So we just gon pretend like Republican isn't gonna be in your top 5? 19 minutes ago, Eeveelution said: Oh right.yeah. It's fitting that Ms. Crutchfield is next to Witness cause she's kinda the Katy of indie rock: weak vocals, no originality, bad performer, basic music... Actually, Katy sweetie im so sorry cause Waxahatchee ain't never making a Bon Appetit level song. Leave them both alone they're cute girls (you didn't lie with the second sentence though) 2 minutes ago, Vxspertine said: People are doing too much on Waxahatchee, gave her a listen and she was cute Silver and A Little More are the highlights for me Silver and Never Been Wrong are my faves I think. theblackestday Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 K let's get to it ladies... 40. FOUR TET New Energy MICROHOUSE Quote A lovely, soothing and meditative electronic record. The sound is very focused and minimalist, while not being one-dimensional, resulting in a beautifully composed body of work. It actually reminds me of Vespertine at times.
theblackestday Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 39. KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD Flying Microtonal Banana PSYCHEDELIC ROCK Quote So King Gizzard decided to release 5 albums this year, because why not. This album is the first, and it was recorded in quarter tone tuning. The concept behind this album, as its subtitle suggests, is the band's exploration into microtonal tuning. By definition, microtones are intervals smaller than a semitone, and it's most commonly used in middle eastern music, a clear influence on the sound of the album. So clearly, this is a quite ambitious and imaginative record, and it works. It manages to be strange and accessible at the same time. It's trance-inducing psychedelia, filled with catchy songwriting and rich instrumentation that is refreshing and groovy.
theblackestday Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 38. HYPERTEXT SuperSystem Vibe ELECTRONIC / PROG-POP Quote Yet another great album from them! It's dreamy and melodic with layers of acoustic instruments, vocal harmonies and industrial-tinged music; forming a new sound for the band and once again having an album that showcases a departure from it predecessor, all while restraining their distinctive signature and of course, the quality of the music. faves: Flashbacks, Icons, This Will Soon Be Overleast faves: Crime

theblackestday Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 36. SEVDALIZA ISON TRIP HOP / AVANT-POP Quote I was sooo shook when I discovered this. The production is spectacular and exactly the kind that I **** with most. But clearly, this album is flawed in many aspects (e.g. the unjustified length, the lack of memorable/strong hooks, no notable tempo changes), yet, the pros outweigh the flaws, so it remains a great debut. You get a bit of Portishead, FKA twigs and Lana Del Rey, but still in Sevdaliza's own unique way. It's dark and textured, it sets out a specific mood and succeeds in it, and it showcases Sevdaliza's huge potential and obvious talent. The Suspended Kid remains her best project tho. faves: Human, Hubris, Marilyn Monroeleast faves: Loves Way, When I Reside
