Navyofbadgals Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 Best Songs of 2017: #30-21 #30 St. Vincent - Smoking Section An incredible album closer. I really fell more in love with this, the more I played it. #29 Lana Del Rey feat. A$AP Rocky & Playboi Carti - Summer Bummer My favorite Lana song this year, is perhaps a questionable choice? SB didn't receive Coachella level hate, but it certainly wasn't welcomed by everyone with open arms. But SB is amazing from start to finish. Summer is usually the time of fun, uplifting, and carefree songs, but this one captured an underlying doom and at the same time it made it a bop too. It sounds like the worst summer ever, but you're so here for it. #28 Miguel - Banana Clip A bop that also has a political undertone to it. whew #27 Lorde - Supercut One of the best cuts of Melodrama, without a doubt. Supercut is an incredible pop song for starters, but also beautifully depicts Lorde thinking about her past relationship(s), and realizing that, she isn't in this relationship anymore. It's captured amazingly. An emotional and overwhelming pop song done extremely well. #26 Rina Sawayama - Alterlife We sure love the best song of her EP huh. The instrumental totally makes thist track bomb af. #25 The XX - Lips My favorite track off The XX's I See You. From the unique intro, to the incredible vocal performances. Lips is the best representation of I See You, it's beautiful, open, honest, and just slightly different than their other material. #24 Tyler, The Creator - I Ain't Got Time This self-written and self-produced anthem is perhaps most known for the line ''I've been kissing white boys since 2004..''. But the whole track is incredible. He doesn't have time for the people only here for his success. I Ain't Got Time feels like an incredible up-beat, hard-hitting self-portrait. #23 Loreen - I Go Ego Talent, once again. #22 Tove Lo - Disco **** From a deadpan delivery of Tove, to a dancey, disco influenced instrumental. Disco **** feels like the perfect end rihsult of Tove's songs that are about drugs and sex. Disco **** is extremely addictive and is, my favorite Tove Lo track of the year. #21 Kendrick Lamar - HUMBLE. From an incredible video, to of course, an incredible song. Humble was the best way to start the DAMN. era. I was amazed to see it get so much (well-deserved) success. And so happy that this hit #1 of course. I overplayed this one a bit, so it has lost that magic, but HUMBLE. is still amazing.

potent Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Summer Bummer, Supercut and Humble the best this set I liked On Hold from The xx but after that I thought they were getting kind of basic and repetitive idk.
theblackestday Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Humble, I Ain't Got Time, Summer Bummer Possibly the hip-hop trinity of 2017 and that's that on that. Smoking Section is the second best sing on Mass
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted January 4, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted January 4, 2018 OH yes babe great set. Smoking section is her second best closer and humble and disco fits and SUPERCUT

World Eater Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 What a set Yes @ Lips (!), Alterlife and Supercut aka the best sings from each release I Ain't Got Time is gewd but I'd say it's the weakest single from Flower Boy
Tom Vercetti Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Probably my favorite set so far. A lot of gr8 tracks
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted January 4, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted January 4, 2018 Supercut + Disco Tatas
Playa Playa Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Deadpan delivery on Disco **** is one of the best musical moments of 2017 idc Supercut, hit Banana Clip, hit Alterlife, hit
Pedro Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Love Lorde's and Lana's song but not Loreen's. Her album was not that good IMO.
Navyofbadgals Posted January 5, 2018 Author Posted January 5, 2018 Best Songs of 2017: #20-11 #20 Susanne Sundfør feat. John Grant - Mountaineers Whew we sure love a stunning song, no? From the calm, laid-back intro, to a beautiful and compelling climax, around the 3 minute mark. It's a beautiful song. #19 Loreen - Love Me America Not a tragedy of the song, but it feels like a song about tragedy. With beautiful instrumentals, and great vocal delivery by ms. Loreen, Love Me America hits hard. Loreen would do anything for a certain person, a sight that is beautiful, but sad to witness. #18 St. Vincent - New York When I first saw the St. Vincent thread being bumped on ATRL, this was the first thing I listened to. I wasn't as impressed with this one at the time, as I was with the other MASSEDUCTION songs that were released pre-album release. But New York is a grower, and it is a beautiful song. New York is sweet, simple, and feels like a nice tribute to the city, despite it being such a slow song. NY stands out for all the right reasons #17 Alma - Requiem We truly love the best song of ESC of this year. I wonder if anyone will top it next year. Requiem exceeds the average ESC song with ease. It's beautiful, fun, unique, and is one of the best representations a country can give. Not too snobby, but still showing the beauty and the love of the country, without it being your average love song, too. Requiem is French Pop at its finest and the fact that this landed outside of the top 10 in the finale, is one of 2017's greatest fails in music. Absolutely excellent. #16 Susanne Sundfør - Undercover The best song of her album. It captures the beauty and calmness of Mountaineers sonically, but this one sticks even more and is much more captivating from start to finish. There is still a nice build-up, just like Mountaineers, but this one also feels much more rewarding. A sad song, beautifully captured. #15 St. Vincent - Masseduction A smart song throughout. Who is the seducer, and who gets seduced? Masseduction is the best choice as album title as well. It manages to capture the beauty of some of the ballads on the album, but as a whole is a techno pop-rock masterpiece, with Annie as our favorite sexy robot singer. It also helps that this is a bop n. #14 Tyler, The Creator feat. A$AP Rocky - Who Dat Boy A collab that goes off. Who Dat Boy feels like the perfect rihsult of Tylers crazy side. Who Dat Boy goes weird, has an interesting production, and has weird lyrics throughout. Who Dat Boy #13 Kesha - Praying Praying felt very rewarding to witness. It's the comeback single that Kesha so desperately deserved, but I didn't ever expect her to come through with such an amazing song. Praying is beautiful, and is one of the best representations of 2017, both musically, but also socially. While it isn't written for the me-too movement, the song still shows Keshas incredible strength of overcoming her abuser Dr. Luke, ultimately resulting in one of the most beautiful empowering anthems of the year. #12 Miguel feat. Kali Uchis - Caramelo Duro The fact that this wasn't released as a single (yet) ****s with my mind. Caramelo Duro is too good to go unnoticed. It's funky, it's fun and it's an absolute bop. Caramelo Duro perhaps feels like the best representation of heritage Miguel could give. With parents of both Mexican and African-American descent, Caramelo Duro feels like an ode to Miguels heritage. Perhaps not to its parents (considering the context of the song), but nevertheless amazing. A clear standout on War & Leisure. #11 Dua Lipa - New Rules I can still rihmember the day I first heard the snippet of this, and I thought, oh boi this don't sound good. The full song felt different and has quickly become the 'RAWM' of this year (but much better, sue me). New Rules shows exactly why Dua is one of the best new contributors to pop. New Rules is carefree pop, that isn't mindless radio fodder. It's extremely enjoyable, and it felt extremely rewarding to see this smash the way it did. New Rules is a breakup-anthem that we all deserve. A fun track and a more than solid pop song. And with that, all is revealed BUT the top 10! Tomorrow I'll be revealing my favorite videos, recurrent albums/songs, favorite movies and favorite TV series. Won't be as long as it sounds like here, because I've been kinda lacking in watching movies and tv series. And I will finish my countdown this sunday as I'll reveal the top 10.
