discussion San Francisco Mayor London Breed Links Hondurans to Drug Trafficking, Apologizes
jakeisphat posted a topic in Civics
During an interview for Bay area radio station, KQED-FM, Mayor Breed outlined her plan for decreasing fentanyl overdoses in San Francisco. During the interview, she said, "There are unfortunately a lot of people who come from a particular country — from Honduras. And a lot of the people who are dealing that drug happen to be of that ethnicity . . . We all know it, it’s the reality. It’s what you see. It’s what’s out there." After the clip went viral on social media, and being pelted with racial profiling accusations, she later apologized, saying, "I want to apologize to the Latino community for what I said and how I said it. In trying to explain what is happening in the Tenderloin, I failed to accurately and comprehensively discuss what is an incredibly complex situation in our City and in Central America." https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/san-francisco-mayor-london-breed-comments-hondurans/3035592/ -

discussion Anne Hathaway says she still wants "Princess Diaries 3"
okgo posted a topic in Entertainment
In January 2019, Hathaway confirmed they were actively working on a third film and that she, Julie Andrews, and producer Debra Martin Chase were on board. However, Andrews said in a June 2022 interview that she felt a third film would be unlikely and too late, especially since director Garry Marshall had already died - but she would be up for it with the right script. Hathaway recently sat down with ET's Rachel Smith to discuss her upcoming movie, Armageddon Time, but also took a moment to rave about the possibility of making a Princess Diaries 3 and the chance to work with the "magnificent" Julie Andrews once again. "I would more than entertain it, I'm pulling for it," Hathaway shared. "If there's any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen." -

AlanRickman1946 posted a topic in The Lounge
James Gordon Meek is an ABC Producer. He was a military and national security investigative reporter. According to ABC he “resigned very abruptly and hasn’t worked for us for months." He quit after the FBI raided his apartment In April. The search had to do with classified information found on his computer. Meeks lawyer (Gorokhov) said Meek is unaware of what allegations anonymous sources are making about his possession of classified documents but that "if such documents exist, as claimed, this would be within the scope of Mr. Meek’s long career as an investigative journalist covering government wrongdoing.” Gorokhov also said that it was “highly inappropriate, and illegal, for individuals in the government to leak information about an ongoing investigation. -
discussion Jamie Lee Curtis starring in brand new successful IPs unlike her peers. Why?
MikeyDuff1D posted a topic in Entertainment
Jamie Lee Curtis has never been recognized by the Academy unlike her peers such as Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton, etc. However, in the past 5 years, she not only successfully revived the Halloween franchise, but she also starred in two brand new popular IPs: Everything Everywhere All at Once and Knives Out. I also feel like these roles are interesting and diverse compared to the roles that other actresses in her age bracket have been getting in the past 5 years. What do you think? Why JLC? -
