I never got the hype. Growing up it what probably one of my least watched Disney Renaissance movies. I even prefer Pocahontas to TLK, even Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty, or the original Snow White. I just always found the movie SO BORING, especially after Mufasa’s death. Scar can’t compare to other Disney villains, and I never go back to any of the songs on the soundtrack. I even prefer The Rescuers movies to TLK, and think only the opening Circle of Life segment and Scar’s death stick out.

The movie is thought to be the most viewed film ever made, and inspires many contemporary filmmakers like David Lynch, Greta Gerwig, Joel Coen, and countless others.
