Body Electrician Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 Top 10 TV Shows - Part 1 10. Orphan Black - Season 5 (BBC America) As always I struggled to understand most of the scientific mumbo jumbo behind this underappreciated show, but that doesn't hinder my enjoyment of it when Tatiana Maslany manages to create so many characters with such depth. This season didn't hold back on the emotionally charged scenes that became ever present in the previous season and I found myself in tears more than once. Whilst it wasn't the perfect ending, it was a realistic one. The Clone Club will be dearly missed. 9. Channel Zero: No End House (Syfy) Unlike the latest season of American Horror Story, this horror anthology favoured mood and tone over campy characters and soapy plots. A slow burner, No End House transformed the iconic Creepypasta into a dreary suburban nightmare, whilst showing more consistency than the previous Candle Cove instalment. The focus on Margot over the more interesting Jules did lead to plot issues, however, and the season fizzled out towards the end. The constant what-the-***-ness of this show makes it worth watching alone. 8. Stranger Things 2 (Netflix) I struggled to watch the first few episodes of this, almost naming it a victim of the sophomore slump - Eleven being stuck in a shed for half the season, Nancy moping over Barb's death, the unnecessary new characters etc. However, mid-season this managed to return to season 1 quality (and even surpass it). I didn't even mind the universally panned Eleven-centric episode which many seemed to deem some sort of war crime on a par with Emoji Movie. The final few episodes set mainly in the lab were some of the most suspenseful hours of television this year. 7. Homeland - Season 6 (Showtime) Homeland again improves in quality after the 1-2-3 decline. The setting of political turmoil and terrorist threats was all too relevant, and Carrie managed to steer us through once again. The conspiracy plot allowed for a season long mystery that kept me on my toes and culminated in some of the best scenes in Homeland history. 6. Orange is the New Black - Season 5 (Netflix) Another Netflix show that started off poorly but returned to excellence towards the season end. This season took risks, such as the "entire season paced over 3 days" idea (which I was very skeptical about) and even delving into the horror genre for one episode, but these ultimately paid off to create a unique season full of the usual OITNB traits. It almost felt like more of an interlude between the events of season 4 and 6, but it luckily did this in a Burnt Norton way and not a Paradisia way. Season highlights include Flaritza (ofc) and the Meth Heads. Part 2 Coming Soon

Sunderland 4ever Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I love this one: 8. Stranger Things 2 (Netflix) Actually, I just finished watching it yesterday.
Bubble Tea Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Excited to read your review about Stranger Things 2 - I watched the first episode and was bored. IDK what it is cause I loved the first season but for some inexplicable reason I have zero enthusiasm to return for season 2. I guess it all just felt so nicely wrapped up in the first season that's it's almost like "what is there to revisit?" but a few people have said it's just as good, if not better. Time for me to get stuck in!
ManDown Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I haven't seen S2 of Strangers Things, but am planning on it within the next few weeks! Orange. This was one of their best seasons to date. The backstories f**ked with me a bit.

Yeah, even though I prefer the Candle Cove creepypasta, I think they overcomplicated the TV show and I was completely tuned out by the end. Plus I didn't really care for any of the characters. No End House still wasn't perfect but it did what it had to do efficiently and in a much creepier way IMO. 8 hours ago, Reinvention said: Excited to read your review about Stranger Things 2 - I watched the first episode and was bored. Power through them, it really picks up mid-season! 8 hours ago, ManDown said: I haven't seen S2 of Strangers Things, but am planning on it within the next few weeks! Orange. It's always been a bit messy and I don't even like the plot that much but I just love the characters Alison is a QUEEN
