 88 We Fould Love 98 Love The Way You Lie 122 Umbrella 158 Diamond 211 Please, Don't Stop The Music 215 Only Girl 246 Disturbia 329 This Is What You Came For 330 The Mondter 368 Stay Madonna 10 75 Like a Prayer 118 Hung Up 129 Vogue 156 Papa Don't Preach 206 4 Minutes 225 Music 251 La Isla Bonita 292 Who's That Girl 294 Like a Virgin 346 Frozen Katy Perry 6 81 Roar 130 California Gurls 141 I kissed a Girl 176 Hot&Cold 205 Firework 248 Dark Horse Mariah Carey 4 86 Without You 198 All I Want For Xmas 250 Fantasy 272 One Sweat Day Gaga 4 63 Poker Face 110 Bad Romance 183 Just Dance 312 Born This Way Adele 4 14 Rolling in the Deep 28 Hello 66 Someone Like You 296 Set Fire To The Rain Taylor Swift 3 116 Shake it off 314 Black Space 378 Trouble Shakira 2 Janet Jackson 2 Xtiana 2 Celine 2 Whitney 2 Pink 2 Britney 2 Kelly Rowland 1 Fun facts: Beyonce doesn't have a single song on the list while Brand (the boy is mine), Alicia (NoOne)... do. Taylor Swift has some kind of voodoo over the GP. Every since she went pop she became an instant WW smash. She just smashes at whatever she does.
  11. The 22 acts with more than one diamond album (which is difficult to get not everyone has that) inspired me to inquire about another feat. Is there a list of songs that hit #1 on every official chart for every country it charted in? All I can think of off the top of my head were: Whitney's Bodyguard soundtrack album and I will always love you hitting #1 on every chart Britney's Baby one more time peaking at #1 on every country it charted in. With a quick look at some stats and I found Albums peaking at #1 on every official chart WW: Bodyguard soundtrack - Whitney True blue - Madonna Confessions - Madonna Hard candy - Madonna All the way...a decade of songs - Celine Dion 21 - Adele 25 - Adele Singles peaking at #1 on every official chart WW: I will always love you My heart will go on Baby one more time Happy Yeah! Hips don't lie Because, LEGENDS! So far, Whitney and Celine repping for both albums and singles...they continue to shake the table and let the dust particles fall... Please let me know if there are more! EDIT: Removed Born this way (Gaga) Hello (Adele) after confirmation of non #1 peaks
  12. AALIYAH CAREER CSPC RESULTS So, after checking all figures, how many overall album sales equivalent each Aaliyah album achieved? Well, at this point we barely need to do the addition of all figures defined all over this article! In the following table, all categories display figures that way, e.g. in equivalent album sales. For example, Aaliyah singles released in digital format sold the equivalent of 50,000 albums – 500,000 downloads with a 10 to 1 weighting. Mind-blowing? Definitely not. Good? For sure. A lot can be said about Aaliyah artistic talents as well as about her impact over R&B and Pop music too. Many popular singers do quote her as a key influence. Most of what is said about her album sales though – figures repeated often a la 24, 32 or even 80 million – is insanely exaggerated still. She definitely sold well as a urban artist, but all figures point out that she never crossed over the main audience. Basically, kids born in late 80s may have been big fans of her, but their parents most likely never heard her name. Not all artists should be A-List stars though. A trio of consistent albums from nearly 4 million to over 6 million equivalent album sales each plus various successful singles outside of them is already a very nice showing. If the mess around her discography availability gets cleared in the future, the diva catalog sales pace will get much better too. Overall, Aaliyah moved 17,8 million equivalent albums. This tally is not at the level of most artists studied so far – most of them were absolute monsters through. You would be surprised at how many well known singers are under that mark. Following pages list the most successful songs of the artist as well as the full listing of all CSPC results compiled so far to better gauge the place of Aaliyah in the history of the music industry. As usual, feel free to comment and / or ask a question! Sources: IFPI, Spotify, Last.fm, Chartmasters.org. Visit Aaliyah's page for 15 pages of details on her stats: http://chartmasters.org/2017/02/cspc-aaliyah-popularity-analysis/13/
