Hug Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 #7: SOHEE - Spotlight Here it is – Dancefloor Spotlight’s second official theme song! This song captures the same feelings of young love that Sixteen does, at least for me. It’s always an experience to listen to this song, and I can just imagine two young lovers running off into the night together when I listen to this. I’m really mad that SOHEE is in a group and that their music is trash compared to this, but whatever. Maybe she’ll get another solo or the group’s music will stop being trash! This is SOHEE’s only appearance on the countdown.“새까만 하늘에 외롭던 너와 만나 시간이 흐르다 잠시 멈춘 걸까” “Under the dark sky, you and I, who were lonely, met. Did time stop for a moment…?”
Hug Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 #6: The Weeknd - Party Monster Are we surprised this is on here? We shouldn’t be because my countdown was named after this song. I was obsessed with this song for a good part of the year, and still the verses go ALL THE WAY OFF. Definitely the best part of the song. Also, here’s a fun fact: this is Lana Del Rey’s best song! Finally she made a BOP. This is The Weeknd's last appearance on the countdown. “I’ve been poppin’, just took three in a row. I’m down to do it again, I’m on a roll.” Up next is the High Scores, but we already know who is winning that one kii.

Tinie Tempah, Zara Larsson - 300 49. No Riddim, Megan Lee - 200 50. Halsey - 100 Unsurprisingly, Kesha takes another gigantic leap on the high scores, and now has more points than second and third place COMBINED. With it being this late in the game, and her still having at least one more entry on the countdown, it looks like nobody is going to be able to come out of Kesha's storm unscathed. The rest of the Top 5 remains unchanged from yesterday, though The Weeknd rises up over 20 spots to 6th place, making him the biggest jump today! (or...the ONLY jump.) While the #1 is actually impossible to change at this point, could the other spots in the Top 5 be shook? Tune in tomorrow for the finale! Up next is the Dancefloor Spotlight, and if you're a K-Pop fan today, then you probably already know what's coming. Today has been heartbreaking.
Hug Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 This is...a difficult one, but I figured I should do it. I've been a fan of K-Pop for quite a few years now, and I still remember the first K-Pop song I ever loved. SHINee's Lucifer. That was the song that led me down the happiest rabbit hole I ever fell down, and who knows what my music taste, or even my life, would be like without it. I've made a lot of friends through K-Pop and it's helped me discover so many of my favorite songs and artists. While K-Pop has brought so many fans joy, the idols themselves go through more than any of us could ever imagine, and it's a shame that someone has to die for people to start caring. SHINee's Jonghyun was pronounced dead today, and it's believed to be suicide. It's heartbreaking to think that he was suffering so much and nobody knew until it was too late. I want to let anybody who may be reading to know that even if I don't regularly speak to you, if you want someone to talk through any problems you may have, you can come to me. I'll be here. Having someone who cares really can mean the difference between someone being here tomorrow or not, and I hope people remember that. As for Jonghyun and the members of SHINee, I may not have been a "stan", but you have made an impact on my and so many other peoples' lives, and we'll eternally be grateful. Rest in peace, Jonghyun, this spotlight's for you.

Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Okay, today is #5-#1, and I think it will be the most exciting one! #5 will be coming after this post, it's a non-2017 song that...actualy breaks one of the rules I have for this countdown, but the song felt too important NOT to include.
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 #5: DEAN - Pour Up (feat. Zico) I am going to be completely honest here…I’d heard this song before my 2017 year end time frame started. At that time, though, I wasn’t much a fan of it. Typically, I don’t let songs chart if I heard them and didn’t care for them in the year I first heard it, then went on to like it later, but this song felt way too important NOT to put on my list. When I finally did like this song, it hit me like a truck. DEAN absolutely killed this track and this chorus has to be one of the best I’ve ever heard. (It was low-key an inspiration for a song I wrote myself which I love to this day!) Unfortunately, I’ve not heard anything by DEAN that comes close to this, but hey…he at least has this and that’s more than many can say! This is DEAN’s and Zico’s only appearances on the countdown.“시간이 지날수록 풀리는 두 눈이 어느새인가 내 귓가엔 네 목소리” “The more time passes, the more unfocused my eyes get. Suddenly, your voice is in my ears…” Awards: R&B SOTY, Collab SOTY -- Up next is...a K-Pop boy group! I know, those never appeared on the countdown until now. Shocking!
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 #4: B.I.G - Hello Hello B.I.G were a group that I really wanted to like ever since their debut, but they never gave me anything I cared for, but their revival changed ALL that. 2017 was the year for underrated BG’s to come out with QUALITY and B.I.G led that pack for me. This was the second song they released this year, and they had a huge act to follow with 1.2.3, but damn if they didn’t! Two amazing songs that will be following me into 2018, that’s for sure! B.I.G will appear again on the countdown.“너의 은밀해진 눈빛이 날 또 홀리니 나의 감각이 눈을 떠“ “Your secretive looks, they bewitch me, my senses open its eyes…”
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Just now, ultraviolet tears said: what is this bop and HOW have i never heard it wtf time to spend my coins real quick Okay get your life a bit! Pour Up is amazing! -- Up next is...actually shocking, a girl group! The last one that will appear on the countdown.
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Just now, ultraviolet tears said: serving taste sis, i'm here for this party. but what nationality is the group DEAN is a soloist, but he's Korean. (At least I'm pretty sure he is!) if you're into R&B you may get some enjoyment out of his music. what2do is another good track by him.
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 #3: ChoColat - Black Tinkerbell So while I only had a few songs that I liked from girl groups this year, this song from 2013 hit me so damn hard this year. I actually discovered it by watching a video about K-Pop groups that disbanded and the last song they released, so it’s under slightly unfortunate circumstances, but damn if this song doesn’t POP off. I love electropop so much and this song is an electropop MASTERPIECE. The fairy tale theme only adds to my love for this song, and of course, this chorus SNAPS too. A good chorus is the easiest way to win me over, basically! This is ChoColat’s only appearance on the countdown.“Black Tinkerbell, 너 때문에 목이 메인 내 사랑을 봐 주세요 my Peter Pan” “Black Tinkerbell, look at my choked up love because of you, my Peter Pan“
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Alright, so I know nobody is keeping track, but there are TWO artists who have another entry on the chart (B.I.G, Kesha) and there's two spots left. Who will walk away with the #1? Find out...next!
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 The time has come...my #1 will be revealed! It's Kesha, who has had 6 other entries up to this point (Learn To Let Go, Spaceship, Rainbow, Hunt You Down, Praying, Woman) vs. B.I.G, who only has 1 entry so far (Hello Hello). Who will be the one to claim my #1 song of the year...? Spoiler #2: Kesha - Boots In the biggest surprise in the whole countdown, Kesha ISN’T #1, despite me gushing over her all countdown. This song makes me want to Coyote Ugly line dance on a bar counter every time and I just want to scream the non-chorus with her. Only Kesha could make vocal runs her whole chorus and have it be the best English release in 2017! Ahh my fucking fave. As much as I love this song, there is another song I liked just ever so slightly more… This is Kesha’s last appearance on the countdown.“I’m walking on air, kicking my blues. Everything stops when I’m with you…” Awards: English SOTY, Female SOTY, Non-single SOTY #1: B.I.G - 1.2.3 WHAT A DAMN BOP. This song took me for surprise, and I was hooked from the first listen, yet it also only got better every time? LITERALLY HOW. Everything about this is absolutely perfect. The killer chorus, the glimmering production, the quirky video, hell even the rap bridge is GORGEOUS. I never thought I’d call a rap bridge GORGEOUS but here we are. It’s just a shame that they came back as 4 members for this one. I’d hate to be the one left out of the song where your career peaked. This song was, without a doubt, my #1 for a majority of the year, and it was everyone else racing for second. I genuinely can’t say enough good things about this song, and if you haven’t heard it, DO IT. Make this the track you listen to if nothing else. THIS SONG WAS MY 2017. Obviously, this is B.I.G’s last appearance on the countdown.“너 없는 1분1초가 꿈처럼 허전해” “Each minute and second without you feels empty like a dream…“ Awards: SOTY, K-SOTY, BG SOTY, Single SOTY, Pop SOTY
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Okay, the FINAL high scores are coming, followed by the last Dancefloor Spotlight, then my thread will officially conclude. ♥ Thank you for everyone who commented and was supportive, it means a lot.

Halsey - 100 Kesha is officially my artist of the year! Congratulations to her for releasing such an amazing album. What's more interesting is B.I.G, who went from not being on this chart to debuting at 2nd on the final day! That's quite impressive if I do say so myself! The other artists to debut today, ChoColat, DEAN, and Zico, are 11th and 12th (tied), respectively, so it goes to show that even a strong peak won't do much if you only have the one song. Obviously, everyone else shifted down to make room the new entries and they're not noteworthy. 53 places on my year end, not including ties...not bad for only 75 songs! It was one of the better years for me musically, and 2018 may only continue the trend! Up next is the Dancefloor Spotlight, and this final one will be my all-time favorite song. Feel free to judge all you want idc idc!
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 My final Dancefloor Spotlight of the countdown, and I see no better pick to use than my favorite song of all time. Music, while usually getting some mental reaction out of me, rarely does PHYSICAL things to me, but that's exactly what this song did. I still remember the first time I heard it so clearly. I decided to give it a listen because ATRL was hyping it up, and I was ready to drag. I was slightly annoyed at the time, so I was feeling cynical. I hit play on the song and...when I tell you I couldn't stop smiling, I mean it. The song was FORCING me to be happy. I was even laughing at some points because I wasn't expecting that kind of slayage to be done to me. The song was EASILY my #1 song of 2013, and it eventually became my all-time favorite song, dethroning even Kesha, who is my all-time favorite artist. If you've ever visited my profile on here or on Twitter, you may know what this is already, but if not...here it is. I welcome Selena Gomez to the floor, the spotlight's all yours!
Hug Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Final thank you to everyone who supported my best of and got it off of the first page. <3 I finally finished a year end thanks to y'all tbgrfds
