As my fellow edgy @Vxspertine said, this album is pretty generic, but it's so good it makes it okay. It's filled with infectious hooks, hard hitting beats and gritty guitar work, but most importantly, them VOCALS, clearly one of the band's/album's best feats. It's kinda inconsistent, there's plenty of room for improvement and I don't stan for it as much as I did initially, but it mostly still knocks.

Backwater

ELECTRONICA / ALT R&B

Quote

A genre-fusing debut, combining 90s UK garage, soulful R&B and more. The album feels quite grayscale but it works. It's very chill and dreamy but it's also something you'd bop to at the dancefloor.

least faves: By Your Side, Too Fast, Nylon

 

28. IGLOOGHOST

Neō Wax Bloom

WONKY / UK BASS

Chinese Nü Yr was one of my favorite releases of 2015 and this album doesn't really showcase any departure, but it's still so damn impressive. The artwork is a good representation of the music. It's a complex and hyperactive album with an extreme dedication to detail and texture. It has its flaws, but nonetheless, it's one of the best electronic albums of the year.

When I came into this album, I wasn't expecting it to be as electronic-leaning as it is (while remaining an R&B/Soul record at its core). So that snatched me. With that being said, it's inconsistent, and I wish the album went further in the direction of the songs listed as my faves, and less in that of my least faves.

least faves: Incomplete Kisses, Timmy's Prayer, Like the Piano, Take Me Inside, What Shouldn't I Be?

The Killo album didn't work for me I think I turned it off halfway through 

Iglootalent deserved better but I agree that Björk Grid and Teal Yomi are the worst tracks on it. Also this has me SHAKING

 

I heard a lot about World Eater but didn't get to it yet

And Process  Your favs are on point but Timmy's Prayer deserved better

Can't think of any other band that has "thieves" in their name and there isn't any giant/wolves band here

His music is def not for everyone but how could one think it's bland?

OMGGG this is literally everything I ever wanted and fantasied about  we're truly SHAKING. Can't wait

Timmy's Prayer is cute, but the best part about it is that it's co-written by Kanye

Probably Downfall or Virtue? since they're the most known songs from the album

IGLOOGHOST is definitely the best of this bunch. Neo Wax Bloom was amazing and one of my faves of the year, it’s just so all over the place but deliberate at the same time. Also that tweet has me shook  I can’t wait to see what he does next.

I feel like I'd rank it higher if I hadn't already known his whole shtick prior to the album cause he didn't bring out anything actually new but it's still so good so he gets a pass. & Same!
