  5. Assorted achievements, part 2 (Hot 100 edition): - Breaks her own all-time record for most top positions simultaneously occupied (14) - Ties her own solely-held records for most simultaneous top ten hits and most top ten hits from one album - Extends her own record for most simultaneous #1 song and album debuts (6) - Breaks record for most simultaneously charting songs for a woman, second among all artists (32; Morgan Wallen had 36); also the same for songs from a single album (31) - Ties Madonna for third most #1 hits among women (12; Mariah has 19, Rihanna has 14) - Breaks tie with Adele, Elton John, and Bruno Mars for tenth-most weeks at #1, fourth among women (35) - Ties Drake for most #2 hits (10) - Moves into fifth place among all artists and third among women for cumulative weeks in the top ten (281) - Extends lead or ties record among all women, in second place behind Drake for all artists, in the following: #1 debuts (7); top five hits (36); top ten hits (59); top ten debuts (48); most top forty hits (number TBD when we know more placements); most Hot 100 entries (263) It is also likely, but not yet confirmed, that she breaks the record for most simultaneous top forty entries (I believe the current record is 22 and she is predicted to get 26). As you can see, there was a lot less research to do here than for the Billboard 200 post!

  6. When Cowboy Carter and Eternal Sunshine were released, people were reminded of the existence of those artists. Taylor was already omnipresent, noone needed that reminder before TTPD's release.

  7. The ppl who hate her most loudly are fans of other pop artists who resent her being more popular, its true

  8. You are right, Taylor would need to have a 70% decline to be on Adele's level.

  9. Her old discography already occupied 1/3 of the top 20. Unlike those artists you mentioned, every potential audience is streaming her album so there is barely no new audience anymore. Or do you expect this: 1. TTPD 2. Lover 3. 1989(TV) 4. Midnights No, this is not gonna happen. And I can't believe somebody doubt her album boost effect. Didn't some people say her discography streams are boosted by mass release?

  13. I haven't listened to Taylor's other albums this week as I've wanted to digest TTPD, I imagine most of her hardcore fans are doing the same and will return to her other albums in a week or two.

  14. Okay guys, so I heard the album twice and here is a quick review, as promised: End Of An Era - Amazing opener, the production kinda reminds me of Count Contessa/Along The Coast by Azealia Banks, but with a groove. She starts the song with counting (1, 2, 3). It really captures the summer vibe. 8/10 Houdini - Nothing to talk about here, definite first single, I found it weak at first and now I like it more than Don't Start Now, which is one of my favorite songs ever, that speaks for itself. 10/10 Training Season - I was not feeling this one AT ALL at first, but it also grew on me a lot, tho I still think it could've been a little punchier. 7/10 These Walls - The production is nice, kinda reminds me of Kelly Clarkson, don't ask me why. I'ts not bad but also not anything spectacular right now. 5/10 Whatcha Doing - This one is really an adept for the next single, really groovy and catchy. 9/10 French Exit - Starts with drums, then goes into guitar, one of my favorites so far, also captures the summer vibe very well. 9/10 Illusion - At first, I thought it was just a weaker version of Hallucinate, oh how wrong I was. Already my song of the summer. 10/10 Falling Forever - The production is INSANE in this one. She starts with "How LOOOOONG?", same for the chorus. It's really like Choose Your Battles by Katy, just very sped up. Can we keep falling forever, she asks? 10/10 Anything For Love - Starts with laughing and talking with her friends/family, I immediately thought of her insta photos. Then goes like a ballad and then suddenly, an uptemto banger, but unfortunately it ends really abturbly, it's basically an interlude. 8/10 Maria - Guitar driven, another summerish one, also could work as a single. Something Álvaro Soler would release. 9/10 Happy For You - Really interesting way to end this album, the production is heavy for her standarts, kinda reminds me of Linkin Park/Twenty One Pilots production, but maybe that's a reach. Oh, and there's also a little psychadelic outro and animal sounds in the end of the song. 10/10 This review was written quickly and I still need time to absorb the album, but so far I can say that it's better than FN imo, it has the same highs as FN but no songs as bad as GIB and BWBB. And honestly, I'm glad that she changed the aesthetics of the era, I can't imagine the aesthetics of Houdini and TS with songs like End Of An Era, French Exit and Maria.

  15. Most of Adele's sales are unique sales from individual people, not people using their trust funds to buy multiple copies of the same album. You can probably divide Taylor's sales by 4 and get the real number. So Adele still wins.

  18. The South African Geographical Names Council (SAGNC) has significantly changed the names of the country's geographic entities. The council aims to ensure that the names of places reflect the diverse cultures and languages of South Africa rather than remnants of colonial and apartheid pasts. The SAGNC was established by the South African Geographical Names Council Act of 1998, and since then, it has approved changes for 1,505 place names, including 85 towns. This initiative has led to renaming various geographical locations such as towns, rivers, mountains, and streets. The council aims to make public spaces' names resonate more with the local inhabitants' identity and heritage. The SAGNC's efforts have significantly shifted towards a more inclusive and respectful naming system that celebrates the country's rich cultural diversity. Some of the changes: Port Elizabeth → Gqeberha Morgan's Bay → Gxarha Cradock → Nxuba Uitenhage → Kariega King Williamstown → Qonce Queenstown → Komani Grahamstown → Makhanda Fort Beaufort → KwaMaqoma Somerset East → KwaNojoli Graaff-Reinet → Robert Sobkwe or Fred Hufkie Adendorp → Kwa Mseki Bishop Limba Aberdeen → Camdeboo Nieu-Bethesda → Kwa Noheleni https://www.nrclitchi.org/south-africa-renamed-85-cities/

  22. Adele did 3.4M partially because her album wasn't on streaming, which gave her an advantage when it comes to pure sales. Almost 10 years have passed and sales have plummeted EVER MORE during this time so it's not the "gotcha" you think it is Also, Taylor did 1M+ first week over 7 times now while Adele only did it once so how is Adele above Taylor exactly? It's really funny to see people suddenly hiding behind Adele when they couldn't care less about her, you guys are really not subtle

  23. This is such a tremendous feat for an artist like Taylor Swift. People (non-fans) always ask “omg how does she do this” and blame it on cult fans, the reality is Taylor has worked hard to cultivate a relationship with her fans. And the GP resonates with her as well. She’s earned every single accolade by continuing to top herself.

  31. Assorted achievements: - Second biggest debut in US history - Biggest streaming and SEA week in US history (breaking Drake's record from 2018's Scorpion) - Biggest vinyl week in the Soundscan/Luminate era, breaking her own record from 1989 (Taylor's Version), which broke her own record from Midnights, which broke Harry Styles' record from Harry's House, which broke Taylor's record from Red (Taylor's Version), which broke her own record from Evermore - Third biggest all-format pure sales week in the Soundscan/Luminate era (behind Adele and *NSYNC) - Ties for the most #1 albums among solo artists, second most among all artists (14; Jay-Z has 14, the Beatles have 19) - Extends records for most consecutive studio albums to hit #1 and to debut at #1 (14; Jay-Z is next for both at 11) - Extends record for most million-selling weeks among all artists (7 weeks; Adele is next at 3 weeks) - Extends record for most million-selling debuts among all artists (7; *NSYNC, and BSB are next at 2 each, and Eminem has 1 million-selling debut week and another album that sold 1 million in its first full week) - Extends record for most albums to sell over 500,000 pure copies in a single week in the Soundscan/Luminate era (11; runner-up unclear, but they have 8 or less) - Extends record as solo artist with the most weeks at #1, second most weeks among all artist (70 weeks; Elvis is next at 67, the Beatles have 132) - Leads the 2020s decade for the most #1 albums with 8 (Drake is next at 4) - Breaks tie with Morgan Wallen for most weeks at #1 in the 2020s (30 weeks) - Taylor now has the four biggest weeks of the 2020s decade and six of the top ten (Adele's 30 is #5) - She also has the four biggest vinyl weeks of the SoundScan/Luminate era and 6 of the top 10 - TTPD instantly becomes the most-consumed album of the calendar year so far, and #2 in the Billboard chart year behind 1989 (Taylor's Version) - Taylor has now crossed 13 million album units for the current Billboard chart year, which I believe is already the biggest Billboard year in the Soundscan/Luminate era or the second biggest after her own 2023

  33. Taylor has a consistently very high level of streams, so naturally some portion of that is going to transfer to a new release for a while simply because fans are listening to the new thing and can only listen to one thing at a time. I'm not sure why we'd be surprised here.

  42. The people who have been complaining all era are so annoying. I finally got around to muting them and I'm going to enjoy the album because it sounds like fun music not meant to be analyzed like it somehow will put money in your pocket if it smashes. Like, we've heard the same old stuff for 6 months now. Feel free to continue with the b******* but I'm going to enjoy the album with people who don't analyze this era like their life depends on it or as if Dua's team is going to hop in this thread and listen to your know-nothing comments. Let the Optimism begin
