For the kpop question from eariler i think you would like: Oh Na Na - KARD (very on trend, like pop rihanna) Baby Don't Like It - NCT127 (very 90s rnb boy group) I Got Love - Taeyeon (pbrnb with a quiet chillwave esque breakdown) G-dragons Kwon Ji Yong EP (its mostly bratty rap but i think its a cohesive project, and the ballad (untitled) is phenom

I'll make sure to check these out (might start with NCT127 and Taeyeon)
bluth Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 i think kesha managed to make a record that was ~~~authentic~~~ sounding while still feeling like it was genuinely her and not a slight on her earlier material. aside from it being great to hear her again, it's very deserving! plunge + bft are also excellent and my faves from the albums. rookie (album) felt a little carried by the title track but body language was my second fave. babyface is fuN!
K$Ellie Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Uhhhhh Dua Lipa, MASSEDUCTION and Utopia not making the cut Rainbow in the top 30 I love your standouts I haven't heard the Red Velvet album but Peek-A-Boo is a bop CollXtion is good, Vintage and Paper Love >>>
lhdang2000 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) El Dorado in top 20? Power is...disappointing as a re-release, I wish they could've gone with What U Do or something like that, it shows that sexy, seductive vibe from them. The album was full of tracks like that, and they still pick Power to promote/rerelease. Likey is too cheesy for my taste. Edited December 24, 2017 by lhdang2000
World Eater Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Big Fish Theory and Ti Amo Nightmare Logic was also gewd from what I've heard
Topmaster 2 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 I have to take a look at Power Trip. Shakira here... Declan + Phoenix + Vince

Tom Vercetti Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Summertime > BFT imo but ofc I like both. Power Trip was some nice thrash. Wasn't feeling Phoenix at all this year aside from a couple of songs.

ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 26, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 26, 2017 And hopefully Happy placing in top 70 means that babyface will make the top 3??
jose168 Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 ~kpop~ 50. All Night - Girls' Generation While it was by far the more serviceable of the two title tracks this round, I think it showed that SNSD was going to have trouble finding their place in a post-Twice world. Still legends and a nice bow out though. A cute electropop bop that doesn't sound too dated even if it should. Spoiler 49. Hobgoblin - CLC Cube has revamped this group to try and fill the 4minute void and under HyunA's style direction they kinda get it down. The bratty electrotrap pop song with plenty of nasal raps contrasted by bombast vocal bridges sound like a 'Crazy' clone clown. Spoiler 48. Singing In The Rain - JinSoul While most group efforts from LOONA have underwhelmed me a bit, their solos are quite exciting. JinSoul like Kim Lip went for an rnb direction and shows off some soulful vocals. Even the cheesy drop doesn't sound bad at all. Spoiler 47. Zoo - Red Velvet I kinda rag on this song a bit but it's only because i secretly love it. While it may just be another tropical pop song, Red Velvet have a knack for interesting song structure and the ZOO ZOO ZOO ZOO in the chorus is bound to get stuck in your head. A great pop song. -no video- 46. Eyez Eyez - VICTION I really really really like this electro rnb thing that seems to be catching on in kpop and its a trend I can even see passing on to the west. The exciting vocal runs along exciting production works. I also love the slowed down intro and outro for the song, theatre dahling Spoiler 45. Ninano - Minzy This song feels like it was built around a dance with it's hesitant verses and lots and lots of build up. And where you would expect a drop it kind of gives you this breathy reverb over quiet instrumental. Regardless the song always still feels fast paced. Spoiler 44. We Like - Pristin We Like was kind of everything when it came out. Pristin is one of the new groups I look out for because they seem to have a more original take on the school girl concept without being super aegyo. It's a balance and they work it out. The only reason this song didnt place higher is for being completely being carried by the chorus which is great but not that great. Spoiler 43. Limitless - NCT127 Cherry bomb being bigger than this is just.... idk. This electropop song has a very dark vibe to it with the chorus being kind of sinister chant. All of the raps are tight and there really isn't much to complain about in this song. The hairstyles were all choices though. Spoiler 42. Downpour - I.O.I. Spoiler alert: My favorite 'disbandment song' this year. This ballad is actually gorgeous and I love that the lyrics are not so obvious. It's also easy to be invested because they debuted and disbanded in like a year, and they left at the height of their potential. It was a nice treat to the fans they attained. Spoiler 41. In The Club - Imfact These guys served a VOCAL. sounds like a cheesy early 2000s rnb ballad. Like a dilemma rehash. And why dont we have more of those?? Spoiler

Didn't expect 'Now, We' to be this catchy kinda like an AKB48 sing. I recently got into LOONA and some of the stuff i heard was actually nice! And yeah that description of Time Lapse is pretty accurate. Nice set of albums! Likewise, while peekaboo grew on me its def one of their weaker singles. But theyve been on such a streak since russian roulette that I can't be mad. Glad you liked Now, We i lowkey have high hopes for lovelyz if they dont break up and start working at burger king
jose168 Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 (edited) 18. The Underside Of Power - Algiers We love genre clash. Noise pop, Hard Rock, Gospel all come together for a religious experience, all tied together by the rich and insanely emotive voice of the lead singer. Half of the album sounds like battle cries and I can get down with that. See: The Underside Of Power, Cleveland, Walk Like A Panther 17. Mister Mellow - Washed Out While many fans seemed to be underwhelmed by Mister Melow, i thought it was quite a treat. It's quite a bit more literally chill in chillwave than their previous efforts, but every track really transports you to that slothy relaxed and hazey state at a beach where you're out catching a tan, not really wanting to engage with anyone. Anywaysss, what I'm saying is you don't really have to reinvent the wheel every time, sometimes people just wanna groove. See: Burned Out Blues, Hard To Say Goodbye, Get Lost 16. Slowdive - Slowdive One of the most stunning albums of the year just at a listening standpoint. The production is immaculate. And for shoegaze, there are some notable standout organic instrumentation that always stands above the fog like a lighthouse and commands your attention. See: Slomo, Sugar For The Pill, No Longer Making Time Edited December 27, 2017 by jose168
Lucas32 Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Phoenix, Vince (although I was meh on the album itself) and Slowdive can't really comment on the k-pop stuff
