Worst TV Of 2017: (12 - 7)

These are not bad per se (i'm sure there's much worse) just shows i was disappointed with:

12. Power

mDJBdey.jpg

You should never give kid actors too much airtime or a big storyline if they’re talentless (Tariq) But hey, love how my sis Angela kept the haters FUMING :heart2:

11. South Park

BEI6wkk.jpg

Only episodes involving Tweek, Craig and Heidi were interesting, the rest was boooring, which is a shame.

10. Chewing Gum

acOKoeF.jpg

Didn't like the new season, no one in the cast seems human to me, except for Michaela Coel who sadly had to carry the show on her own.

9. Broad City

fA1KabD.jpg

Sadly the girls lost their edge. "Witches" and "Florida" were supposed to be highlights yet didn’t have any effect on me and felt like pretty standard episodes offering nothing new or different.

8. Mr Mercedes:

giphy.gif

The Stephen King tv adaptation is the definition of corny but still gave us one of the best characters of 2017, Breeda Wool’s Lou Linklater

7. Veep:

5ZPuiea.jpg

- JLD : "**** **** mother****ing ****!1!!1!"

- Fomos: "Yasss kweeen slaaay me :jonny: ”

The show was not like this, the back and forth insults were just a bonus. Anyway i made a long rant abt it

I'm like THE defender for teen characters but Tariq is just not good :doc: I hope they do interesting things with him next season to make up for now 2 seasons worth of ****. The actor isn't half bad either apart from him always having that same facial expression lolol

I knew Broad City and Veep would appear! The latter isn't unjustified (even tho I liked it) BUT I was actually here for Broad City. Much more than last season which is when the show was at its worse for me. Witches and Florida were cute but the last few episodes were my faves. They felt like good ol' BC and actually made me laugh.

Chewing Gum def became more absurd and inconsistent yet I still liked half the season with the finale prob being my fave of the show

I don't watch TV but all of these look like trash :jonny:

nn i was just gonna say we both have BC at #9 then i saw it’s worst of :rip: Sis what’s good the show is great

perched for the rest tho :heart2:

screaming at veep

I feel conflicted about SP too

I somewhat like that they are going for storylines now, but I kind of miss the fun that earlier seasons had, and the Cartman/Heidi thing lasted way too long

Posted

It's so hard for me to admit that both Veep and Broad City had disappointing seasons since their both some of my all time favorite shows but I agree, BC didn't have that spark anymore (except Mushrooms which was a series highlight) and Veep completely seems to have lost it's intelligence and sense of humor. I hope Veep can redeem itself for it's final season and at least this season of BC had interesting character development and conflict

And yeah, Chewing Gum S1 is much better but I enjoyed S2

Exactly!!

Also this reminded of Noah Schnapp and how he was able pull it off with his performance on Stranger things 2 despite being a side character on the first season. Tariq has a similar showcase but it kinda failed, and i don't want to put the blame entirely on the actor (he had some moment in the finale) maybe it's on the writers too. His character is written as unsympathetic and distant, it makes it hard for anyone watching to care abt him or feel his guilt abt his sister dying.

I feel like a lot of the events in Broad City this year were just a repeat of season 1 and 2, that's why i was indifferent to most of the episodes, though there was some good stuff (i enjoyed the Denis O'Hare, Steve Buscemi and RuPaul cameos)

Tbh these are not that bad, honestly almost all of them had great first seasons worth checking out. There was definitely much worse crap aired this year.

"Bedbugs" was my fav episode of this year, the rest actually was just alright. I found myself a little surprised with how i much i warmed up to Ilana, i needed more scenes of her job.

I agree but at the same time i didn't mind it. In fact, Heidi's evolution was the one good thing abt this season really.

Yeah it's so weird how this show quickly fell off. You know you got to nothing to add to a character when resort to a pregnancy plot :biblio: I really feel bad for Amy. From that perfect nervous breakdown in S4 to whatever the **** happened to her this year... + the rest of the cast being useless apart from JLD and Tony Hale. I just want this final season to be decent.

To be fair, if the writers didn't redeem her this season i don't think i'd still support her.

I agrih about Heidi's evolution, her as a character I certainly didn't mind, but the whole relationship storyline went on for too long and it kind of is one of the reasons why I think SP this season isn't as sharp and funny as earlier seasons

Worst TV Of 2017: (6 - 1)

Second round of shows i disliked

6. Sherlock

BhLoN92.jpg

Pretty much everyone forgot about this one, and for a good reason.

5. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

s5TpFUI.jpg

I couldn’t tolerate anyone this season especially Carol Kane’s character + The Lemonade skit was NOT funny :fish2: Anyway thank god for Amy Sedaris

4. Room 104

jb6vlTa.jpg

That pizza boy episode was one of the worst things I’ve watched, so pretentious and bad

3. Big Mouth

sWZ0jIp.png

This is the ugliest looking animated series since Fanboy & Chum Chum :skull: Anyone who could endure watching this mess deserves a prize. Seriously how much did Kroll & Co get here?

2. AHS: Cult

v40yiEn.jpg

This season was truly awful; it feels like Ryan’s wet dreams coming to life (cult full of sexy white men lead by a maniac who like to take control over everything…) The twists reminded me of Coven except this one had no Bassett, Bates or Lange. And the fact that that some are praising Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson’s performances is a joke.

Overall it’s another show that wants to reflect on the chaos in the US yet fails to make any sense. So disappointing that the cult theme is wasted on a story like this. But here’s the thing; it’s no surprise that Murphy knows his audience. I don’t think he aspires to create another Asylum, he understands his fans like camp, sass, hot men and gore which is exactly what he delivered this year. At this point complaining about how terrible this show is becomes redundant, you either join in for the mess or ignore it all together. This is why I keep coming back each year even though hoping for something decent is a reach, and I dropped even less tragic shows.

And the worst show of the year is....

Spoiler

1. Liar

ucOQMWc.jpg

This series came out at the wrong time given the recent events of women coming forward with their experiences of sexual assault and the need to believe in their stories.

Unfortunately the show’s premise throughout its first few episodes is to wonder whether Froggatt’s character Laura might be lying about her rape (we only know she was right later during the season) It’s not at all empowering and doesn’t have any positive message. Relying on cheap soapy twists is not the way to handle a subject as delicate as this one (eg: somehow the plot required that Laura’s student gets in the hospital because she took some pills and didn’t want her father to know or else he’ll deport her back to her country(?) (can’t remember the specifics) and so she needs Froggatt’s help to convince the serial rapist surgeon to make up something, overall it’s a dumb way to pair these characters together so as to create tension, then there’s some other stupid stuff like the surgeon easily sneaking through a cop's house to drug her and the whole story with her sister who cheated on her husband with Laura’s ex + the “who shot JR” style cliff which was terrible and took away any credibility to Laura’s story. This could’ve been Rectify level good; it’s beautifully made, the performances were good. If only it had a better concept.

"...except this one had no Bassett, Bates or Lange"

Bloop! That show was pretty much carried by them and a few others. So glad I avoided this season.

Nnn I didn't realize Sherlock aired something this year :skull: We disagree on UKS tho - I loved the Lemonade skit, didn't like Amy Sedaris' part

Posted

Liar sounds like a complete mess too :doc:

Posted

i actually didnt watch any of these (in 2017). Good for me j guess

Posted

I really did forget Sherlock, I thought this season was awful. I like Evan Peters, wish he wasn't stuck in a Ryan Murphy rut, along with Sarah Paulson.

Room 104 was yikes! Other than those two I didn't see anything in the top (bottom) six.

Posted

Big Mouth

I just don't see what so good about it

Posted

I enjoy VEEP but thats about it...

Posted

I liked Kimmy Schmidt :emofish:

Big mouth is soooo lazy and Cult was so spectacularly uneven

Posted

AHS cult was nice I liked it :emofish:

not sure what Kimmy is doing there, for a moment I thought you were talking about the best shows :sorry:

The vagina scene in Big Mouth is hilarious :ahh: the rest is god awful though, and I want my time back.

good choice for your #1 though :fan:
