The gag is that she always does this for people (especially men i.e Wayne and Drake) who would never do this for her lol. In fact, Drake will literally post up with her literal opps like Cardi and Latto but she'll still be in his corner but I digress, that's not what this is about. Wayne & YM did a lot for her and her career but you wouldn't catch him defending her like this. It'd be nice for the biggest artist from a city to perform the halftime show when it's in their hometown & I know it's happened before but it's not a requirement and has not even historically been a thing lol. It's also not the first or the last time the halftime show will be in New Orleans so it's really not even a big deal. The truth is that she's been waiting to say something cause she's had some weird seemingly one-sided shady thing going on with Jay and Bey ever since Meg signed that Roc Nation management deal. She's silly, sad, and paranoid. She always thinks someone is out to get her. She needs true help but we already knew that.40 points

I'm kind of an obese Katy Perry hater, but a bigger Trisha Paytas hater, so I can't say I'm pleased by this rather disturbing, yet obvious, turn of events. Who is Trisha to even talk about success when she's one of the biggest has-beens in the YouTube community? I'm conflicted20 points

Love Taylor but she and her fans keep gaslighting the audience that she is rightfully void of speaking out about political issues because of safety concerns. There are loads of other artist who talk about politics who are on tour. Of course, not speaking up about major political or social issues is your civil right, but Variety is only addressing the fact that her massive platform is basically going to waste in times when it's needed the most. And it IS funny how Taylor only felt comfortable to discuss politics and make it the focus point of her era when she felt like her career was "on a decline" during Lover. Now it's crickets. But oh well, on Tortured Poets she herself even admitted that Joe Alwyns integrity made her feel small. It makes perfect sense.19 points

I really don't understand her. I've always said that as much as I love her as an artist, I just can't get into her as a person, and I stand by that. When she tries to show concern about anything outside her bubble it never comes off as genuine because you can tell her heart is simply not in it, she really does not care about anything that doesn't affect her, and it's sad. I mean, on one hand it's the standard approach of a privileged famous person, what baffles me is that the person she portrays in her music seems distant (a lot more sensitive) from this one we see everyday.19 points

If she's going to do this, she might as well address them directly I guess Rih left her on read again18 points

They're sending a message to not just Beyonce but black people about our place in country music, Beyonce has the most talked about country leaning record of the year and one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed country influenced albums this year. The shut out is intentional but i know for a fact some of you are glad racism won today. Ya'll just want her humbled and rely on white institutions like the CMAs to do the work for you. Also i do hope this is a scenario where she just didn't submit because it's a very dim and defeating feeling knowing that you're being excluded from something because of your race.17 points
-
That's why she's not a real musician But we already knew that.17 points
-
The album not being pure country is irrelevant when plenty of stuff that does well at the CMAs isn't pure country. Also yes Shaboozey got nominated but he's one of a very few black people who ever get nominated. A black woman is going to struggle more than a black man to be accepted in a racist space, especially one who has criticised that space in the past for being unwelcome. So if she did submit you can't just discount racism from this just because another black person overcame it. Let's not pretend the country scene isn't racist just because occasionally a minority artist gets a nod. The most nominated person this year literally has a history of racism.17 points

How she managed to weave in such brilliantly poetic and sarcastic lyrics into a very catchy and fun pop song is incredible - it's to be studied. I often think a 2014 quote from Taylor when I listen to this: "she's very intelligent - it would scare people if they knew how smart she was". With this song she proved that methinks. Was undoubtedly a highlight of the Eras Tour methinks. It's so dramatic and fun and joyous - very main character. And I think Taylor's Version may be better than the original, too." Peroxide 10 - "When you look up the dictionary definition of 'perfect pop song'… this is the song that shows up!" Forever Winter 10 - "Everything about this song is genius, from the lyrics to the melodies to the production to the vocal delivery to the adlibs. 10000% deserving to be one of her signature songs." frankvert 10 - "One of the best written pop songs of all time. Her best single imo. The narrative, MV, & rollout were all perfect." SLUTTVFTV 10 - "Pop perfection." Klein 10 - "Her very best pop song. Everything about it is top notch. Production, melody, lyrics, delivery, imagery, iconic-ness... No other pop song from her can come close. They might match the melodic strength, but will lack in lyrics. They might match the lyrics, but will fall at the production. And every single one of them (bar LWYMMD) are lacking in the visuals department compared to Blank Space. Thank you mother for this masterpiece." wastedpotential 10 - "Nnn I'm not even gonna waste my time writing out a comment here, y'all already know. Great chorus, beautiful chorus! Sean O'Pry, if you're reading this, I'm waiting for you with an open mind, an open heart, open hands, and an open ho-" blown away 10 - "This one is a stroke of genius, one of Taylor's strongest songs." Starchild 10 - "A timeless classic." Edge of Glory 8.5 - "Arguably her defining single, next to maybe love story or ybwm......." Achilles. 8 - "A genius pop song in a dozen different ways. The snappy one liners and soaring hooks, of course. But also the way the narrative makes "all the tables turn" exactly halfway through the song. And I once read an article all about the brilliant use of the down beat here." Where are you now? 7.8 - "Taylor writing at the top of her game, miles ahead of her peers. Such a GP-owned song though that I don't often feel like listening. " sparrowblue 6.9 - "It's good but nowhere near greatness." KillingYourCareer 0 - "Back in late 2014, I was 'dating' this guy I wasn't really that much into. When I told him that indeed we weren't together, he started sharing memes with this song on Facebook. I now associate it with annoying, bitter gays, hence the 0."16 points
