#9 Sampha - Incomplete Kisses

Process - Sampha album.jpg

My favorite off Process. It's sonically quite calm like the other tracks on Process, but it's a lot more snappy, ultimately making it a standout track. A romantic song, about perhaps one of the two not giving it its all. Incomplete Kisses is filled with beautiful lyrics and great production.

#8 Kelela - LMK

Kelela LMK.jpg

I kind of slept on Kelela in the songs countdown (mostly forgot to put some tracks on it, and didn't want to change it afterwards nnn). LMK was not forgotten, and for obvious reasons. While Take Me Apart as a whole is great, LMK was an obvious standout. It's the most bopworthy song on the album. A sensual and sexual electro-R&B track that truly felt different than the rest of Take Me Apart.

#7 Kendrick Lamar - DNA.

Damn. Kendrick Lamar.jpg

My favorite song off DAMN. The song follows up BLOOD., and it feels like the perfect follow-up. Not only does it build on the things introduced in Blood, but it also continues the 'story'. DNA shows an incredible flow by Kendrick, a great beat, and incredible lyrics about Kendricks heritage. DNA shows exactly why Kendrick is currently without the doubt the best rapper in the game.

#6 St. Vincent - Los Ageless

St Vincent - Masseduction.png

A complete different song than New York, in many ways. Los Ageless is more wild, limitless and explosive. Los Ageless is a take on Hollywoods obsession to stay young, but if the chorus is about the city LA, or a certain someone, is not exactly clear. Either way, a fantastic track that is helped by the guitar in it.

#5 Loreen - Fire Blue

Loreen - Ride Cover.jpg

Compelling, beautiful, and hypnotising. Fire Blue is one of the most beautiful tracks Loreen has ever done, but it is perhaps helped mostly by Loreen sounding calm, and taking her time. Ride, 'rides' alot faster in other tracks, making Fire Blue an instant standout. Its simplicity really helps this track, along with one of Loreens best vocal performances in her career.

#4 Loreen - Hate The Way I Love You

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor hate the way i love you loreen atrl

I think this is the longest track of Loreens discography. Spanning almost 7 minutes long, Hate The Way I Love You truly feels like a 'ride'. It starts incredibly calm and quiet, only for it to slowly build up in Loreen style. Scandipop describes the song as Björk-esque, and honestly, all I can say is that Björk is shook and found dead in a ditch. Hate The Way I Love You keeps the buildup going throughout the entire song, ultimately making it one of the most emotional songs of the year. Hate The Way I Love You is incredible from start to finish, and a discography highlight. Helped by string instruments, and the gritty sound that the rest of the album has, this song fits right in on the album, but manages to standout with ease. It's absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the listen.

#3 St. Vincent - Pills

https%3A%2F%2Fimages.genius.com%2F24490c57b01cc94ac32888a2c28e6588.1000x1000x1.jpg

Pills is absolutely crazy, and my favorite of MASSEDUCTION. It begins almost as some kind of christmas song, but the lyrics definitely rihmind us, that this is not a christmas song. I just read on Genius that Cara Delesomething sings the chorus? Can't believe Annie is such a legend that she can even make Cara sound so much fun. Pills is crazy, fun, serious, emotional and a complete ride, that does not care about the rules of a good pop song, making this pop-rock song, not so pop-rocky.

#2 Tyler, The Creator feat. Kali Uchis - See You Again

Scum Fuck Flower Boy cover.jpg

My favorite on Flower Boy, finally gives us the See You Again we deserve. It's a lovely song and best shows the growth of Tyler. The real star of the show here is Kali Uchis, who sounds ****ing incredible. A song with a big amount of charm, that never feels one-note and has a ton of replay-value. It's absolutely beautiful, and I never knew Tyler was able to create songs this beautiful, while still rihmaining with his artistry.

#1 Loreen - Jupiter Drive

Loreen - Ride Cover.jpg

A song that was already performed almost 2 years ago. Didn't really like it that much back then and didn't give it a lot of attention. It was too loud, and it felt like its full potential wasn't reached yet. Luckily Jupiter Drive was included on Ride, and this one blew me away. It's an incredible song that rihminds me of Currents, but is a lot darker. It's an absolute ride that is the obvious standout on the album, and for good reasons too. It's sexy, hot, and it feels like Loreen is truly devoted to her lover. A love song to end perhaps, all love songs. Jupiter Drive shows why Loreen is one of today's most underrated artists, often misunderstood by people (most notably the Swedish public). Jupiter Drive is truly the only song that could've topped my list this year. I'm not sure if people just look at my lists and find songs they like, but if there was ever a song I would recommend on my list, it's this one. Please listen to it. Loreen truly deserves the recognition, and as a stan I couldn't be prouder. JD is just incredible, flawless, compelling, and sounds like pure heaven.

And with that, my Best Of 2017 is finished. Thanks so much to everyone who commented, I really appreciate it, and I hoped you enjoyed my countdown. See you next time! :heart2:

it's quite sad that you hate so much on an artist that isn't even super big or anything. It almost feels like you're screaming at a wall at this point. I know it's hard though, seeing as Loreen became one of the most acclaimed ESC artists in recent times AND has one of the most iconic winning song. You know, a winning song, something which Italy was predicted to get this year.. but ultimately it didn't end up top 5 :fan: quite a kii!

Nothing wrong with Euphoria, but the music she's been putting out lately has been alienating a lot of people from her already small fan base and it's boring and unlistenable to the point that I'm surprised there are people sticking around. Also, she's overrated af in the Eurovision community only because she had the most successfully commercial winning song since Waterloo--but that's the last the geepee has heard of her.
