    Adam Lambert - “Wet Dream”

Gurl, why is this not on streaming services? These gays all making me have to get on SoundCloud.
  2. German streaming units are even worse. Lana (and many MPGs) have not gotten a certification there since UV. Much harder than during pure sales era. BTD was certified 800K in 2019 and this year it is certified 900K. Only 100K catalog units in nearly half a decade and a certain amount of them come from vinyls/CDs even though the album has been doing extremely great in Spotify and other streaming platforms.
  3. I mean even if SOS took that record from Thriller the GP would still think Thriller has that record. Modern Billboard records just don't matter as much anymore and don't really get any news coverage anyway in a social media world. Obviously still a major moment for SZA but none of it matters anymore with streaming since it's much easier now to never hear a juggernaut era unlike in the 80s where big eras were inescapable.

Billie Eilish - 'HIT ME HARD AND SOFT'

That's what she sold Friday Saturday and Sunday excluding streaming from Sunday I think
  5. Idk what they should or shouldn't do but it's crystal clear that it's way easier to have longevity now. Just think about the fact that a lot of people that are streaming SOS are streaming since the month it was released. Now think about pure sales, people bought Michael album on release month and kept listening it for YEARS. It didn't matter, even with the fact that they listened it for years all it counted was that 1 copy bought on release month. So the fact that he was able to stay that many time on BB's top 10 meant that more people (different people) wanted to buy his album. when the subject is streaming, it can mean more people ofc but it ALSO can mean that the same people are still streaming it all the time. not that more and more people are discovering it. Of course SOS is extremely successful but when it comes to longevity it's truly not the same thing. it's way easier now.
  6. This one's streaming on D+ now. Kinda scared to dive in.

    Imagine Dragons - 'LOOM'

They are really trying to fit into streaming era

    Lady Gaga

Hi Shamelessly plugging our Chromatica Ball Film watch party/live react this Saturday 05/25 on our Gaga discord: https://discord.com/invite/QjYWVkwkyc 💗⚔️tcbf-hbo is the channel for the film but feel free to explore! See you there!
  9. Heart Attack is 5xplat. Also, Confident was released on Island so they upgraded the sales, HR doesn't care about that stuff Peaks mean nothing. DEMI spent 51 weeks on BB200 while Confident 10 weeks less, even tho the promotion was way bigger and better. It didn't help Confident was released closer to streaming era, DEMI was released in iTunes era, of course it has more streams

Billboard: The Most Successful American Idol Contestants

Adam Lambert used to be my 5th favorite artist back when he released original music on streaming services. 4 quality albums. He was kinda coming for Selena's neck with Trespassing and The Original High back in the day. There was a pretty substantial period of time where i said he might be my favorite artist.

    Lana Del Rey

Tunnel did more than Honeymoon. HM only stayed on the charts for 16 weeks and OB for 41. The streaming numbers for HM were extremly poor most of the time. It only picked up a few months ago

    Beyoncé

I was checking Dua Lipa's numbers on Spotify for her latest album and yeah we need to cut Beyoncé some slack right now. The fact that Dua Lipa is the artist that they should compare Taylor Swift's with because she an active pop star while Beyoncé has a 25+ years career and is basically an indie artist now but still pulling more streaming numbers than Dua Lipa is crazy.

Bigger Peak in Europe: Taylor vs Gaga

For years Taylor was called local because she wasn't big in Europe, now she's the biggest pop star in Europe smashing in streaming, album sales and touring. It's clear Taylor had the bigger peak everywhere else but would you say she's also bigger than Gaga was in Europe? From a UK perspective I think Taylor is bigger, but I don't know about elsewhere.
  15. Maybe, what it's truth is that streaming really inflates the success of the albums nowadays and their longevity and make them seem bigger than what they really are.
  16. Absoluely. Streaming is a scam.
  17. Fortnight is a perfectly acceptable lead single, it debuted with over 600 points and broke streaming records - and is continuing to sell the album with great longevity. The only other tracks that might've worked better are Down Bad and Broken Heart, and one of those is coming soon as single #2.
  18. A Taste Of Honey - Ain't Nothin' But A Party I was ready to enjoy this, and I kind of did, but it got a little repetitive for me
  19. 1 Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT (41,717) [29,217 physicals, 11,431 streaming, 1,069 downloads] * 2 ZAYN - ROOM UNDER THE STAIRS (12,685) * 3 Taylor Swift - THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (12,266) 4 Slash - Orgy of the Damned (5,031) * 5 Beth Gibbons - Lives Outgrown (4,906) * BILLIE already outdebuted HTE

NewJeans - "How Sweet / Bubble Gum" + "Supernatural / Right Now"

I absolutely hate the release strategy or releasing pre-release songs to YouTube and not streaming I would've listened to BG so many more times on Spotify....I exclusively listen to Spotify on my commutes, at work, while exercising, etc. I haven't event listened to any of the aespa tracks except supernova for the same reason
  21. This is a moot point when the streaming era will end with far more diamond records than in the past, and this is an undebatable fact, it doesnt matter how long it takes to occur (although the speed is rapidly speeding up each year). Ultimately the fairest thing to do would be to have all-time pure lists and all-time streaming lists. Nobody would be hurt in the process.

    Best Song on "Chromatica"?

I need it on streaming proper agree if you removed the dorian part lol - it scares me

  24. Yes, they would still be successful. But they wouldn't be AS successful on the charts. That's the point people are trying to make. Now, nearly every single play is accounted for since music is so accessible. Before, tons of albums were purchased second hand, borrowed, rented from shops and libraries.... Yet only the first original sale was counted. And don't forget how many million compilation and soundtrack albums were sold. Now, it doesn't matter what album you stream a song from, it all contributes to the overall consumption of the song and the artist who performs it. There's a reason why every chart record will eventually be broken. It is even worse for singles considering record labels would press limited amounts of cd singles in the 90s and early 2000s (or not release a physical single at all). Prior to more accurate technology in the 90s, the single charts were extremely fast moving because once a song peaked, labels would encourage shops to stop reporting the song as a best seller so their next single could be promoted. So the potential success of many hit songs and albums was literally capped while now it's endless. Vinyl era = people spend money and purchase an album once Cassette era = people spend money and purchase an album once CD era = people spend money and purchase an album once Streaming era = music is free or extremely cheap and every play contributes to an album or song's consumption Do you see the difference? Also separating those different formats into eras doesn't make sense for this conversation anyways. Many of those formats coexisted or heavily overlapped. Are we going to discuss the 8-track "era" as well? The bottom line is that album and single consumption during the physical era was very different from now.
  25. I get the whole "Vote Biden or you're gonna die!" argument that people keep beating me over the head with, so I'm voting Biden. My question is, what do we do if Biden wins again? Do we sit on our hands and say: It's just an endless cycle of, "we need a Democrat in power or we die!" then we get horrible results, thousands die in other countries, thousands die without healthcare, inflation worsens, the environment worsens, we complain, 3 years pass, the national election starts coming up again and we get told again: "Vote Dem or you die!" Like at some point.. this argument is gonna fall apart. I believe it already has which is why Trump will win in 2024, it's no longer enough to say "Trump evil! Will kill you!". But rather than find a better Democrat or push for Biden to enact (or at least advocate for) popular policies like Medicare for All, or rational stances like a ceasefire, or even just keep his campaign promises of cancelling student debt, random civilians on this website get told we're awful people who are going to get the suffering we deserve under Trump. Y'all are the reason people laugh at the Democratic party. I'm well aware Republicans are **** people but some of you all are stupid as ****.
