Lucas32 Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Chesea Wolfe is not getting nearly enough love a fantastic record. Also love the 1-2 punch of Slowdive and Cherry Glazerr.
Playa Playa Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Slowdive slowly revealed itself to me too but I'm still not fully into it. Hiss Spun and Relatives in Descent were good listens but I forgot to go back
Zay Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I've listened to 20 - 16 at least once.. And Apocalipstick was the highlight for me
World Eater Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Still haven't listened to Hiss Spun I love everything else tho But mess @ you calling Told You I'd Be Reading the Bible and Don’t Go to Church your least fav songs
Uncatena Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Slowdive haven't listened to anything else, I don't particularly like punk and hard rock stuff, should I still check out Chelsea Wolfe and Protomartyr?

Cherry Glazerr is my fave from this bunch. Also really liked the Slowdive album too. Chelsea and Protomartyr didn't really have any staying power for me though Another note: How am I just seeing this?!?! Slowdive’s return nearly even lives up to their opuses and it could’ve been legacy-tarnishing but it wasn’t, it’s really great Rocket is such a lovely folk / alt-country album that’s moving and also still interesting musically to listen to only 1 of these albums did not make my list Accurate post Perched to see which 22 hours ago, Tom Vercetti said: Finally some Chelsea Wolfe love. theblackestday Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) ok **** it I'll just post it 15. LANA DEL REY Lust for Life ART POP Quote THEBLACKESTDAY SHUNS LANA IN YEAR END TOP 50 LISTS DESPITE 9/10 REVIEW EARLIER IN YEAR faves: Get Free, Summer Bummer, Cherry, Heroin, Change least faves: Lust for Life, In My Feelings, Love, Coachella, Tomorrow Never Came 14. TYLER, THE CREATOR Flower Boy HIP HOP Quote Maybe Lana won the #1 BB200 spot but Mr. The Creator won the theblackestday faves: I Ain't Got Time, Boredom, See You Again, Who Dat Boy, 911 / Mr. Lonely, November least faves: Droppin' Seeds 13. LCD SOUNDSYSTEM American Dream DANCE-PUNK Quote This was an obvious AOTY material since my first listen. Every song here stands strong both by itself and in the context of the album, with each having that epic feel. It's masterfully produced and mindblowingly good. The Talking Heads influence is huge in this album, but they pull it off. faves: I Used To, Other Voices, How Do You Sleep, Change Yr Mindleast faves: Call the Police 12. WOLF ALICE Visions of a Life ALTERNATIVE ROCK Quote Wolf Alice were one of my first favorite bands. I was obsessed with My Love Is Cool and it's still one of my favorite albums from recent years. I was obviously very excited for this album, and when it came out, I was kinda disappointed. But this ended up being the biggest grower of the year for me. I became obsessed with it a couple of weeks later and it still has everything I love about them. It effortlessly blend numerous sounds and genres, even moreso than their debut did. It closes it all off with the epic three-part prog-rock album closer, that is truly an experience. I'd say I still prefer their debut, but this is a great sophomore that proves that Wolf Alice are, as they're commonly referred to, the UK's greatest band. faves: Space & Time, Planet Hunter, Visions of a Life, Formidable Cool, Yuk Foo, Sky Musings least faves: Heavenward 11. BIG THIEF Capacity INDIE ROCK / FOLK ROCK Quote The songs on Capacity were written by Adrianne about traumatic experiences, and it's done by fantastic storytelling. The melodies and compositions are incredibly captivating. It's a beautiful, warm and unique record. I go to sleep every night to this album since I discovered it. I really wish I could give it a top 10 placement. faves: Shark Smile, Watering, Mary, Coma, Mythological Beauty, Capacityleast faves: Black Diamonds Edited December 24, 2017 by theblackestday

I don't think of it as a disappointment, but it's a huge downgrade after UV and HM imo. It's too long, inconsistent and incohesive and it also didn't age well very for me (I haven't listened to it since its release month), so yeah
