Pink Matter Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 FJM is the best from this set for me Never bothered with More Life because Drake has been annoying me since Views and especially the whole "playlist" bull****. Cigarettes After Sex was also a cute album too though I didn't go back to it too often.

ultraviolence.xx Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 sorry for it taking so long, but i've got the f***ing plague and i've been working on this over like 5 hours as i've had energy x 35. DUA LIPA - 'DUA LIPA' what a solid debut, though it's too damn long. the only duds IMO are "dreams," which is flat, and "thinking 'bout you," which ariana did way better. dua deserves all the success in the world. if only the US weren't the ****ing worst and would make "new rules" the top 3 hit it deserves to be instead of "banana." i hate america, i hate americans.gif favorites: genesis, IDGAF, new love, begging, homesick — unfavorites: dreams, thinking about you 34. BECK - 'COLORS' this lowkey got trashed but i don't think it's that bad at all. in fact, i think it's quite good. it's a party record like he promised, but it's still got beck's uniqueness, his weird chord progressions and time signatures. "seventh heaven" sounds like a song from coldplay's a head full of dreams in the best ways; "no distraction" captivates with its bouncy guitar line; even the goofy "wow" has won me over with its infectious bass line and groove. it's not a serious record, but it doesn't always have to be. favorites: colors, fix me, seventh heaven, no distraction — unfavorites: i'm so free 33. TOVE LO - 'BLUE LIPS (LADY WOOD PT II)' lady wood, upon release, was a disappointment (though in hindsight, for some reason, i like it much more), and lead single "disco t*ts" underwhelmed, so i didn't have high hopes for blue lips. maybe that's why it surprised me with talenT. the dichotomy between the two halves makes for a very fun listening experience. i like most of the tracks here and love "hey you got drugs?"—it's got to be my favorite song from either album, with "flashes" close behind. my dislikes include the aforementioned "disco t*ts" and "dont ask dont tell," which goes nowhere from beginning to end—kind of like if katy perry's "bon appétit" didn't have the smashing beat in the last chorus. favorites: hey you got drugs?, stranger, bad days, shedontknowbutsheknows — unfavorites: dont ask dont tell, disco t*ts 32. KATHERYN HUDSON - 'WITNESS' here come the drags, doo-dn-doo-dooooo! yes, this is my 32nd favorite album of the year. it'd probably be higher if i weren't trying to cling to the infinitesimal amount of indie cred i have. lyrically, it's chock-full of blunders—pick a song, any song, and there'll be a lyric that'd turn you bright red if you had to sing live—but sonically, it's full of f**ing BANGERS (miley who?). this album gave me exactly what i wanted from katy—upbeat, well-produced music to give me a false sense of happiness. "power" (RIP "goddess") made me feel all the woman power in the world, like i can do anything (even tho i'm not a woman). "swish swish" stunned me with its deep-house influences and excellent nicki feature. i may never admit to listening to "bon appétit" all the f*cking time when it dropped—in the car, folding laundry, cooking, doing dishes—but ms. hudson knows how to make a catchy tune. songs like "miss you more" and "save as draft," even with that horrid post-chorus intake of air that could oxygenate the entire state of louisiana, genuinely affected me emotionally. even if the lyrics include musings about lost balloons and phrases like "i should haven't," i just f***ing feel this music. you can tell she means what she says, even if it's horribly phrased. (also, the target tracks deserved standard-edition placement, and you can f***ing fight me on that.) the only song that is legitimately ruined by its lyrics is "into me you see," which places way too much of a spotlight on its "open sesame" line. favorites: swish swish, roulette, miss you more, bon appétit, save as draft, DWTD, AMA — unfavorites: into me you see 31. JHENÉ AIKO - 'TRIP' jhené aiko is f***ing underappreciated and y'all need to remedy this. this album is extremely long, but it features so many wonderful songs that feature such a wonderfully trippy mood i can't resist. there's some weird-ass talking but don't mind it, focus on the music. favorites: new balance, oblivion, overstimulated, sativa — unfavorites: the weird talking parts that take me out of the music
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 17, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 17, 2017 Dua Lipa and Blue Lips ; your BL favourites are the exact same for me with the inclusion of stranger too the amount of Witness favourites iamdisgusted.gif. particularly not a fan of MYM and SAD, never bothered listening to the target songs because no. Which songs are best to start with from trip regardless of your favourites? maybe a good mix between the accessible and the best of the best?
