Hello ATRL! It's my favourite time of the year as I get to reflect on all the amazing music released throughout 2017! The Double Countdown, inspired by the iconic Double Dutchess album by ATRL Legend Fergie, has already launched and throughout the next couple of days will cover my:

Top 50 Singles of 2017

Top 15 Albums of 2017

Spoiler

50. Keyshia Cole f/ Remy Ma & French Montana - You

Possibly Keyshia's weakest single material despite the support from fellow colleagues Remy Ma and French Montana. The potential for a low-charting BBH100 hit was there, the promo budget not so much.

49. Selena Gomez f/ Gucci Mane - Fetish

Selena's best offering this year. This is the type of sound she should gravitate towards on her next LP as it perfectly compliments her vocal range. Gucci Mane on the other hand could have gone. :cm:

48. Stargate f/ P!nk & Sia - Waterfall

The first P!nk entry on the chart and first Sia entry since 2014 when 'Chandelier' charted in the lower 40s of my Best of Chart. There's not much that could be said there besides great verses, beautiful verses.

47. Jax Jones f/ Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don - Instruction

A cute little summer bop which quickly died off for me. Demi's on fire as per usual, however, I find the lyrical content cringy and clichéd.

46. Mary J Blige f/ Kanye West - Love Yourself

I will never get why Mary's team never capitalised on Kanye's name to push the song and instead went for Di$count Rocky for a remix nobody asked for. And while not something you can listen to on a daily, it is still a great uplifting song nonetheless.

45. P!nk - What About Us

Second of three P!nk entries so far and least favourite lead from her. She should've left the repetitive beats for Ed Sheeran to recycle and let's not get started on those lyrics, cause they just ain't cute for the most part.

Spoiler

44. Anastacia - Caught in the Middle

A great comeback from sprock queen Anastacia and probably her best song since 'Stupid Little Things' in 2014. Too bad the album was a bit of a disappointment.

43. French Montana f/ Mariah Carey & Swae Lee - Unforgettable Remix

I never paid attention to this song until the Mariah remix came out. The contrast that Mariah provides to the otherwise monotonous track and those amazing ad-libs in the background totally upgraded the song.

42. Nelly Furtado - Pipe Dreams

This one came out back in October 2016, however, I couldn't get into it until late Decemeber/early January when it became the soundtrack to my day to day life. I don't listen to it as much now as I did back then, but I still appreciate the song structure, production and particularly the relatable message it conveys.

41. Jessie J - Real Deal

A lot of people on ATRL hated this one but for me it's Jessie's best song since 2013's 'Wild'. Not a massive fan of Jessie, but this new direction she has for her upcoming album is something that caught my attention. Honorable mentions go to 'Think about That' and 'Not My Ex' which failed to make it to the Top 50.

40. Shakira - Me Enamoré!

Shakira at her silliest can sometimes be a cringe fest in its finest. But in all honesty, 'Me Enamoré!' is a catchy summer tune which you will probably enjoy more if you didn't know Spanish that well.

39. Kelly Clarkson - Move You

Whew, a song! Kelly's vocals are on point, I love her lower register on this one. And while the underlying message is beautiful, it really shows that this song was written by someone else, which takes away from it's authenticity.
