ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 12, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 Did you hear Fischerspooner's collab with Caroline from Chairlift? Disapointing!!
SLIME Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Summer Bummer is the peak of Carti's adlibs which is saying so much think i liked that feist pick too but it all kinda blended together jddkj
Playa Playa Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Bodak Yellow is easily my fave of this batch. Fan of the Lana, Feist and Lizzo picks too. I was I liked Have Fun Tonight more
World Eater Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The Age of Anxiety is really underrated, although my favs are I Bow Down and Waterslides Bodak and Wish I Didn't Miss You
TheWayWeWere Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Mistakes amazing bop! really excited about this girl Summer Bummer is a bop
Tom Vercetti Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I was slightly disappointed in Tove Stryke's single choices this year. Maybe the album will be better, idk. Summer Bummer has turned into a favorite over time due to how infectious it is. Curious Cut Copy & Feist choices.

bluth Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) 80 - 71 80 ALL COMES BACK 2 U RONIKA each song on this album kinda sounds the same by the end, so you can either praise the consistency or fault the lack of variety, but there's no denying that ronika knows her way around a ballsy pop song 79 BOUNTY ABRA abra does what abra does best: dark, atmospheric bedroom pop which drips with paranoia. kinda excited for her to come back with something new tho 78 TEASE RALPH sometimes i get kinda concerned at how u can find really good pop music like, almost anywhere, now. i think holy slae needs to come back and raise the bar. but yah this is good, blissful pop. 77 LIKEY TWICE a part of me thinks this is kinda basic but at the same time it's one of the most infectious things i've heard all year so eye guess u can't really fault a pop song for doing that 76 PLASTIC 100C SAMPHA i guess most people would have other favourites from this but this opener is so dramatic and effectively conveys the heightening tension, suffocation and heat of the lyrics. after playing guest vocalist for so long, it's nice to hear him hold something big down on his own. p.s. there are only live versions on youtube which are nowhere near as good as the studio one 75 LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO TAYLOR SWIFT i probably would have paid this album no mind if it weren't for the fact that i think this song was actually kinda grossly misinterpreted. let's get one thing straight: the chorus is the best part, and by far the most camp thing taylor's done. i wish the lyrics kinda got to the point a bit more but, then again, the whole of reputation was a lyrical hodge-podge 74 NOT HUMAN IONNALEE i wasn't the biggest fan at first and it doesn't really punch as much as iamamiwhoami's best stuff but the chorus is actually pretty great and it's kept me somewhat excited for her album 73 CUT TO THE FEELING CARLY RAE JEPSEN this is good but it would be kinda nice to hear something other than emotion rejects kthx carly rae. but bonus points for that madonna homage 72 HOT THOUGHTS SPOON i think in a year which, at points, kinda felt boring musically, spoon were a much-needed dosage of frivolity, and the semi-jazzy title track here is an obvious standout from their album 71 DOLLAR BILLS SYD syd doesn't necessarily give wig-snatching, big moments but she knows her voice/sound so well so p much all of her songs are gna sound great, but this is probably one of the boppier moments on fin Spoiler Edited December 12, 2017 by bluth
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 12, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 YASSSS BOUNTY!!! I thought I was the only one who knew of its existence. Ronika was boring to me. I only like one of her songs. Tease is such a great early 90s throwback. Likey is Twice's best song, I'm glad most people are recognizing this. Don't care for Sampha's voice so I didn't bother. I'm intrigued now because so many people like him, but then I just listened to that piano song and it was NOT THE T. Not Human is excellent. Truly excellent. Glad you came around to this new project. CTTF is amazing, but let's get a new sound from Carly. Hot Thoughts is good, Spoon are definitely one of the most consistent lead single givers in indie rock. LWYMMD's chorus is one of the best musical moments of her career. Actually, the best besides the pre chorus on Enchanted.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Cut To The Feeling's chorus carries the song pretty hard. Digging the Sampha + Spoon choices. Bounty is like a Princess B-Side.
Playa Playa Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) You perfectly described how good Plastic 100c is And yeah I never got the love for CTTF. It's a cute reject from 2015's AOTY but I agree we need something new!! Edited December 12, 2017 by Playa Playa

World Eater Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 My fav update so far I'm in the minority who thought that LWYMMD was a great lead so I'm obviously there with you. I feel like I need to revisit Hot Thots again but the title track was really nice. Plastic 100°C and CTTF were
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 12, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 Wait you put her It Takes Two cover on your list? She kinda does do a good job on it ngl.
Eeveelution Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Quote this is good but it would be kinda nice to hear something other than emotion rejects kthx carly rae. !! I feel like this wouldn't have received nearly as much acclaim if it wasn't by Carly Rae. I've kinda accepted that LWYMMD is kinda.... good? Or at least catchy. Summer Bummer is an interesting LFL pick. I paid Spoon dust this year but their single was good. I Wish I Didn't Miss You is one of the best on Pleasure, I agree. And I didn't know Abra released anything, let me listen.
smholiv Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 wasn't expecting likey but i am... happy don't really remember the taylor song or how it goes, same with the carly one if i'm honest. but i think i liked that sampha song and will probably have to check his album
Pedro Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 LWYMD is pure perfection. Not a big fan of TS but that song kills me
Vilppu Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I wish Carly would serve something new but CTTF kills me still, it's better than a fair part of the standard album for me too. Plastic 100C was my Sampha fave for a while and while it switched to a much more basic choice, it still remained an amazing song, and Likey is great, Twice impressed me a lot this year. Hated LWYMMD since the beginning though, everything about it just drives me insane.
ATRL Moderator Oxygen Posted December 12, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 LIKEY, Look and Cut To The Feeling
Red Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 "HOT THOUGHTS", WHEEEEEE! Well, if nothing else, I won't be the only person talking about how much I love that song this year. "Cut to the Feeling" is also nice.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 LWYMMD it's still messy hot bop Ionna not my favorite from her (samaritan and gone >>>), but still nice, very excited about album CTTF pop perfection itself
Lazuli Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Quote i think this song was actually kinda grossly misinterpreted. let's get one thing straight: the chorus is the best part, and by far the most camp thing taylor's done Someone's finally said it! Cut to the Feeling and Hot Thoughts
SLIME Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Woo another song from my upper ranks skree Abra's loosies this year were all nice but nothing brazy. And I wanna be mad at CTTF bc no bridge but hard to deny the chorus. 72-71 a punch
