AidanUnderYou Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Love All Your Fault Pt. 1 getting a mention I couldn't agree more with what you said about it, Part 2 was such a let down minus a couple of songs. And Blue Lips is one of the best releases of the year taste so far except Maroon 5
Mark Rih Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Zara, Lana and Tove beautiful talented and confident ladies, love their albums
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 28, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2017 Here for Tove Lo, Lana and Zara. I didn't like Sam's and I ended up skipping most of Maroon 5's album. I actually loved Double Dutchess and AYF 2 had (not) the one which is my favorite Bebe song rn
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 28, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2017 Waiiit, Lana's album is over 70 minutes. that's a crime
Green Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) I liked Sam's new album. Lust for Life is also one of my favorite albums of the year. Double Dutchess has some great songs. It deserved better. Edited December 30, 2017 by Green
lhdang2000 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 I fully believe Red Pills Blues is M5's worst album of their career. The Thrill of It All & So Good tho.
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 28, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 28, 2017 Friege is my fave so far! Waiting for the full list!
TheWayWeWere Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 DD was actually good, it was just released in bad timing Blue Lips and LFL both girls went through

Pedro Posted December 31, 2017 Author Posted December 31, 2017 It's time to move on to the second, and final, set of my favorite albums of 2017! Tonight, I will also give you a first tease of the songs that will not be among my favorite singles of the year. GENRE(s): Pop | LENGTH: 57:28 | LABEL: Capitol I believe we all can agree Katy Perry was capable of delivering a better album for her standards yet "Witness" is not as bad as many make it seem. There's a few non-eventful songs such as "Power" or "Into Me You See" but then, on the other hand, you have flawless tunes such as the three first singles, "Pendulum" or "Roulette". The funny thing about this record - and maybe the reason why it underperformed - is how the singles chosen to promote it ("Chained To The Rhythm", "Bon Appetit" or "Swish Swish") didn't exactly reflect the sound or content of the record. While one would expect more commercial tunes, "Witness" doesn't really give the listener that, does it? Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Roulette", "Bon Appetit (feat. Migos)" & "Pendulum". GENRE(s): Alternative Pop | LENGTH: 40:58 | LABEL: Republic Who knew I would end up loving this album as much as I do today. Not only, at first, I didn't exactly fall in love for "Green Light" but I also found it too short, without much to offer but with time, every track started being an highlight and every track started sounding great to my ears, even "Hard Feelings" which I found hard to appreciate. Nonetheless, and even though I truly love "Melodrama" I found it shocking that it got so much acclaim with the critics! It was nice to come across that though as it truly proves that there's a big difference between success and quality. What I truly love about this album - among its diversity - is the lyric content it provides. "Writer In The Dark" is probably my favorite track of the album and it contains the best line in it: "I love you 'til you call the cops on me". This is touching! Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Writer In The Dark", "Perfect Places" & "Homemade Dynamite". GENRE(s): Pop | LENGTH: 55:38 | LABEL: Big Machine The fact that Taylor Swift's album releases have became major events in Pop music is quite weird yet great to see as I truly love seeing people actually buying music. Well, I wasn't very keen on "1989" despite of all the love it got from everyone but I can see why people are falling for "reputation". At this point, Taylor is one of the main people in music and she has the world in her hands and with this I mean the best producers. She knows what the audience wants and she always puts out the right sound at the right time. With "reputation", she chose to go for more urban sounds ("End Game", "...Ready For It"), minimalistic productions ("Delicate", "Look What You Made Me Do") and she did not forget her breathtaking midtempos ("Call It What You Want" or "Gateway Car") which I completely love. With all this being said, it's safe to say she is heading for another great era filled with hits. Still find it weird how she has so many haters yet such great success and how well she adapted to the Pop industry. Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Delicate", "Look What You Made Me Do" & "Call It What You Want". GENRE(s): Pop | LENGTH: 42:59 | LABEL: Island It still is so weird to see Demi Lovato charting so high among my Best Ofs - spoiler alert! But anyway, I wasn't very excited for this era of her after "Sorry Not Sorry" was released. I find it so childish, immature and unecessary but good for her that it became a hit. With this being said, I went without expectations towards the record as I was scared of finding this type of songs again but, luckily, I didn't. Actually, "Tell Me You Love Me" shows growth and maturity. Songs such as the album titled track ("Tell Me You Love Me"), "Daddy Issues" or "You Don't Do It For Me Anymore" do prove it. Demi delivered a very consistent and solid piece of work. From the sound to the vocals, it kind of has a little bit of everything. The fact that her previous album got a Grammy nomination and this one - which is miles better - didn't doesn't make much sense in my head but then again, the Grammy Awards is only based on reputation, when will everyone get that? Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Cry Baby", "Tell Me You Love Me" & "Daddy Issues". GENRE(s): Synth-Pop | LENGTH: 48:43 | LABEL: Astralwerks I never really paid attention to Halsey until this year. As I mentioned during my previous update, when talking about Sam Smith's "The Thrill Of It All", I decided it was time to leave all my prejudice on certain artists behind and just enjoy the music. With this being said, I never had a problem with Halsey yet I never found her enough interesting to explore her records. Thankfully, I put that idea behind and went in for "Hopeless Fountain Kingdom" only to be slayed. Even though the record got old really fast, there's so many great, catchy and perfect productions in it. I also love the way Halsey writes and how she invited my baby Lauren Jauregui on board for "Strangers". Up until today, I can't forgive her for giving the best song on the album - "Walls Could Talk" - less than two minutes. What was she thinking? Oh well... At least "Devil In Me" and "Don't Play" are long enough. Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Walls Could Talk", "Devil In Me" & "Don't Play". GENRE(s): Country Pop | LENGTH: 48:39 | LABEL: RCA Not up until getting my Best Of ready for 2017 did I understand how much I liked Kesha's "Rainbow". I believe the reason why I thought I didn't is because I truly dislike a few songs such as "Boogie Feet" and "Old Flames" and that must've hurt my perspective on it. Thankfully I remembered how much I appreciated the vast majority of the songs and I knews that not only it had to be in it but it had to be high and here it is. Kesha has proven she is a very good singer - despite not being able to hit the whistle in the beautiful "Praying" live - and she only reinforced her amazing songwritting abilities. During "Rainbow" she explores so many different styles that make her album so unique and versatile. I also truly like the empowering message she portrays in it that ends up not coming off as a desperate attempt after the Dr. Luke incident. Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Learn To Let Go", "Boots" & "Praying". GENRE(s): Latin Pop | LENGTH: 43:57 | LABEL: Sony Yo sé que todos vosotros esperarían que Shakira fuera mi número uno. Bueno... Surprise, surprise! While I truly love "El Dorado" and all of the songs in it - except for "Comme Moi" which I only like - I have to be realistic and admit that Shakira did a very poor job... Not with the songs, as I said I love all of them... "Amarillo", "Coconut Tree", "Trap" are just three of the great songs included in it but when "El Dorado" came out everyone already knew approximately 50% of it. It came out as a lazy and rushed project and I could not give a top 3 to that. Despite offering little new material, Shakira made sure to include many different styles of music. She obviously took her shot at reggaeton ("Perro Fiel") giving the boom, she included an exclusive Latin Pop Dance song ("Me Enamoré"), her duet with Prince Royce that featured Bachata ("Deja Vu") and she even touched R&B in "Trap". Damn, my girl just can't catch a break on being the most versatile artist out there! Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Trap (feat. Maluma)", "Amarillo" & "Coconut Tree". GENRE(s): Pop | LENGTH: 40:43 | LABEL: Warner Bros. It's not easy to be a new artist in town and to have such flawless material to put out an amazing first album but Dua Lipa, literally, "did that!" "Dua Lipa" is such an amazing Pop record that while being Pop falls outside of what we should consider generic, overdone and tiring. All of her songs are quite unique and she not only released a song named "New Rules" but she named them and has grabbed one of the biggest hits of 2017. It'll be interesting to see what 2018 brings for her as I am pretty sure she is not yet giving up on the album. There's a lot of tracks with potential remaining and that's what makes this record so good, I fail to think of one song that would be a bad single choice. While "New Rules" is truly the jam of the record, songs such as "Homesick", "IDGAF" or "Blow Your Mind" are equally amazing. Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Homesick", "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)" & "New Rules". GENRE(s): Pop, Soul | LENGTH: 44:08 | LABEL: Atlantic I was not ready for such slayage coming from Kelly Clarkson after her previous album "Piece By Piece". She took the lead and she knew exactly what she wanted to do and who to work with. She had the right team with her, the right direction and, of course, being one of the best vocalists out there, she just knew what she had to do to showcase that. "Meaning Of Life" is not an album for everyone as it features a lot of Soul - a music style not commonly loved by Pop fans, Kelly's main supporters. The album, though, just gives you so much. While giving us powerful soulful songs such as "Whole Lotta Woman" or the epic first single "Love So Soft", Kelly didn't forget her roots and delivered pop rock influences in songs such as "Heat" or "Medicine". She also didn't forget Pop home and delivered the beautiful "Would You Call That Love" or the closing hot track "Go High". Damn, she even made me appreciate "I Don't Think About You", a type of ballad I generally dislike... On the other hand she gave us a beautifully written ballad named "Move You". Favorite tracks (no specific order): "Would You Call That Love", "Medicine" & "Love So Soft". GENRE(s): Pop, R&B | LENGTH: 33:03 | LABEL: Epic I am probably going to be called "biased" or "tasteless" for giving Fifth Harmony their deserved #1 spot. As mentioned in my first albums set, I took in consideration a lot of factors when building this specific chart and the group had literally no competition. Why? Firstly, and most importantly, I truly love all of the album. I may skip "Bridges" a few times but other than that, I could listen to it on repeat and not be bored. In fact, despite only featuring ten songs, it still sounds so fresh to me. I get the same feeling I had the first time I heard the songs and, to me, that's very important and kind of poves that I am not being biased but faithful to my taste and feelings. Songs like "Lonely Night" or the generic-yet-epic "Sauced Up" bring a feeling to my body and mind not many songs are capable of and, besides all that, the division in parts among the girls is perfect. Besides my obvious love for the album, the girls put much more of them in the record and truly showed evolution. To finish, "Fifth Harmony" was truly my most played album of 2017. Thank you, girls! Favorite tracks: I can't possibly mention only three, sorry. Before wrapping up this update, I will give you a quick first look at my favorite singles of 2017! Well, sort of. I will not be spoiling any of the 100 entries that made the chart or the ten that almost made it. Overall, my single chart contained 215 songs: I loved some, liked others, dislike a few and hated more. Here's a few songs you should NOT expect to see among the first 110 songs. Spoiler No... Just no: 215. Luis Fonsi - "Échame La Culpa (feat. Demi Lovato)" 210. Little Mix - "Power (feat. Stormzy)" 209. Noah Cyrus - "Stay Together" Still not good: 204. N.E.R.D. - "Lemon (feat. Rihanna)" 201. Ed Sheeran - "Perfect" 196. Bruno Mars - "That's What I Like" 190. Ed Sheeran - "Galway Girl" 187. Eminem - "Walk On Water (feat. Beyoncé)" Getting better: 182. Miley Cyrus - "Younger Now" 177. Sam Smith - "Too Good At Goodbyes" 174. J. Balvin - "Mi Gente (feat. Beyoncé)" 170. P!nk - "What About Us" 161. Shawn Mendes - "There's Nothing Holding Me Back" There were simply better songs: 153. Lady Gaga - "John Wayne" 149. Dua Lipa - "Lost In Your Light (feat. Miguel)" 142. Demi Lovato - "Sorry Not Sorry" 134. Nicki Minaj - "No Frauds (feat. Lil' Wayne & Drake)" 130. P!nk - "Beautiful Trauma" 123. Selena Gomez - "Bad Liar" 116. Maluma - "Felices Los 4" 114. Pitbull & J. Balvin - "Hey Ma (feat. Camila Cabello)" 112. Fergie - "You Already Know (feat. Nicki Minaj)" Next: Best 100 Singles of 2017, Set I NOTE: As long as you're one of the members present in the comments section of this (and the previous) set, expect a post from me in your Best Of.

soml Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 TMYLM, Dua Lipa and El dorado are amazing albums
lhdang2000 Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 A lot of great albums: Kelly's, Dua's, Kesha's, Demi's, Taylor's, Katy's, Lorde's. El Dorado is bad, and this is her first album that I don't like. Okay, all the featuring tracks and singles before the album was great, but the new tracks are not good.
Ivan Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Bad Liar, Felices los 4 and What About Us deserved more im kinda agree with echame la culpa and younger now, the lead singles were so much better thant this, both were kinda dissapointing
