I haven't seen TLaTL yet, but it's so sad to hear that she apparently wasn't trusting herself or her creative choices during this period of her life. Like she was coming off of Born This Way of all albums, any one of us would probably be extremely trusting in our own creative instincts if we had just released an album that strong. We really are our own harshest critics It also cannot be understated how kind it was for Tony to take her under his wing. Not only did he want to see her flourish creatively, but we wanted to see her happy. That level of no-strings-attached generosity is rare enough in the world, but doubly so when you're in the entertainment business. I know we joke about the jazz stuff a lot (and a lot of the jokes are hilarious tbh) but I can see why it's so important to her. He really did so much and I can see why she treasures it.
