Dom Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 waitt at Cult, what a great show, tho it's no Coven.. .
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 27, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2017 EPs of 2017 pt. 1 Phoebe Ryan - James EP (pop) First time really listening to Phoebe and I was so in love with this EP. Love how she jumps from a more rnb sound to a pop sound easily. Faves: Should I (no. 92 on Bops of 2017) , Be Real, James Has Changed (no. 87 on Bops of 2017) MØ - When I Was Young EP (pop) I was waiting more for her second album but this quenched my thirst for a bit. The production reminds me of her debut but there's something emotional about a lot of the tracks that I love. Hopefully she hasn't scrapped M2 cuz I need to bop to whatever album Drum belongs on. Faves: bb (no. 26 on Bops of 2017) , Roots, When I Was Young Terror Jr. - Bop City 2/ 3 (pop) They did that with their 1-2-3 punch but to me their EPs got progressively better. The autotune could get annoying and the production too familiar but on Bop City 3 they really stepped up their sound. Faves: Holding Your Tongue, Useless (no. 136 on Bops of 2017), IDK + IDC Julia Michaels - Nervous System EP (pop) I was obsessed with this for a quick minute. The production was so much fun on some of these and with her whisper vocals, even the most simple of tracks feels so fresh and new. Faves: Pink (no. 89 on bops of 2017_, Uh Huh (no. 60 on bops of 2017), Worst in Me (really everything except the ballad ki) Astrid S - Party's Over (pop) Also the first time really getting into Astrid S and whew. I really love everything on this EP maybe except party's over. Faves: Sushi to Bloodstream, Such A Boy (no. 4 on bops of 2017) , Mexico (on the acoustic version but still a bop )

Dom Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Quote MØ - When I Was Young EP (pop) Mo did that, she really did that. This ep was interesting and didn't feel like it was done in a few days. it felt like it consumed a lot of time and mo really put her heart into it.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 WIWY is perfect mix of old and new MO loves it so much Nervous System has some nice jams
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 27, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2017 EP's of 2017 Part 2 Maggie Rogers - Now That The Light is Fading ( pop) I really only got into this a few weeks ago and I think it fits the winter a lot more. Reminds me of Lapsley with the light vocals and airy production. Faves: Better (no. 130 on bops of 2017), Alaska, On + Off Chloe X Halle - The Two of Us (rnb) I need full length versions for a lot of tracks on this. There's an ease to this mixtape I love so much. Faves: All of it H.E.R. - H.E.R (rnb) I don't consider this an album since it's like 3 EP's put together. Love the laid back rnb vibes. Feels nostalgic like listening to Aaliyah but there's something new here and I'm excited to see where she goes. Faves: Avenue, Say It Again (no. 17 on bops of 2017), Pigment Billie Eilish - dont smile at me ( pop) An EP that really could have been called her debut album. her sound is so interesting to me and I really love her easy vocals. Faves: watch ( no. 1 on bops of 2017), bellyache, copycat, ocean eyes Léon - Surround Me ( pop) Her 3rd EP and easily her best. All 4 songs are perfect. Faves: Body ( no. 2 on bops of 2017), I Believe in Us (no. 10 on bops of 2017)

MP2K Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Idk about Chloe X Halle yet. I didn't use Drop or whatever the song was called so I've been ignoring them. H.E.R. did that thing where new artists release all of their good songs or released all of these singles that by the time the album comes no one cares/we've heard it all before. It's still cute though

ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 28, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2017 Albums 37 - 40 40. Ella Vos - Words I Never Said (pop) This feels like a collection of songs vs an actual album since most of the tracks were released as singles beforehand so it’s at the bottom of my list for that but the result is still a pretty good album. The production on this is very interesting but feels one note after a while and the topics she talks about are very different from the usual topics of the heart that pop albums focus on. Faves: Down In Flames, White Noise, You Don’t Know About Me 39. Sevdaliza - ISON (electronic) An amazing debut album. I still don’t understand what half of the songs even mean but there’s something so beautiful about her sound. She easily weaves multiple genres together and still makes it her own. I was always worried she just rehashed FKA Twig’s sound but Sevdaliza is really doing something completely different with a more trippy sound and deeper vocals. Faves: Shahmaran, Human, Marilyn Monroe 38. Cupcakke - Queen Elizabitch (rap) Cupcakke is really stepping out of the meme rap box stans wanted her to be with this one. The production is a lot of fun and varies from more trap and hip hop beats to pop beats and I really love that. Her lyricism got so much better on this and it just makes me more excited to see where her career goes. Faves: Barcodes, CPR, 33rd 37. Jessie Ware - Glasshouse (pop, rnb) I was really disappointed with this when I first heard the album as a whole. Jessie traded her minimal electronic rnb sound for something more pop contemporary and it reminded me too much of an Ed Sheeran album. But there’s still so much emotion in this I really appreciate and the singles and some standouts still have that energy I look for in a Jessie record. Faves: First Time, Love to Love, Midnight
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 28, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2017 So glad u appreciate Cupcakke's talent. Like I know it's "ironic" to like her but she's a genuinely amazing lyricist. I couldn't get into ISON
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 28, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2017 Also surprised Billie snatched someone's #1. I don't rly like her but I think she has gr8 things in her future Having Sugarboy/Masseduction/Pills made me think LA is less of a standout but it's still soooo good.

I hope she gets more recognized. Honestly ISON didn't stick for me but when I remembered to listen to it, I always enjoyed it. It's too long for the kind of sound she has 6 minutes ago, madonnas said: Also surprised Billie snatched someone's #1. Billie snatched me this year and she's so young. Really can't wait to see where she goes Okay LA was cute till the album actually came out. Pills is hit or miss but I really loved it.
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 28, 2017 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2017 Albums 33 -36 36. Miley Cyrus - Younger Now (country-pop) I had to ignore her messy interviews during the era to listen to this and it’s actually not as bad as expected. A lot of the songs have really lazy lyrics and boring production. I was expecting more songs like 4x4 from bangerz which would have been a lot more interesting and more natural progression from bangerz to younger now. There were still standouts and let’s ignore that collab with miss Dolly. Faves: Younger Now, Inspired, Week Without You 35. Betty Who - The Valley (pop) This was such a fun record. Wish it came out in the summer rather than earlier in the year. I didn’t enjoy this as much as her debut but you can tell that Betty is trying to make that fun-pop music we’ve missed since the 2000’s though it sounds a bit dated. Faves: Some Kinda Wonderful, Human Touch, Mama Say 34. Kacy Hill - Like A Woman (indie-pop) A great debut album from Kacy. I love the ambition with trying to make a concept album for a debut but this didn’t work as well since I couldn’t tell there was a concept on my initial listens but there are some great tracks on here. She’s not really doing something completely new here but her sound is still pretty interesting. Faves: Hard To Love, Arm’s Length, Keep Me Sane 33. Fifth Harmony - Fifth Harmony (pop, rnb) On a first listen, I really loved this but overtime this grew old fast. You can tell there wasn’t really any inspiration behind this but there are hints at where they can take their sound in the future which I’m excited for. The more urban sound is perfect for the group and I can’t wait to see what they do in the future (if they ever release again ki) Faves: Angel, He Like That, Deliver
Pedro Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 I completely disagree with "Fifth Harmony". I loved at first listen, still love it today! Amazing trinity!
