World Eater Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Holding On (even though it's the fourth best single from the album nn), Everything Now and Can I Sit Next to You
lhdang2000 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 70-61: Bad Liar. I don't know any song from 60-51, but I'll stay perched.
potent Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Everything Now I need to check that Kiesza song, I've liked her in the past.
Pink Matter Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 RTJ, Jorja, Daniel (aye lmao), TWOD, and Arcade Fire (even if that is the only good song on the album dd) I'm so glad I got into Jorja especially. Hopefully we get an album out of her next year.
JGibson Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 3/10 Everything Now + Can I Sit Next To You?

Ewan Chaos Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Great picks! Of songs that are a bit "rare" to see I suppose - I love that Spoon song, I'm very pleased to see Momentz on your list (it's my #2 fave), and Jorja Smith I still need to check out that record! I have on track on my "music to look into" playlist but still haven't gotten around to it
TayRianaPH Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Feels is that summer song Issues + Location Everything Now punches! see you in my best of hun!

It also reminds me of early Alicia Keys and a little bit of Erykah Badu. Hopefully at the top of the year and no more singles, I hate when we've heard the entire album months before, I also want to see some upbeat tracks and bops like On My Mind and Tyrant. Usually what happens is all of the good songs are released leaving the weak tracks to sift through (think Mura Masa). At least with Jorja she only released On My Mind, Teenage Fantasy, and Beautiful Little Fools. One more single would be good, but then I'd need the album!
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 25, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 25, 2017 Luv Bad Liar obviously. Interesting Spoon pick as well, surprised at the diversity of their picks...

MP2K Posted December 26, 2017 Author Posted December 26, 2017 (edited) 100-91 90-81 80-71 70-61 60-51 50. Real Estate, “Darling” Real Estate has a sound that I know may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But they’re my go-to when I’m in a certain mood. You’re not going to get an expansion of sound, it’s been 9 years or so why the switch up now? With Real Estate you know where they stand; dreamy guitar washes and soothing calm vocals. “Darling” just has a cleaner and catchier guitar melody than some of their past work. Spoiler 49. Lady Gaga, “The Cure” After being burned out by the extraness of ARTPOP and the restrictiveness of Joanne you learn to settle with “cute” Gaga. That’s exactly what “The Cure” is, a cute little pop song. The exact opposite of what you’d expect from a Lady Gaga song. It has elements that scream generic and forgettable but the hook and melody that is absolutely addicting to me. I’m here for SAFEPOP. Spoiler 48. The xx, “Say Something Loving” While "On Hold" was a strong first single last year to introduce listeners, "Say Something Loving" did its best to reel me into The xx's new sound. The occasional off-key and overall speaking/monotone vocals makes this an interesting ballad. Spoiler 47. Moses Sumney, “Doomed” Shout out to the member that put me on, you know who you are. This song has gorgeous vocal melodies and warm, softly applied synths that put you at ease. What a beautiful voice Moses has. Spoiler 46. Grizzly Bear, “Three Rings” Grizzly never fails to serve mesmerizing layers and arrangements, switch-ups and stadium-ready guitar licks! Spoiler 45. GoldLink, “Meditation (feat. Jazmine Sullivan & KAYTRANADA)” Goldlink has the ability to blend R&B, electronic and Hip-Hop so well. This just WORKS. GoldLink rides KAYTRANADA’s bouncy beat without a problem and Jazmine’s guest vocals are great as usually does. It’s great to see her branch out a little bit and work with people in 2017 that you would have never expected her to work with, like Bryson Tiller for example, and even that was a decent duo for HBO’s Insecure. Spoiler 44. Lorde, “Sober” I wasn’t moved by “Greenlight” and any promotional song thatcame out afterwards. I thought Lorde would be over but “Sober” got me back in. The drums add a little tropical feel to it and the breathy pauses are kinda (sexy?). But the backings still give you that quirkiness that we’re use to with Lorde. Spoiler 43. Gallant, “Cave Me In (feat. Tablo & Eric Nam)” I know some folks were gushing over this but I really learned to appreciate this song during my New Wave of R&B rate, and I also became a fan. This isn’t even the alternative R&B that Gallant was serving with Ology, it’s just a standard/traditional R&B song. Gallant really sets the tone and the two K-Pop acts hold their own. It’s so smooth and sweet. Spoiler 42. Jorja Smith, “On My Mind” After a few slow jams Jorja proved that she can diversify her sound on this bumping grime track. It’s fun and has a nostalgic feel to it. Honestly, all that was missing was Azealia’s crazy ass or someone to hop on here with a sick rhyme. Spoiler 41. Kendrick Lamar, “The Heart Part 4” Kendrick’s had such a great year that you almost forgot that this was THE promotional/diss track at the top of 2017. Before “Humble,” Kendrick solidified himself as arguably the greatest rapper alive. He throws shots at Drake and Big Sean, who had no choice but to shut up, ending their beef once and for all. He still kept it socially conscious by dragging Trump and America’s mess. And he teased us about what was about to come in April (DAMN.) if any rapper didn’t get their **** together to put out good material. Spoiler . Edited December 26, 2017 by MP2K
Playa Playa Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Ahhh so many bops! (On My Mind, Sober, Meditation, etc) But my fave has to be Doomed And no lie, I kinda did forget about The Heart Part 4. It's hard as **** tho.
Temporal Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Dearly Beloved, Sober, the Cure + Kelela promo That XX album is overrated, but SSL is one of the few tracks I use. Both you and MLD hated Joanne and ARTPOP but the Cure brought you back; the Cure truly living up to its title!
