Bubble Tea Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Hey I'm so glad I stumbled upon this thread! Just read your reviews about Coco and I completely agree - it's a BRILLIANT movie! It seems to be really flying under the radar?? It's kinda weird. Everybody needs to haul their asses out to see it - it's great! "Remember Me" is cute, but I agree, I rushed home to listen to it and felt... nothing. However in the film the reprise(s) destroyed me. I loved your write-up on both Witness and reputation as I too have strong feelings on both. It's hard to disassociate the celebrities, videos and image from the music itself and I know that's something that ATRL struggles with a lot. They see a song as flopping on the charts and suddenly see/hear it as a bad song. It's demented how easily influenced we are! I think you're spot on with Witness - the production is TOP NOTCH! And I do reckon better than reputation, which honestly is repetitive. Witness kinda is cohesive in the way how different it all sounds - it's kinda meant to be all over the place. It's Katheryn unleashed, it's her exploring her artistry outside the confines of pop's sexiest, fun & bubbly popstar. It's been cool to see a different side of her - turns out she's VERY different to the character she played for so many years. reputation is a fantastic pop album, there's no denying it. I have never been drawn back to a Taylor album over and over, but this past month or whatever I have been listening to it over and over and there are 5 songs I LOVE. I'm sure more smash singles will be to come. Will it age well? It is unfortunately predictable and the themes are meh, and the attempt at making media statements and responses via her music were inevitable but boring nonetheless.
KasioKas Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Love the TMYLM writeup, very accurate, I'm so happy she's finally given a quality album like this one and I'll be listening to it well into 2018!
