  1. No offense, but as someone who studied language evolution as part of my graduate school training, this is actually a somewhat reductive take. Yes, there's a lot of overlap between contemporary gay lingo and Black vernacular language, including phrases used more often by women. But there is simultaneously a lot of contemporary gay lingo that originates in queer subcultures, and is NOT used by non-queer Black women. Rather than attributing "most gay slang" to Black women, it's more accurate (and imo, interesting) to consider how language in POC-dominant queer spaces is taken up by white gays, which then speeds up the process of the language being adopted into the mainstream. My final point is that language is fluid and always evolving anyway, so I think attribution games are not particularly worthwhile. The beauty of language is that it can be picked up, revised, and adapted to various groups, both minoritarian and majoritarian. Like we can talk about when "wig" started being used in queer subcultures, but we can also talk about how the French popularized the term in the 16th century, which they likely adapted from a Latin term.

  3. I was thinking her team leaked a false AI snippet + false info to RS about Puke being on the album, in order to ignite backlash a month before the release. Only to then dismantle both those theories a week before the single release, making everyone eat their words and in the process creating a viral online debate about how women are unduly criticised in the music industry. And then I woke up

  4. Katy fans stop trying to deflect and just accept that this is going to be another massive L for you and your fave. You should be used to it by now.

  5. Not my screaming LG7 making it to twitter. She said "not tonight" which I'm sure you all know but I had limited signal in there and wasn't going to waste time getting on ATRL. I will try again tomorrow for the 2nd show. but fyi as usual the straight locals loved it! "I didn't know she was so talented" "that was the best show I've ever seen" "she should just sing jazz forever". Y'all would hate them! getting ready for Brian Newman and hoping Gar shows up!

  12. What does 'without giving them credit' even mean? Should every person who uses slang words make sure to say after every word they say 'brought to you by black women'? Like what do you want? That statement is beyond pathetic.

  17. Label executives are still trying to mold pop stars to sound like her and that is further proof of her long-standing influence. She made people re-assess what they were writing about and how they were presenting it to the world. Fanbases can argue all they want but even the pop stars themselves have expressed how much she's shaped their careers and sounds (e.g. Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, etc.). She is the blueprint.

  20. From google: All aerosol cans can create potentially harmful effects on the environment. The chemicals used inside of them are toxic to the soil, air, and water. This old-fashioned method poses risks to the environment, including pollution, which is one of the leading causes of global warming and acidic rain.

  21. Jazz & Piano was sooo GOOD. JazzGa brings a unique edge different from PopGa and ActressGa. We're so lucky to get to experience this talented woman in many dimensions.

  22. On ATRL's Trending Topics Chart Ever since her imminent comeback announcement, Katy has already made a return to the charts. The news of her new (now scrapped? I didn't manage to keep up) single "Woman's World" has landed her the number 1 spot on the TRENDING TOPICS ATRL chart. She has a total of 4 entries, with another one accompanying "Katy Perry - Woman's World" in the top 5, and has managed to dethrone OTH darling Taylor Swift from the top spot. Katy has as of right now declined to take credit for the alleged interpolation on the number #5 entry - Kesha posts shady tweet "LOL", so that one was not counted. Is this a possible early sign for her newly revived chart prowess? Discuss.

  32. Gaga demonstrated that she's at her vocal peak with Jazz & Piano. She's likely about to show us her acting peak with JFAD. I hope LG7 shows us her creative and musical peak.

  34. No, the Katy stans simply made that up. Katy has never had any kind of contract with Dr. Luke and it is logically not possible to have a contract with Dr. Luke without ever having been signed to KMI, Prescription Songs, Kemosabe Records or even a Sony label.
