"In Andersen's original fairy tale, the mermaid still falls in love with a human prince and barters her voice for legs, but it comes with a much more painful price. If she doesn't get the prince to return her feelings and fall in love with her, she must die a mermaid's death and turn into sea foam. She accepts this trade even though she ultimately receives an unhappy ending, with the prince marrying a princess from a neighboring kingdom. There's been much speculation about the meaning behind the story, but one particular take on it seems to have been widely accepted as truth. This interpretation claims that "The Little Mermaid" is actually a queer allegory and was a love letter written by Andersen to his close friend, Edvard Collin, whom he was in love with. Andersen had written several letters and poems to Collin throughout their friendship, and much of his writing declared deep romantic feelings for the other man, expressing that his emotions were like those of a woman's. TLM has always been one of THE fairy tales the gays could relate to and all the pining and unrequited love that the mermaid felt and wanting to be a human could be a metaphor for wanting to be seen as "normal" by a heteronormative society or their unrequited love.

With so much talk of Disney's recent creative bankruptcy and overly high focus on remakes, I wanted to see if people are excited about this movie they are releasing in 5 months, which is a new original story. I think the character designs look good and finally there is an actual villain, the plot is intriguing as well. What do you think?

Ok, so... i met this guy through IG, he sent me a message, we liked each other and we've been together for 3 months now. We're not in an *actual* relationship but we were doing good. At the very beggining it was everything perfect: we would chat from mornings to late nights, when we saw each other the sex was great, the chemistry was there and he was just like a best friend to me too, we would laugh over stupid things etc. Then things started to change. He started to take a while to respond to my texts than the usual and we were talking less. But the dynamic was still fun, he wasn't monosyllabic or whatever and honestly i don't think it would be fair to ask him to respond to me faster bc he has his life and the world does not revolve around me. But then, this continued... but he started to take even more hours to respond. Sometimes i would send him a good morning text, only for him to reply at 3pm, or even 5pm and what annoyed me is how he wasn't busy than the usual, he was online on other social media normally as he's always been, posting memes, stories on IG, tweeting and just ignoring me. And we weren't having or even chatting about sex anymore. Last weekend he only sent me a message at 10pm and i got sad about it bc obviously he was avoiding me. So we finally had a conversation bc i wanted to know what was going on, what he actually wanted from me and i asked him to be 100% honest. He said that he was just busy with college but still wanted me around, wasn't avoiding me and there was nothing going on or wrong with me. He also said that he would get sad if i leave him. I feel like he was gaslighting me, but ok So... after that conversation he *magically* changed to how he was with me at the beggining, only for a day or two... and then started to act as if he's avoiding me again. I'm feeling uncomfortable with that situation bc still seems like he's treating me like a side piece or whatever and i want to move on (especially bc there's a really cute guy i got my eyes on rn), but at the same time he's still nice to me and i feel bad to just ignore him or the thought of dumping him. Am i overreacting or should i just move on from him? It's not being fun to me anymore, even though i still like him.

Considering all the troubles that the Verified Fan system posed in the sale of The Eras Tour tickets in the United States, should Ticketmaster change the system for Verified Fan and make it for ACTUAL verified fans? I believe only applying for a code which is sent in a completely random way is not the way to ensure fans get tickets, ESPECIALLY with concerts with such a high demand and danger of speculation. I think a certain percentage of the tickets (not all of them) should be reserved for fans, and to qualify as such you should prove you bought albums, merch, or listen to the artist to a certain extent. And then with those fans then send the codes randomly in order to avoid 'classism' (bc there's people who don't have as much time to listen to an artist, or money to buy merch etc...). This way, fans would have more options of buying but locals could buy, too. Taylor did something similar with a Point System for her Rep Tour, but we can't really compare the demand.

Is anyone else getting recommendation videos like this? meanwhile, these are actually videos I have open on my tabs: Youtube also does sometimes recommend I watch Alt.Right garbage or stupid podcasts by ignorant men but I immediately report those channels so they don't come up on my feed. SC for example: cant complain. better than being told i should watch Steven Crowder or some trash

I saw a Tik Tok about this law and thought it could be helpful to share. WARN notices were put into law in the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988. Essentially, most employers in the US have to publish WARN notices at least 60 days prior to mass layoffs (over 100 people). You can simply search WARN notice (state name) to find a .gov website that’ll show you a list of places laying off employees.

I personally hate it and think we should stop reinforcing this idea. It’s like we’re blaming LGBTQ people for all the homophobia in the world and absolving straights from it. What do y’all think?

The Balkans being more accepting comes as a surprise. The UK I can understand as there's greater exposure. Sweden, Finland, and Denmark is shocking. People usually go on and on about how great the Scandinavian countries are.

Everyone seems to be in agreement that the right is becoming more brazen in their bigotry towards the LGBT community. How can the left fight this? Is there anything you think could help put a stop to this rising tide?

Am I the only one noticing that people are getting more vocal about pride month becoming way too much to handle for some reason? And not just homophobic people. Why does it feel as if people are getting emotionally exhausted and sometimes even annoyed with pride month. It's concerning tbh.

So i'm single for 3 month now and since, i felt very lonely and my best friend was like "you should get another guy" so i met another guy on Grindr and the first day we met we kissed each others, hugged a lot and it made me feel so good, but after that day i realized that i was not attracted by him at all and i just wanted to feel desirable... and i was feeling bad because i don't like to use people. I saw him a second time after that even if i knew i was not attracted by him because he gave me cute messages and i was like maybe i could just be in love with his heart even if i'm not attracted by him physically. But that day i knew that... no i need to be attracted physically to a guy to have a real relationship. The problem is that we saw each others only 2 day in 1 month but he is already in love with me and send me text like "i love you baby" and now i feel guilty because i just wanted to have good moments after my breakup but i'm not attracted by him at all but he is... And and I can't tell him he's not attractive to me. I'm afraid to hurt him... he is so sweet.... but at the same time we only talk for 1 month and saw each others 2 times... so i don't understand how he can be so emotionally attached to me... I told him today that my last breakup was to recent and that i was not ready for a relationship (i don't want to tell him that i'm not attracted by him because i don't want to hurt his feelings) and he was like "i will wait for you, i love you my love..." So i don't know what to do. And he wanted to met me this week and i accepted because i don't want to hurt him.... I feel trapped.
