Kim Kardashian Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 TMYLM & Passionfruit >>> I've seen So It Goes on a lot of lists Need to check it out.
World Eater Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Whew, taste So It Goes..., Passionfruit and I Wish I Didn’t Miss You Star Roving is also nice, although I'd probably put it on my bottom 3 from Slowdive's s/t. Have yet to listen to Suf's song, but I wanna see CMBYN first
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 14, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 14, 2017 Yaeji made Drake's version of the song pointless! The erykah badu of 2017. I liked Smoke Signals but hated her album
Body Electrician Posted December 15, 2017 Author Posted December 15, 2017 (edited) Top 20 Songs of 2017 - Part 3 10. Wolf Alice - Planet Hunter A moment's madness complements your innocence... A standout from their sophomore album about getting "mash up one New Year's Eve". I relate. 9. St. Vincent - Slow Disco Slip your hand from my hand, leave you dancing with a ghost... I didn't pay MASSEDUCTION much attention when it was first released, especially after the disappointing New York, but this stellar track surprised me during one listen and has gone on to be one of my favourite St. Vincent tracks ever. 8. Harry Styles - From the Dining Table Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too... I had the highest hopes for Harry's debut album out of all the 1D boys and was proved right, especially by the final track on the record with its Oasis-like production in the chorus and soft vocal performance. More of this and less Sweet Creature on HS2 please. 7. Kesha - Spaceship Lord knows this planet feels like a hopeless place - thank God I'm going back home to outer space Stripping away the autotune and electronic beats allowed Kesha to shine in a way she hadn't before on Rainbow, and this message of Spaceship is beautiful and sad at the same time, whilst the outro is a sort of lovely-but-depressing reality check. 6. The Jesus and Mary Chain - War on Peace Blow some money, kill some time, soak myself in blood red wine.... On their first album in 19 years, The Jesus and Mary Chain come through with some excellent and unique alternative rock, including this standout with throbbing reverb and pulsing vocals. K$Ellie Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Spaceship being so high I feel like the only person who doesn't like From The Dining Table Slow Disco is beautiful Sorry isn't one of my faves on the album but it's amazing So It Goes..., Tell Me You Love Me and Passionfruit
K$Ellie Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Omg yaaass girl drag Cult and Pretty Little Liars I wasted so much time on PLL and at one point it stopping being "so bad it's good" and got plain bad Cult started off ok but it got unbearable and I didn't like anyone in it, the fact that some people acted like it was a masterpiece when it was pure trash Big Little Lies slaying
theblackestday Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 (edited) Planet Hunter is possibly the greatest song of all time Also, Slow Disco is the best song on Mass so great choice xo Edited December 15, 2017 by theblackestday
Body Electrician Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 (edited) Top 10 Songs of 2017 - Part 4 5. Mac DeMarco - Moonlight on the River It's so strange, deciding how to feel about it, it's such a strange emotion standing there beside it... This Old Dog is Mac's most consistent work yet and the mellower tones present in songs like this allowed his psychedelic pop to have emotional impact unlike anything he'd done before. 4. Mount Eeerie - Swims We are all so close to not existing at all... Out of all the soul crushing songs of A Crow Looked at Me, this one had the most impact. I've never cried as much to a song before. 3. Lorde - Writer in the Dark I am my mother's child I love you 'til my breathing stops, I love you 'til you call the cops on me... Lorde explained that she had listened to a lot of Kate Bush in the creative stages of Melodrama, and it couldn't be more present in this amazing cut, with Lorde taking her vocals to another level and beautifully describing the aftermath of a relationship. 2. Lana Del Rey - Heroin I'm flying to the moon again dreaming about heroin, how it gave you everything and took your life away... Whilst Lust for Life wasn't Lana's strongest album, it did produce some career bests, such as this 10/10. The Manson references and subtle guitar in the chorus made this a classic and timeless Lana track. And the best song of 2017 is..... 1. Father John Misty - Pure Comedy Just random matter scattered in the dark - I hate to say it but each other's all we've got... J. Tillman tackled themes on Pure Comedy that no other artist is addressing these days. This song is my atheist anthem and its powerful vocal performance and poignant lyrics make it my best song of 2017. Thanks for tuning in, top 10 albums in the next couple days! elvenOCEAN Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 "Heroin" is beautiful! I've just listened to Father's album this week and "Pure Comedy" was an obvious stand-out track for me.
theblackestday Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Kate Bush in the Dark is the best song on Melodrama so lets celebrate that Wig @ Heroin, a true career highlight
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 21, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 21, 2017 Shocked at the acclaim for Spaceship WHY HAS NOBODY CHOSEN THE CORRECT LANA SONG
Bubble Tea Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Spaceship and Writer in the Dark! I kinda slept on that K$ song for a minute and one day I finally heard the lyrics and I was like "omg kween is SPEAKING TO ME!" It was Gaga's "Venus" sweet, more innocent and tender little cousin song. Rather then screeching "TAKE ME TO YOUR PLANET!" it's a more thoughtful, tender "I don't think I belong here, please take me home? " Writer in the Dark is just powerful in its simplicity. I saw her tour live in Wellington and she sang this a ccapella and KILLED it.
