  1. Hello lovelies! Can you believe I've been on ATRL for 10 years as of November?! WHAT. And doing Best Ofs for like 7 of those years. It's the most wonderful time of year: Best Of season! I'm so excited to see what you all enjoyed this year, and to see what I missed so that I can find some new amazing music. I'm excited to reveal that I'm building on my sellout era from 2020 and doing not only a full ranked EP and album list like last year, but also a full song ranking this year. God it fucking sucked doing LMAO. Here's the lineup: Worst 10 Albums of 2021 Best 10 EPs of 2021 (with honorable mentions) Best 100 Songs of 2021 (only one song per artist!) Best 50 Albums of 2021 (with honorable mentions) In addition, I will probably also list out my full ordered ranking of EPs and albums all in a chart, similar to last year. Absolutely not doing that for songs tho. We'll be starting with the worst albums, then the best EPs, then songs and albums will run concurrently. See you all tomorrow. Maybe. Hopefully. If not then definitely Sunday. BYEEEEEEE!
  2. Hello! Well, here we go. top 50 albums top 100 songs top 25 EPs Maybe some worst of material too Let's do it! ps. who wants to make me a banner?
  3. Yo, back again ladies and gentlemen. Wouldn't be a Best Of without some of my contribution. But guys i'm getting old so the thrill of seeking out 100s of newly released albums is dwindling down with it. I wasn't really that impressed with the year either but it did have some gems ofc. And with that said; Albums/Songs update coming within the week
  4. The acclaimed music critic is back with his first best of since 2019, beating covid and other personal challanges to bring you this serve. Includes: Fav Albums Fav Songs Fav Videos And More!
  5. 50... okay 60 songs, 50 albums, 10 eps... let's get into it
  6. Sup guys. It's that time of year again. Y'all know how it goes at this point. I'll be listing my favorite albums and songs from this year. If I'm being honest, this is going to be a very small list this time around since I didn't get to listen to a ton of albums, and of the albums I did listen to, some didn't have much staying power. Nonetheless, I found some real gems this year and I'd like to share them with you all All that being said, I haven't even begun making my lists and I still have a final next Friday to study for so I won't be officially starting until after next Friday lolz. But I might as well get this thread up and running I'm thinking 15 albums, 15 singles, and 15 album tracks with HM's thrown in for good measure. Stay tuned
  7. um hi welcome to the thread where I count down my top favorite songs/music videos of the year 2021 is truly special imo (b/c I barely survived from covid-19 ) anyways let's review last year's content with top 10 songs of 2010 (correction: oh wow 2020 lol) #10 Fiona Apple - Shameika #9 Miley Cyrus - Midnight Sky #8 Billie Eilish - everything i wanted #7 Tate McRae - you broke me first #6 BENEE - Supalonely #5 TONES AND I - DANCE MONKEY #4 Doja Cat - Say So #3 Lady Gaga, BLACKPINK - Sour Candy #2 Dua Lipa - Physical #1 Wallows - Are You Bored Yet? this year there would be a list for top 20 songs who are you expected to chart?

    Charlie's Best of 2021

Good morning, everyone. Welcome to my thirteenth YECD. It has been a quieter year than 2020 musically-wise, but still. There have been many good songs and albums throughout this year. In addition to both 2021 CDs, I will continue with the 2010s countdowns. Last year I revealed my 200 favorite albums of the 2010s. This year, I will reveal my Top 200 songs of the 2010s (2010-2019). Yes, I know there is no such a thing as year 0, but just for the sake of keeping up with the musical tradition, we'll keep it like that. This year, my five most listened music generes have been indie rock, dreampop/shoegaze, indie pop, neo-psychedelia and post-punk in that order respectively, so expect them to dominante most of this year's lists. This year will feature the following countdowns: Top 10 EPs of 2021 Top 100 albums of 2021 (+ close calls) Top 100 songs of 2021 (+400 close calls) Top 200 songs of the 2010s Looking forward to checking some of your lists as well. This year's schedule will be presented later today.

    JGib's Best of 2021

JGib's Best of 2021 | Starts 12.11.2021: Music list cutoff eligibility date for Top 360 of 2021: 12.06.2021. Welcome to the 2021 edition of the JGib's Best of lists here on ATRL. Musically, this has been a big year for Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Foo Fighters, Machine Gun Kelly, Glass Animals, Luke Combs, Dua Lipa, Adele, Avril Lavigne, Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean (both musically and for his open far-right views), and the return of S Club 7 lead singer Jo O'Meara, as they have released songs and/or albums. This year brought the demise of Morgan Wallen's fast-rising Country stardom, although Wallen has partially recovered from that fall from grace. This served as the year that the #FreeBritney movement got a big win, as Britney Spears's nearly 14-year conservatorship at the hands of Jamie Spears ended. COVID and its variants (Delta, Omicron, etc.) still dominated this year in the news worldwide, with vaccination efforts are growing across the world by the day by several companies, such as Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, AstraZeneca, Novavax, and others to get the COVID vaccine shots (and boosters) out to people across the world, with distribution to the nations varying. The COVID death toll continues its rise. As more and people across the world get vaccinated and boosted up, there remains an ugly undercurrent of anti-(COVID) vaccine propaganda being spread to people on social media outlets and news outlets across the political spectrum but is driven mainly by far-right actors featuring resistance to vaccination mandates issued by employers, schools, and local, state, and national jurisdictions, conspiracies about the COVID vaccines (eg. the false "vaccine shedding" conspiracy), and taking unproven "cures" such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. Even certain vaccinated folks-- mostly right-leaning ones-- are also against vaccine mandates. More and more places are enacting vaccine mandates-- either unilaterally or for certain institutions-- such as Australia, New Zealand, New York City and Los Angeles in the US, Germany, and Austria. While we're still on that note, COVID restrictions were aplenty at the beginning of the year, and depending on where you reside in the world, the non-vaccine mandate COVID restrictions (such as capacity limits, closure of in-person operations, or mask mandates) have either dwindled to almost nothing (many red states in the US, esp. Florida, Texas, and Missouri), kept somewhat intact (most blue states in the US, esp. New York, Illinois, Oregon, California; mainly mask mandates), or almost fully intact (most Canadian provinces, New Zealand, Australia, Germany). Abortion rights in the US are in very serious jeopardy, especially in red states like Texas, Mississippi, and Ohio. Texas passed the highly insane 6-week abortion ban law SB8 with bounty hunting provisions, and a big case at the Supreme Court looms with Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization regarding the 15-week ban in law HB1510, which seeks to overturn both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. A ruling on Dobbs is expected to happen most likely in June 2022, and it's expected that Roe and Casey will be overturned in some form, meaning that at least 25 states-- largely GOP-controlled states-- will have abortion banned or seek to ban it within their borders. Thankfully, in blue states like California, Illinois, and New York, abortion access and reproductive freedom are greatly protected by state law and such states will seek to enact further protections on the right to obtain abortion. If anti-abortion forces are successful in getting Roe and Casey overturned outright or weakened significantly (keeping those two cases as settled law but rendered as though the cases are overturned) in Dobbs, then birth control, contraception, and LGBTQ+ rights (marriage equality and trans rights especially) could be on the chopping block at the court. The QAnon delusion cult's conspiracies show no signs of stopping, despite the alleged "Q" no longer posting to 8kun. The JFK Jr. reinstatement whackos have been camping out at Dealey Plaza in Dallas in the last month-plus. A small group of QAnon conspiracists have turned on Trump, mainly for being too pro-vaccine; however, most Q cultists still worship him and wrongly believe that he is the rightfully elected President that they want to see reinstated (Trump won't be reinstated and he lost the election legitimately). January 6th, 2021 was a dark day in American history, as a large mob of far-right Stop The Steal extremists fueled by conspiracies about a "stolen election" aided by Donald Trump's lies about the 2020 Presidential election outcome stormed the Capitol in DC in a bid to deny the certification of President Joe Biden (D)'s election to the Presidency in order to illegally keep Trump (R) in office past January 20th. After a long delay and 2 objections (AZ, PA), Biden was officially certified as the President by a joint session to ratify the Electoral College's results. The aftermath led to arrests and public shunnings of the insurrection participants and a 2nd impeachment of Donald Trump that he sadly got acquitted for in the Senate for his role in inciting the insurrection. Most GOP politicians and their conservative media allies embrace the Big Lie that Trump "won" the election that he lost fair and square. On the sports side, Arsenal missed out on European qualification for the first time since the 1994-95 season, before the Wenger era. Manchester City won the Premier League. Chelsea won the UEFA Champions League and Villarreal won the Europa League on penalties over Manchester United. This year saw the addition of the third-tier UEFA Europa Conference League. Tampa Bay Lightning repeated as Stanley Cup champions in the COVID-shortened NHL season. The Atlanta Braves won the World Series. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl in the NFL. The Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA Finals. NYCFC won the 2021 MLS Cup on penalties over Portland Timbers. Canada won the women's footy Gold in the COVID-delayed Tokyo Olympics (the USWNT medaling Bronze), with Brazil doing the same on the men's side. In my home state of Illinois, longtime House Speaker Michael Madigan (D) resigned after a long run in the State House, chairing the Democratic Party of Illinois, and his long tenure as House Speaker after multiple scandals have emerged in recent years. A new President took over America on January 20th, with Joe Biden (D) defeating the twice-impeached (once impeached at the time of election) incumbent "President" Donald Trump (R) to become the nation's 46th President. Kamala Harris (D) took the reigns as the 49th Vice President and the 1st Black and Asian person to occupy the role and the 1st woman to occupy one of the top 2 positions of power in the US (a woman has never been President of the US, although it came close to happening in 2016). The Democrats kept a majority in the House (albeit a much smaller majority) and flipped control of the Senate via a double-barreled runoff in Georgia (Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff) and the tiebreaking 101st vote via VP Harris. 15. By far the biggest year of discoveries for myself. Though, I was probably a bit too open with listening to music. Lots of duds, but there were some very nice finds too. The eligibility period for my Best Of list are things released between October 30, 2020 – October 28, 2021. Previous Best Of Lists: 2019 • 2020
  16. hi friends, we've made it ? since once again I don't have the mental capacity to update the thread consistently, I will be dumping both my album and song lists ...whenever they are ready ? (most likely in two or three weeks from now). keeping it short and sweet, but before that, I'm gonna have to make up my mind and get everything ready. in the meantime, I will be lurking in your threads (and leaving some comments eventually) ? cheers!

  18. Welcome to ATRL's Best of 2021! It's the most wonderful time of the year, and it's time for you to give us your best. You are invited to share all of the music, entertainment, and moments that defined your year. Guidelines for Best of 2021: 1. It's your show You get one thread per year to share your stuff. No one else gets to vote on your lists and countdowns, your thread is all about you. 2. Start with an intro Use your first post to tell us what you're going to do. Will you list your top songs, singles, videos, albums, artists, concerts, TV shows, movies, video games, whatever? It's all up to you. Let us know first, and get into the actual list later. 3. Don't post all at once You want to post your countdown(s) in installments. For example, if you have one list of 50 songs, post it in daily blocks of 5 or so. The suspense makes things interesting. 4. Use words and pictures Your thread will be more fun to follow if you put some effort into it. Describe every item on your list with at least a full sentence. If you add pictures and graphics, that's even better. 5. Actively participate We encourage you to support each other. Reply with your comments to let them know you're reading. If someone is taking the time to read your thread, try and return the favor. Be supportive and have fun. 6. Limited time only This year, the Best of 2021 forum will be open until January 10th, 20212 Finish up before then! If you need inspiration, take a look at ATRL's Best of 2020!
  19. Hello everyone, welcome to witness1.3's 2021 year-end countdown. Although I am not very active on ATRL, I love making my own music charts every week. I love sharing them at the end of the year and looking at everyone's too! I will be listing my Top 100 singles, Top 50 albums, and Top 50 artists of 2021. Here is how they are calculated and their respective countdowns: Lastly, here is the tentative schedule I plan to release the charts. I hope to actually finish this (or they extend Best Of for a couple weeks) because I will be traveling to go to the opening night of PLAY

  23. Here we are. I think I'll only have the capacity to go through the Top 100 Songs of 2021. Zero albums have had a hold on me but I generally don't have beef with this years in music. Those who follow, know that my taste changes all the time so you just won't know what will make the cut but I will say the indie rock girls, rap girls and R&B artists really carried this year. This may be my final countdown as I've been doing this for 12 years and getting burned out from this, so I may even push through to do a Best of the Best of countdown of my favorites from the last 11 years. I'm sure my taste and feelings on many songs along with new discoveries after my CDs would shift things up. The Lists: Previous Years #1s: 2009: Lady Gaga, "Poker Face" · 2010: Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, "Round and Round" · 2011: Beyonce, “Countdown” · 2012: Miguel, “Adorn” · 2013: Arcade Fire, “Reflektor” · 2014: FKA Twigs, “Two Weeks” · 2015: Tame Impala, "Let It Happen" · 2016: The 1975, “Somebody Else” · 2017: Sampha, “Plastic 100’C” · 2018: Ravyn Lenae, “Sticky” · 2019: FKA Twigs, “Cellophane” · 2020: Chloe x Halle, “Forgive Me” · Best of 2021: Top 100 Songs
