Hi, I'm a gay Palestinian. Thought it would be best if you heard it straight up from me. I grew up in Jordan where most Palestinian refugees reside, and in a country that shares 99% of the same culture as Palestine, it is fully legal to be gay in Jordan (unlike most other Arab countries) and more recently there's been a gay café and weekly gay parties. Jordan is also known for having kickstarted the first LGBTQ+ magazine in the Middle East. Not saying that Jordan is the golden standard when it comes to queer rights, but funny how when a country is sovereign, unoccupied by a colonizer, and isn't in fear of ethnic cleansing or apartheid, then it's able to slowly grow and progress on social issues without having to prioritize survival. My gay friends in Gaza are indeed dying, however on the hands of the Israeli genocide these past 4 weeks. The only gay friend I have there left uploaded a video this morning shaking and asking people to collect the remains of his body once he's airstruck into little pieces. Please have a heart and have compassion. The queer Palestinian community isn't asking for pride parades or gay saunas, they're asking for survival and freedom from Israeli apartheid. Bit late of a reaction, but this reasoning just isn't right. Yeah, vinyl sales has gone up since 1989 OG, but cd sales have dropped even more than vinyl sales has gone up. Overall, 1989TV came out in a time with less physical sales. CD sales in the US in 2014: 142.8 million Vinyl sales in the US in 2014: 9.2 million Total: 152 million CD sales in the US in 2022: 33.4 million Vinyl sales in the US in 2022: 43.4 million Total: 76.8 million It's even more impressive when you realize there were like over 100 million digital album sales yearly back in 2014, which has dropped to about 20 million last year. It's hard to compensate that with streaming. The numbers don't lie

To say DL sounds similar to FN is actually insane like you're either just trolling, never listened to both albums, or think anything with a beat sounds like the same music lol There's a reason Dua went from being seen as any other pop artist (even a joke at times) to one of the best new pop artists in music today... DL is solid if you LOVE pop but it's essentially a fairly generic, character-lacking pop album. FN is genre-fluid, characterized, and one of the most influential albums of the 2020s so far.

I echo the sentiment that there won’t really be a “next” Taylor. The same way Taylor has carved out her own lane that is entirely separate of Madonna or Michael, for example, someone else will have to pave their own way that is unique to them. I think this site gets so caught up in asking if Taylor has “surpassed” the legends of yesterday without stopping to realize that Taylor isn’t supposed to surpass them — she’s meant to stand alongside them. Which she does, mind you.
