    JGib's Best of 2022

JGib's Best of 2022 | Starts 12.09.2022: Music list cutoff eligibility date for Top 360 of 2022: 12.05.2022. Welcome to the 2022 edition of the JGib's Best of lists here on ATRL. Musically, this has been a big year for Red Hot Chili Peppers, Imagine Dragons, Muse, Taylor Swift, Luke Combs, Adele, Avril Lavigne, Lizzo, Cole Swindell, and Kelsea Ballerini as they have released songs and/or albums. Paramore and My Chemical Romance came back this year with new music after several year layoffs. This year, we witnessed the resurfacing of old tracks making it huge, such as Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) and Tame Impala's The Less I Know The Better. With the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, several GOP-ran states saw it as an excuse to push through bans on not just abortion but also birth control, contraception, and even in vitro fertilization. In the aftermath of the Dobbs decision, 6 states had ballot referendums on abortion access (Kansas in August, and Michigan, Kentucky, California, Montana, and Vermont in November) and the pro-choice side won in all 6. The overturning of Dobbs served to hurt the Republicans in the recent midterms in the USA. LGBTQ+ rights have faced massive attacks in the USA this year, especially trans rights, LGBTQ+ inclusion in schools, and drag shows. Florida's heinously bigoted Don't Say Gay or Trans law (HB1557), Texas Department of Family and Protective Services' memo to investigate parents who support gender-affirming care for their trans children, the rise of fame for anti-LGBTQ+ extremists such as Matt Walsh, Christopher Rufo, Jaimee Michell (who runs Gays Against Groomers), and Chaya Raichik (who runs Libs of TikTok), attacks on drag show culture, banning trans people from competing in competitions matching their gender identity instead of assigned birth gender (usually used to ban trans women from women's sports and rarely for trans men from men's sports), and bans on gender-affirming healthcare services for trans youth and even young adults are just some of the highlights that are part of the far-right culture war seeking erasure of the existence of LGBTQ+ people and gender nonconformity under the false guise of "protecting children's innocence." These extremists have also deceitfully appropriated the term "groomer" as an anti-LGBTQ+ slur to demonize the LGBTQ+ community and their supporters, encouraged attacks on children's hospitals and doctors providing gender-affirming care, and incited violence against drag shows and drag queen story hours. In the recent US midterm elections, the GOP narrowly flipped control of the House and the Democrats kept and even increased their majority to an outright 51-49 one in the Senate as they flipped the Pennsylvania seat up with John Fetterman (D), and also flipped 3 governorships (Arizona, Maryland, and Massachusetts) while losing 1 (Nevada). This is due to the backlash of Dobbs and real threats to democracy (many GOPers being election deniers), although lingering inflation and crime issues also factored into the equation. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was a big story in its own right, as Russia invaded and stole more territories that belonged to Ukraine, such as Kherson, Mariupol, and Zaporizhzhia, in addition to illegally occupying Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk. Ukraine has managed to fend off and repel the Russians back and even got territories stolen from them back during the course of the year. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is seen as a hero trying to save Ukraine's sovereignty. COVID and its variants, Omicron in particular, still dominated this year in the news worldwide, albeit not to the frequency of the previous two years. As more and people across the world get vaccinated and boosted up, there remains an ugly undercurrent of anti-(COVID) vaccine propaganda being spread to people on social media outlets and news outlets across the political spectrum but is driven mainly by far-right actors featuring resistance to vaccination mandates issued by employers, schools, and local, state, and national jurisdictions, conspiracies about the COVID vaccines (eg. the false "vaccine shedding" conspiracy), and taking unproven "cures" such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. These undercurrents are also impacting other vaccinations as well. What remained of COVID mitigations mostly faded away this year in the USA, such as the lifting of mask mandates. Dr, Anthony Fauci has announced his retirement after a long tenure of service in public health, including being the main national face of the COVID pandemic. Queen Elizabeth II died in September of this year, leading to massive impacts on life in England, the Commonwealth nations, and the world. Narcissistic sociopath Elon Musk bought Twitter, and once officially in charge, he did everything he could to ruin Twitter by reinstating banned accounts of right-wing figures like Donald Trump, Project Veritas, Roger Stone, Laura Loomer, Jordan Peterson, and Marjorie Taylor Greene (personal account) and instituting a pay to play system for verification or to remain verified. On the sports side, Manchester City defended their Premier League title by a single point over Liverpool for the 2nd time within the last 5 seasons. Arsenal returned to European play, as they finished 5th, meaning they went to the Europa League. This year, the Gunners are currently leading the Premier League going into the World Cup break. Liverpool beat Chelsea in the FA Cup on penalties. Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League over Liverpool, Eintracht Frankfurt won the Europa League over Rangers on penalties, and Roma won the first-ever installment of the UEFA Europa Conference League over Feyenoord. Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup over defending champions France in penalties. In the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche stopped the Tampa Bay Lightning's three-peat bid of winning the Stanley Cup by winning it all.. The Houston Astros won the World Series over the Philadelphia Phillies in the MLB. The Los Angeles Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals to win the Super Bowl in the NFL. The Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals. The Los Angeles Galaxy won the 2022 MLS Cup on penalties over Philadelphia Union. St. Louis City SC's 1st team debut in the MLS will be this upcoming MLS season. 2. Welcome! Last year, I was a bit dramatic and thought I was done with 'Best of' but somehow I've built some motivation to stay committed. Work and life has been kicking my ******* ass all year - I'm sure you all can relate. This is tedious work to do but it's one of those traditions on this ran down board that still brings me join. So let's go! Music is 2022: I'm not saying she will be number one, but I'm saying Beyoncé ruined music by putting narcotics in that damn album. There was nothing leading up to and after this release that has kept me glued to a project. There's so many folx I haven't gotten to. So for this countdown I'm literally STRETCHING, REACHING, anything I can find. I'm talking 3 play counts are about to make my top 20 and I'm gonna have to sabotage some Rena' tracks to be fair. Fun. Top 200 Songs Top Albums Worst of the Year Your Picks - As I am checking out your countdowns daily, I will be sharing which new discoveries I will be playlisting. Top '23 Rising - As 2022 is closing out I'll be sharing the top 23 late bloomers and new discoveries in real time that didn't make the cut but have a shot in 2023 (because I literally have no real tracking period). Top 50 Throwbacks - Ranking of my most played pre-2021 songs played in 2022 with the help of my last.fm Previous Years #1s: 2009: Lady Gaga, "Poker Face" · 2010: Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, "Round and Round" · 2011: Beyonce, “Countdown” · 2012: Miguel, “Adorn” · 2013: Disclosure, "White Noise (feat. AlunaGeorge)" · 2014: FKA Twigs, “Two Weeks” · 2015: Tame Impala, "Let It Happen" · 2016: The 1975, “Somebody Else” · 2017: Sampha, “Plastic 100’C” · 2018: Ravyn Lenae, “Sticky” · 2019: FKA Twigs, “Cellophane” · 2020: Chloe x Halle, “Forgive Me” · 2021: Cosha, “No Kink in the Wire” · 2022: TBD

  4. So last year I was too lazy to make mine and I really regret it now considering so many great songs came out in 2021 and I discovered a whole bunch. With that being said, I guess this can be the sequel to much my inaugraul 2020 rundown. Nothing too fancy as Im no CEO of graphic design, but I hope my commentary keeps some of yall interested! Like my last one, this will just be a countdown of my favorite songs released in 2022 (which was tough after a certain point cause there were songs that came out in like November, December last year that were all the rage but missed the cut- aka "Until I Found You" and the whole Encanto soundtrack) and a whole randomized list of my favorite newly discovered tracks (which consist of songs that may be 2021 releases, but ones at least released in Q1 and Q2). Without further ado and coming very soon to you... GreatestLoveofAll's 40 Greatest Songs of 2022 & GreatestLoveofAll's 2022 Discoveries

  6. four lists only albums no graphic no banner, drop n' go - sponsored by albumoftheyear.org and rateyourmusic.com my links for other genre lists - https://rateyourmusic.com/~Mhutto6214 //// https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/mhutto6214/lists/ tink for only embed music in my page and vibing Disclaimer: most releases of this year are considered great while not close to their magnum opus and few genres that have been getting attention to get more exposure toward the rest of decade: alt-rock shoegaze, str8 folktronica tiktok, grindcore, glitch pop, etc. and look like pop rock/pop punk on their edge to be non-popular likely next year onward. with how non-dominant trend goes on and most people just out of pandemic phase, it's going take time to have those pop moments superstardom things again and matter of time until gen-z start to take control of music industry without millennium hags bothering on chart. love to see how impactful bad bunny and rosalia are on western music, they are fresh and cool to stan. just need few acts follows that trend and we could see the potential of pop music again rather than MPG taylor swift beyonce lady gaga rihanna every years like bring someone new please. Zella day - Sunday in Heaven is pop excellence i got her on this list instead, check it out. https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/mhutto6214/list/95223/my-top-15-pop-albums-2022/ Honor Mentions over 2000 albums ive listened this year and make me realize i should go back to pop radio as where i belong, love other genres too like electronic/dance, metal, jazz etc. and most likely dive in more interesting obscene genres, field recording, free jazz or neo-psychedelia more. here are honor mentions. Lykke Li - Eyeye realistism movie concept she pull off is well-made whether she intended or not but i like it a lot, her last album as she said oh well XYLØ - Unamerican Beauty messy visuals and she sound to be anti lana-que for some reasons. few tracks are super bop and fun enough to get notice Kim Petras - Problématique remind me of 00's pop album where singles are bop and the rest is pure fillers but they should release the album lbr, such a shame. Girlpool - Forgiveness for me, its really emotional edge of ending relationship record where they admit to move on but cant let go. they disbanded after album out. Tennyson - Rot subtle pop that he made just how to think joji should be at his point of his career but never succeed. adorable record love this a lot Chloe Moriondo - Suckerpunch occasionally keep coming back to this album, love her on unapologetic pop and all her three albums arent sound the same, massive bops. Suki Waterhouse - I Can't Let Go something about this lana carbon copy that i love so much yet it's pretty basic with all consider. also her viral help her exposure too, looking forward to her. Hayley Kiyoko - Panorama, Lights - PEP both albums overshadowed and vanished some points because it's bad in general, i like them though they are not all bad no matter how others said. Tom Aspaul - Life in Plastic, Years & Years - Night Call gay guys dont mean they always make parody music, both albums are really bopping and understand what UK cig need to do. Tate McRae - I Used to Think I Could Fly, Charlie Puth - CHARLIE frustrating over both albums mismanagement, i mean they are complete done rollout after album dropped and it doesnt paid off at all Joss Stone - Never Forget My Love HUGE underrated, given how stretch her vocal cord and pumping whether she pull it off or not. her high pitching still really good and enjoyable record needless to say. worst of the year most artists who expected to make bad music bad albums, dababy, the chainsmokers, or machine gun kelly (i do like mainstream sellout tho), are excluded. only for those surprisingly flop or make exceptional worst album. late added just realized ive missed : The Weather Station - How Is It That I Should Look at the Stars sadly it's not giving anything and complete fail on whatever she tried on this album after ignorant masterpiece, sleeping pill 10. Jack Harlow - Come Home the Kids Miss You quite understand he wants to follow drake footstep and made exactly the type made drake famous but sooooooo corny 9. Mitski - Laurel Hell, Banks - Serpentina that's okay to come out of high expectation and having bad results but they will serve on next albums for sure. 8. Bloc Party - Alpha Games, alt-J - The Dream past their prime long century ago and their music hasnt evolved at all cost. horrible mix horrible everything for both 7. Superorganism - World Wide Pop the allegation severely end this band as well as brockhampton ones. album struggle to reach the end and too unpolished , sad. 6. Giveon - Give or Take thank you justine skye for end his career once and for all, mediocrity is the word, it's so bland and unmemorable. 5. Calvin Harris - Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 when you know you dont want to make this type of album again and make it on fan demand. the lack of soul and heart on this. 4. Black Eyed Peas - Elevation, Akon - TT Freak backfire on tiktok baited and they just make new album for whatever reason to get viral. unlistenable, trash dated 2009 things 3. Panic! at the Disco - Viva Las Vengeance worth mention that at least singles are okay for radio but the rest is falsetto go to heaven and hell, ear bleeding fest, oh brendon. 2. Coi Leray - Trendsetter as for someone who actually like her, it's really bad decision to read lyrics throughout this one and cant stop laughing over them. 1. Todrick Hall - Algorhythm i love his albums, haus party are bops so as femuline and the rest of catalog. major disappoint following the news and album has no redeem with dated 80's house that really miserable to listen and chunky for contents. horrible person worst album of the year. my non-ATRL year end list non-description non ordered and made from last month to my own list on websites but post again if you interest to dive in more genre madness, these are considered my best albums overall all genres and most for music-crazes. Rosalía - MOTOMAMI - neoparro, reggaeton, latin pop Crestfallen Dusk - Crestfallen Dusk - black metal, hill country blue Daniel Romano - La Luna - progressive country, baroque pop Kurws - Powięź - noise rock, no wave, math rock Munly & The Lupercalians - Kinnery of Lupercalia: Undelivered Legion - gothic country, folk rock The Garden - Horseshit on Route 66 - art punk, experimental rock YAYA KIM - a.k.a YAYA - jazz pop Pensées Nocturnes - Douce Fange - avant-garde metal, tango, dark cabaret Lancey Foux - LIFE IN HELL - Rage rap, Alt R&B Terrence Dixon & Jordan GCZ - Keep in Mind I'm Out of My Mind - ambient techno Wojciech Rusin - Syphon - electroacoustic, modern classical Tanya Tagaq - Tongues - post-industrial, ritual ambient Jameszoo - Blind - nu jazz, free jazz Gonemage - Handheld Demise - chiptune, avant-garde metal Moor Mother - Jazz Codes - abstract hip-hop, jazz rap Clara De Asís / Ryoko Akama - sisbiosis - reductionism, field recording The Tangent - Songs From The Hard Shoulder - progessive rock Bob Vylan - Bob Vylan Presents The Price Of Life - punk rock, rap rock Jesca Hoop - Order of Romance - chamber pop, indie folk High Castle Teleorkestra - The Egg That Never Opened - avant prog, muzică lăutărească Lambchop - The Bible - Art pop, indietronica Current Value - Platinum Scatter - drum & bass Tulipa Ruiz - Habilidades Extraordinárias - psychedelic soul, MPB Don Bolo - BAHAMUT - Jazz rock, experimental, avant prog Mamaleek - Diner Coffee - experimental rock, noise rock The Orielles - Tableau - neo-psychedelia, dream pop Weston Olencki - Old Time Music - EAI, Appalachian Folk Music Rae Morris - Rachel@Fairyland - chamber pop Shygirl - Nymph - alt r&b, uk bass Culprate - αριθμός τέσσερα (no.4) - IDM, Folktronica (my personal album of the year) Best of ATRL Capitalism Pop Girls 2022 this is it, specializing for ATRL pop girls to have their moment of the year, since i am tired to convince what albums are good or bad and left off lot of bait/bad/mediocre albums away, instead rely on sale and numbers stat more than quality but you know it's for ATRL. 30. 7. WELCOME TO LUCKYFORK'S BEST OF 2022 Hi everyone! It's that time of the year again and I'm so excited to share my Best of lists this time because I have put so much effort throughout the whole year in listening, rating and curating these lists. I genuinely have dedicated hours and hours to this because it's something that I genuinely enjoy doing. I have created my own system for rating these albums and it might not make a lot of sense to everyone since I use too many decimals (yes a 7.7 is very different to a 7.8 I don't wanna hear it!). I listened to about 200 releases this year and I have genuinely enjoyed rating all of them and curating these lists to culminate in this Best of that I put a lot of effort in aesthetically too. I hope you enjoy!

  10. Welcome to ATRL's Best of 2022! It's the most wonderful time of the year, and it's time for you to give us your best. You are invited to share all of the music, entertainment, and moments that defined your year. Guidelines for Best of 2022: 1. It's your show You get one thread per year to share your stuff. No one else gets to vote on your lists and countdowns, your thread is all about you. 2. Start with an intro Use your first post to tell us what you're going to do. Will you list your top songs, singles, videos, albums, artists, concerts, TV shows, movies, video games, whatever? It's all up to you. Let us know first, and get into the actual list later. 3. Don't post all at once You want to post your countdown(s) in installments. For example, if you have one list of 50 songs, post it in daily blocks of 5 or so. The suspense makes things interesting. 4. Use words and pictures Your thread will be more fun to follow if you put some effort into it. Describe every item on your list with at least a full sentence. If you add pictures and graphics, that's even better. 5. Actively participate We encourage you to support each other. Reply with your comments to let them know you're reading. If someone is taking the time to read your thread, try and return the favor. Be supportive and have fun. 6. Limited time only This year, the Best of 2022 forum will be open until January 8th, 2023 Finish up before then! If you need inspiration, take a look at ATRL's Best of 2021!

    BlackoutZone's Best of 2022

hello blackoutzonesters, this year i decided to grace you with a big fat dump because the world is ending and nobody has the time to catch up daily with some homosexual p4k-wannabe lists etc. etc. some points: - eligibility period was dec 1st 2021 - nov 30th 2022 - if the song has b-sides that i liked as well, it's in the same place - i cant rank albums idk but yall always ask about them so i threw a few - no i dont care that op is unreadable - apparently my shift key is broken
  15. HI EVERYONE last year I did a dump but I will deliver consistent updates this year. Stay tuned.

  17. Hello sisterns! This is my 3rd time doing a Best Of, and i have to say that 2022 was definitely a step up music wise over 2021. Graphics and banners aren’t my talent so don’t expect them, only expect taste Also I’ll be limiting 3 entries per Artist so a certain someone doesn’t clog up my whole list I’ll be doing 1) Top 50 Songs of 2022 (songs that were released in 2021 but took off in 2022 WILL count - I’ll be basing my list based off of Quality & what I’ve had on Rihpeat throughout the year) 2) Top 10 Albums of 2022 3) Top 10 Worst Albums of 2022 4) 10 “old” bops discovered in 2022 ——— If anyone wants a sense of what my taste is like, here’s a lil recap from prior years Top 10 Songs of 2021 Top 10 Songs of 2020
  18. Hello everyone. MLD here. Been 2 years since I have actually done a best of. But it's time I came back. And after the year I have had, it's good to just be celebrating the good parts of 2022. I've been through so much personal hell this year that I'm surprised to still be standing. I suffered at least three mental breakdowns during the year, and experienced a bunch of trauma, depression and loneliness. I was gaslit and villainized by friends I thought I had made and then on top of that, went on to lose my Dad and my dog within the span of 4 months. And I also went through the trauma of a fire that could have DEFINITELY been worse than it was. So the amount of tears I cried this year was probably enough to fill the Mississippi River or Pacific Ocean. I could have given up on myself...and killed myself or walked out on my life. But I didn't. I am still trying to make things better each day, trying each day. I take happiness from the little things. Those little things, the music, the Youtube videos, etc, will be featured in this year's Best Of. My hope is that by celebrating the good that DID happen in 2022 in spite of all the tragic and horrific things going on around it, I can close what was a horrible year for me and move into 2023 with a fresh mind and I'm hopeful for a more triumphant year. This year we will be revealing these: Top 100 Songs of 2022 Top 10 Album Tracks of 2022 Top 10 Youtubers of 2022 Top 20 Worst Songs of 2022 (After the year I had, I should be allowed to roast something) And more if I feel like it. Because of my work schedule I will be posting updates each night, unless I am off in which I will do them earlier in the day. But I will be sure to comment in other best ofs during the day. I will leave off today's intro with the song that in the 2 years it has been out has really grown in power and it's this is me trying from folklore. That song has made me want to cry along to it but also sing it, which keep in mind, if you know me, you know that I love to sing despite having a pretty messy voice. The amount of emotional turmoil and pain can be felt here, and I felt heard in 2022 because of it. However, I can also say that there will be tracks from albums released this year that also hit it for me, and they will be addressed later. For now, let's start with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bdLTPNrlEg
  19. Hi everyone! This is year is the first I'm going to do this best of. We're going to have two main categories: - Top 100 Songs - Top 50 Albums (still not sure if it's going to be 50 or less) For both the singles and the albums, I'm using a mix of number of plays throughout the year and a personal ranking, so it's NOT just a list of what I played the most this year (even though it's mostly based on that). For the songs list I'm limiting myself to official singles. It would be impossible for me to rank also album tracks, and it would have a lot less of diversity. I'm gonna highlight my favourite overall tracks from an album in the albums list tho. Hope you'll enjoy my taste (which I already know is immaculate, but it would be nice to have validation from you) and I'll start immediately with a first list of 25 tracks who didn't make the top 100.
