  5. We’ve seen her ATRL banner. No need to see her live.

  7. Because she managed to do something that no other pop artist has before which is being both a current and legacy act. Usually pop artists hit a peak, and after then they keep releasing music but only hardcore fans keep following them as the new generations move to current acts. Madonna, The Rolling Stones, U2, they keep touring massively but they cannot have a current hit. The whole re-recording move managed to reconnect her with her long time fans while her new stuff smashes and connects with the new generations, so she has it all: hits, catalog sales, huge tours, you name it.

  8. Normally I’d lash a corporation but Dakota taking a dump all over Madame Web as if many people who get paid way less than her didn’t work on it was kind of spiteful and in bad taste. It’s not like she’s a particularly talented actress. Congrats on ending Ellen, but now she just comes across as holier than thou and feels she can do no wrong. Accept the flop and keep it moving.

  13. Is this thread a set up? bc this is the FIRST time that Taylor touched Latin America, while all her peers did it since 10 years ago. Even Ariana, Demi and Dua toured here before her ijbol

  19. If I was her, I would take a long break from the nostalgic 70s/80s sound. It's so damn overdone. We want modern 2020s music. That goes for all MPGs not just Dua.

  20. There's only one person in Pop who has the audacity to pull such a stunt. My money is on that desperate, pesky little homosexual twerp that is Lil Nas X.

  21. Plane is the only correct winner at this point. Engaging, fully-realized, serves drama in an entertaining way, never fumbled a challenge (I won't fall for the edit putting her low last week ), and WE ARE OVERDUE for a "villain" winner!!!! We've had so many BORING queens win in the double-digit seasons. ENOUGH. Crown PJ!

  22. Wow you can tell it’s her passion project. Queen ****. When other artist do this it’s an obvious cash grab and chart manipulation, but for Ari, it’s not!

  25. Yes, because her multiple sold out stadiums in South America and Asia were full of rich white girls of course.

  26. Maybe support from different generations (Millenials and Gen Z)? Something similar happened to Adele in the early 10’s when both the older and younger generations stanned her. The new girls don’t have her massive support from millenials, and the older girls don’t have her massive support from Gen Z, so none can really compete with her currently. Of course, she worked A LOT for this tho.

  29. The strength of her catalogue and the relatability and the universality of the experiences that she sings about together with the ability to consistently craft great melodies. It makes you come back again and again to her songs depending on the mood you're in, and everytime you do you find something awesome in those lyrics. Beyonce kinda should be up there with her for similar reasons (very strong catalogue, hard working, super talented), but Beyonce is either extremely unrelatable or pretty disingenuous in most of her lyrics. It's either she's the super-goddess that nobody can touch (super unrelatable) or she's some struggling, underpaid peasant like the lyrics of 16 carriages might suggest (i.e. very disingenuous lyrics that are not the reflection of her billionaire status life). So listening to her causes me to roll my eyes quite often, so I don't come back to her music as much. Other pop girlies are generally too vague and faceless in their approach to their lyrics, so there's no strong bond between the listener and the music - it's easy to move on to the next best thing once you are tired of any particular songs, because those lyrics didn't touch you deeply enough. I mean listen to Houdini or Training Season... it's like umm ok - literally not a single line to hold on to. Taylor brought something from country music into pop music that hasn't been done before - the specificness of lyrics which are genuinely about her own personal experiences, but which are universally relatable. More and more people discover her appeal and her popularity keeps growing. She won't fade anytime soon, because her popularity is not based on a personality cult and it's not based on quick little hits either. Her audience dives deeper into her rich catalogue to search for more hidden gems of which there are plenty. That's why she consistently charts half a dozen of albums in the upper reaches of the charts.

  30. Why can't these girls just hire a social media manager and let them run it? Like they're all so obsessed with what social media has to say but don't stay away from it

  31. WBCF made it more emotional for me once the video came out. The video painted the picture for me and made me adore the song even more. Everything about this album shows the growth and maturity of Ariana. She should be extremely proud of this body of work. Skipless album.

  34. Gaga truly boomed just right after the start of social media and was able to be known globally in months. And she earned five (5) IFPI entries during those eras, more than Taylor. I think 2 or 3? Albums: EAS: Gaga: 54M, Taylor: 49M. it is also important to note that Gaga was huge bc of her art, whether outlandish costumes, performances, songs, or music videos. That's kind of impressive to have everyone's attention and not be about your personal life, like, who even did that since her?

  35. No, not even close. Top 200 aka popular music landscape of Spotify didn't grow more than 100 percentage, let alone 150%. The growth comes from growth of smaller artists and bigger reach of users and it is still not close to % of user growth. Just a comparison (today = 27 September 2023, not that different today) 2017 Spotify users - 132M 2023 Spotify users - 517M (3.9x bigger) #5 song (2017 Sept.) - 3.4M #5 song (today) - 4.5M (1.3x bigger) #10 (2017) - 2.5M #10 (today) - 3.8M (1.3x bigger) #25 (2017) - 2.1M #25 (today) - 2.5M (1.2x bigger) #50 (2017) - 1.2M #50 (today) - 1.9M (1.6x bigger) #100 (2017) - 750k #100 (today) - 1.4M (1.8x bigger) #200 (2017) - 490k #200 (today) - 1M (2.1x bigger) As numbers clearly show, streams didn't get 290% bigger like the number of users. Streams of top 50 barely grew by 60% in the last 6-7 years. Midnights / TUN - 2.64x (264%) And no, ES wouldn't have done 23M in 2019. It would do something around 40M considering the % of streaming growth of popular music.

  38. It did. Most shows were sold out and it grossed almost $70M. 51% of total tickets sold in less than 4 days. I'm sure JLo will be fine and there's an explanation for the cancellation of a few dates.
