After months of murmuring, the latest A-list ensemble project from The Big Short and Don’t Look Up filmmaker Adam McKay has hit Hollywood. Titled Average Height, Average Build, the project is being described as part serial killer thriller, part comedy, following a killer who uses political lobbyists to change laws in order to make it easier for him to kill, according to sources. Like all of McKay’s recent work, the project will tackle larger sociopolitical ills. Actors already attached include Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr., Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler. A date has now been set for the start of Shakira's fraud trial after an estimated 200 witnesses gave evidence. She could face a prison sentence of more than 8 years after she was charged with defrauding Spain's government of €14.5 million in taxes between 2012 and 2014. As well the prison sentence, state prosecutors want her to be slapped with a €23 million fine. The first day of the trial has been scheduled November 20 and is set to take place over 12 sessions with the last day on December 14. She will be asked to attend but may be allowed to return home after testifying from the stand at the start of the proceedings. Under Spanish law, a defendant facing more than 2 years in prison must be present at trial but the judge presiding over the case has allowed Shakira to be absent from nearly all the hearings due to her professional commitments and the fact that she now resides in the US. She is alleged to have claimed that she did not live in Spain between 2012 and 2014, while living with her then-partner Gerard Pique while he played for Barcelona. Shakira, previously tax resident in the Bahamas, only registered as a full-time tax resident in Spain in 2015 despite starting to date her ex Pique five years earlier. She even gave birth to her first son in a Barcelona hospital in 2013. People who spend more than 183 days in a year in Spain are considered Spanish residents for tax purposes. Spanish tax inspectors spent more than a year checking up on Shakira. The prosecution has cited records of visits to hair salons, a pregnancy clinic, and a rented recording studio in the city as evidence that Shakira was living in Barcelona. They concluded she had spent 242 days in Spain in 2012, 212 days in 2013 and 243 days in the country in 2014 before indicting her with six counts of tax fraud for those three years. source source

Molly Ringwald was much in demand in the 1980s, thanks to her starring roles in the films Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club. But she wasn’t interested in being a part of the romantic comedy Pretty Woman, which Julia Roberts turned into an Academy Award-nominated performance. “Julia Roberts was wonderful in it, but I didn’t really like the story,” Ringwald said in a recent interview with UK media outlet The Guardian. “Even then, I felt like there was something icky about it.” Pretty Woman tells the story of a prostitute (Roberts, playing the role of Vivian Ward) hired by a businessman, Richard Gere. The hired hand was to pose as his girlfriend for a trip, and they implausibly wind up falling in love. Ringwald felt the role didn’t fit her. “I didn’t really feel like darker roles were available to me,” she said. “The ones that I wanted to do, I didn’t get. I was too young for certain roles. I was at this weird in-between stage.” That, she confessed, cost her roles in the films Working Girl and The Silence of the Lambs, both monster hits. x
