It is that time of year again, where I announced my (mostly predictable) best of 2017!

 

This year things will be different, as we will simply be counting down my Top 100 Most Played Songs of the Year and then I will be revealing my personal favourite songs in the Mezik's Music Awards of 2017.

What are the Mezik's Music Awards?

This year, instead of doing a "best of list" for each category things will be different this year. I will have categories, and list my top five selections for each category. Once the nominations are revealed, I will have a night where I announce the winner of each category. It is a tester year, and depending on how it turns out - may be my new format.  

 

What are the categories?

There will be six nominations in each of the following categories

 

Best New Artist

Song of the Year (Strictly Lyrics, Includes Album Tracks)

Single of the Year

Album of the Year

Music Video of the Year

Collaboration of the Year

Pop Single of the Year

Country Single of the Year

Rock Single of the Year

R&B/Hip-Hop Single of the Year

 

What will the eligibility be?

Unlike the 'Top 100 Most Played Songs of the Year', the categories will strictly reflect only songs/singles/albums released in 2017 (or released in Dec. 2016 that peaked in 2017). Music Videos that were released in 2017, but had the official tracks released in 2016 will still count for 2017. Best New Artists must have had their first breakthrough hit (Top 40 on whichever is their home respective chart) in 2017.
