So it takes an actress turned vocalist to finesse Mac with an atmospheric, alternative R&B cover. Spoiler 99. Princess Nokia,“Saggy Denim (feat. Wiki)” I was skeptical about Princess Nokia as a rapper, but I’m impressed with this track. Good rap voice, good flow, and very 90’s hip-hop nostalgic with its production. Spoiler 98. Maggie Rogers,"On + Off” Maggie Rogers continues to release emotional electronic tracks doused in soothing vocals. 97. dvsn, “Morning After” dvsn forges ahead with a focus on their falsetto over a more danceable beat. Sensual slow jams is what they’re known for but they switched it up. Spoiler 96. Pond, “Sweep Me Off My Feet” Sounds like you’ve heard this before, right? Well, Pond is a new band featuring Tame Impala’s old multi-instrumentalist. That’s why it sounds so good. Spoiler 95. Spoon, “Do I Have to Talk You Into It” Battle between this and “Hot Thoughts,” “Do I Have to Talk You Into It” leaves you with a little more suspense. Spoiler 94. Priests, “Nothing Feels Natural” With Sleater-Kinney out of the picture, someone had to keep female Punk alive in 2017. Spoiler 93. Elbow, “Magnificent (She Says)” This is some old white man sailor music, and it’s great. Beautifully written and sung. Spoiler 92. Ibeyi, “Deathless” The French-Cuban duo delivered an exhilarating anthem that made me finally pay close attention to them. Spoiler 91. Laurel Halo, “Jelly” This song is as slippery as the title with its swerving structures, synths and uneasy melodies. That is what makes it fun though, especially the chorus.
