They always use the doctor comparison It's so disingenuous because to be a doctor you HAVE to get into medical school, pass the exams, study for years, etc and you can't cheat your way into that. It's impossible to get a leg-up into medical school and pass the exams just because your dad was a doctor. You've got to meet the exam requirements. Whereas being an actor or even a singer requires zero qualifications and sometimes zero talent (in every creative industry there are armies of people ready to make the talentless look talented via editing, auto tune, etc.). You can go from being an ordinary teenager to getting paid a lot of money to star in something or given a big record deal advance practically overnight if you have the right connections. And unlike medicine, law or other regulated professions, it's ALL about who you know behind the scenes in entertainment so the leg-up in terms of connections isn't just a leg-up, it's practically the entire game. Getting the foot in the door is the biggest problem. There is almost no chance for unknown people to audition for a high profile movie or TV series.

I'm sure it would shock you to learn that Willow was one of the 10 most played songs of 2021 on both Adult Top 40 and Adult Contemporary radio in the US, on top of its 900k daily streams (and nearly 700 million total Spotify streams) after two years and ten months. It did have an incredibly unfortunate second week, but it still spent 10 weeks in the top 30, the same number as Rain On Me (and the same number of weeks that Stupid Love had on the Hot 100 in general). No one was confusing Willow for a diamond certified hit, but it was not a flop single, and has been 3x platinum eligible for almost a year at this point.

Subscriptions for everything. A few years ago it was great. People pirated less because it was easy to just pay a monthly fee and consume what you want. But now almost everything is a subscription, even cars. Yes, some new cars have a subscription to access features that used to be standard or added bonuses you can buy. It’s annoying when I may need a software like Adobe or Microsoft office but features are in a subscription when you used to be able to just buy it upfront. The other issue is the quality is declining while the prices are going up. But peoples wages are stagnating and real necessities are more expensive in comparison to incomes. People will just pirate more. The issue is young people don’t know how to pirate as it is knowledge that is dying.
