I low-key always thought Babe was really lackluster but assumed everyone was right and I was not but now the genuinely good song Lip & Hip rendered that one obsolete.

bluth Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) 101 - 91 101 BON APPETIT KATY PERRY a messy ass song to begin a messy ass list for this messy ass year. it's easy to forget that, in between ****ed up elections, embarrassing presidential twitter rants and the looming threat of nuclear annihilation that we received 365 days worth of music to digest, but katy perry provided the escapism we so crave when it seems like the outside world is becoming more and more dystopian. this hot garbage mess of a song manages to be under-baked and over-cooked at the same time, much like the era that surrounded it, which was inexplicably cut as short as katy's boyish hair, but it transports us to a place where the biggest, most ahh'able mess conceivable is a terrible album rollout. this song doesn't finish last; it begins this list triumphantly. i hope ppl enjoy the top 100 songs of 2017 once they're fresh out the oven, but, for now, let's tuck into the entree - and for the rest i say: bon appetit! 100 SHETHER REMY MA the funniest thing about this song is that it's not even trying to be a diss-track, it's a ****ing thesis of well-organised, time-stamped, fully-referenced receipts and it is a SCREAM. plus, starting it all out with "you wore a pink diamond chicken wing chain... are you DUMB?" is such a cackle. 99 STROBELITE GORILLAZ the only thing i remember from this boring playlist. a bop! 98 SUNSHINE TYPE TURNOVER come thru with that summery real estate realness hunties 97 TUTTIFRUTTI PHOENIX another bop 96 NOSTALGIA NAO i like how much more 80's inspired this sounds in comparison to nao's other work and now i kinda wanna hear more 95 CREW GOLDLINK goldlink is halfway between being slept on and not, as well as being halfway between deservedly being slept on and undeservedly being slept on. there's potential, but this is nice 94 COCKY SHEA COULEE while azealia remains unstannable, it's nice to know that other people can fill the void. sorta. anyway, it kinda shows a little self-awareness which is cool, so hopefully now that shea knows you think she's cocky she'll add another skill to her lip-syncing repertoire other than twirling 93 ME4U DANNY L HARLE cute 92 REAL TIME JACQUES GREENE bop 91 ACTING ARIEL PINK FT.
