  1. "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton has entered into an exclusive multi-year overall deal with Disney companies Marvel Studios and Hulu’s Onyx Collective. At the same time, Disney has made it official that Cretton is returning to write and direct the sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings."
  2. While no film reached the viewership of Q4 2021’s most watched film Red Notice (which saw 9.8M U.S. households tune in over its first 31 days), it was a big quarter for streaming nonetheless. And, while Q4’s leaderboard was all about Netflix, Q1 saw Disney+ bringing in big numbers with three films in the top five. In fact, Free Guy saw 5.2M U.S. households stream the film in its first month – the highest 31-day viewership of any Q1 film we looked at. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the two films with the highest 31-day viewership did see a dual release across two streaming platforms – Free Guy on Disney+ and HBO Max and The King’s Man on Hulu and HBO Max. With two ways to watch, and two subscriber bases to become a potential audience, it’s no surprise to see these two films in the top spots for the quarter. https://www.samba.tv/resources/viewership-insights-from-q1-2022-streaming-tv-and-movies Free Guy #1 Angelina's Eternals #3 & J.Lo's Marry Me #9, the public demand

  12. Not only can Warner Bros. celebrate racking up $750 WW and $365M stateside at the box office on Matt Reeves’ The Batman before the pic’s April 18 debut on HBO Max, but the DC movie’s first week viewership in Smart TV U.S. households at 4.1 million beats the first seven days of such HBO Max/Warner Bros. movies The Suicide Squad ($3.5M), Wonder Woman 1984 (3.2M), The Matrix Resurrections (3.2M) and Dune (2.3M) — all of which were same day theatrical day-and-date movies last year under Warner Bros. pandemic release plan. Batman‘s first week is the second best for a theatrical movie on HBO Max after New Line’s Mortal Kombat (4.3M). The Batman‘s first week was even bigger than Zack Snyder’s Justice League which pulled in 2.2M U.S. households, that pic a direct to HBO Max title. Zoe Kravitz's The Batman did that
