Bubble Tea Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 HEW expected Harry to actually have a decent solo song? Well, I guess he is the most talented out of the lot. It's a nice song - surprising too.
Mark Rih Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) TOP 50 SINGLES #10 / #1 #10 Lana Del Rey / Lust For Life (feat. Weeknd) Finally a great collab from these 2 together. Love the dreamy atmosphere in this, the mix of their voice was magical. With some push it could've been a hit. #9 DJ Khaled / Wild Thougts (feat. Rihanna and Bryson Tiller) As a good Navy, Rih had to have at least one song in my top 10. WT is my fave feature of hers this year; Khaled is useless since he took Maria Maria instrumental adding basically nothing, but Rihanna and also Bryson did great and gave a new life to the song. #8 Calvin Harris / Rollin (feat. Khalid & Future) I will be short, they all snapped. Calvin isn't done, another song is coming up. #7 Dua Lipa / New Rules It's easy to understand why New Rules was the biggest female solo hit of the year. Infectious tropical/EDM beat, fun and original lyrics and cool video: that's how you make a great pop song in 2017. #6 Lil Uzi Vert / XO TOUR Llif3 The biggest grower of the year for me. It went from 'ew what is this' to 'wait this isn't bad' to 'ok I'm in love with this'. As you probably understood I'm a big fan of melancholic catchy tracks so yeah it's not surprising to find this in my top 10. #5 SZA / The Weekend The song that made me fall in love with her, even if it's not relatable to me I like how she described this 'complicated' relationship from her point of view. Calvin's remix is also good, I listen to it when I want to hear this but I'm also in a more boppy mood (if u know what I mean), I hope they will collab again in the future. The video is... something, Solange is cancelled. #4 French Montana / Unforgettable (feat. Swae Lee) Summer anthem, I loved to hear this in every club during the hot season. Lee owned this, to think that officially he's only a feature on this is a bit... strange. Btw my sister and some of my friends who don't know Swae still think that The Weeknd is the singer here lol. #3 Katy Perry / Chained To The Rhythm (feat. Skip Marley) Pure pop ear-candy. I didn't like Witness but I never hid my love for its lead single. Max did great with the production and I'm always here for some good disco vibes, the chorus is probably the catchiest of 2017 for me; the meaning behind the song is cute and the video is even better. I'm not suprised it was a good sized hit, especially here in Europe. If only the rest of Witness was this good... #2 Drake / Passionfruit Passionfruit is one of the peaks of mellow-laid back Drake for me, aka my favourite Drake. His singing voice + that production, what a combo! This song always puts me in such a good relaxed but also melancholic (I'm so repetitive nn) mood, I just love that. It deserved a video but yeah I have lost my hopes with him. #1 Calvin Harris / Slide (feat. Frank Ocean and Migos) Ahhh. Where do I even start with this holy masterpiece? I'm literally in love with everything about this song, at the beginning I thought the pitched voice was annoying but then I got over it and I started to enjoy even that. This song shows in the best possible way what Calvin did with Funk Wav Bounces: the song is funky and urban-friendly but you can still hear that it's a Calvin Harris song, his classic input is still there, the way he came thru with the production in the last chorus never fails to amaze me. The feature choice was also great, Migos especially delivered their best verse imo. I'm only pressed he didn't release a video for this, it deserved to be much bigger. My most played song this year by really far, it still has to leave my daily playlist... when I started doing my year end lists, Slide being my #1 single was the only thing I was sure about. Full list: #1 Calvin Harris / Slide (feat. Frank Ocean & Migos) #2 Drake / Passionfruit #3 Katy Perry / Chained To The Rhythm #4 French Montana / Unforgettable (feat. Swae Lee) #5 SZA / The Weekend #6 Lil Uzi Vert / XO TOUR Llif3 #7 Dua Lipa / New Rules #8 Calvin Harris / Rollin (feat. Khalid & Future) #9 DJ Khaled / Wild Thoughts (feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller) #10 Lana Del Rey / Lust For Life (feat. The Weekend) #11 Pia Mia / We Should Be Together #12 Selena Gomez / Fetish (feat. Gucci Mane) #13 Kendrick Lamar / Humble #14 Astrid S / Such A Boy #15 Danny Ocean / Me Rehuso #16 Khalid / Location #17 Clean Bandit & Zara Larsson / Symphony #18 Harry Styles / Sign Of The Times #19 Rita Ora / Anywhere #20 G-Eazy / No Limit (feat. Cardi B & A$AP Rocky) #21 Bruno Mars / That's What I Like #22 Miley Cyrus / Malibu #23 Lauv / Easy Love #24 Calvin Harris / Feels (feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean) #25 Kelela / LMK #26 Harry Styles / Two Ghosts #27 Charlie Puth / Attention #28 Post Malone / rockstar (feat. 21 Savage) #29 Camila Cabello / Crying In The Club #30 The Chainsmokers / Young #31 Sabrina Claudio / Belong To You #32 DJ Snake / Broken Summer (feat. Max Frost) #33 Lil Uzi Vert / The Way Life Goes (feat. Oh Wonder) #34 Post Malone / Congratulations (feat. Quavo) #35 Halsey / Now Or Never #36 Logic / 1-800-273-8255 (feat. Alessia Cara and Khalid) #37 Katy Perry / Bon Appetit (feat. Migos) #38 Camila Cabello / Havana (feat. Young Thug) #39 Demi Lovato / Sorry Not Sorry #40 Imagine Dragons / Whatever It Takes #41 Tove Lo / Disco **** #42 Rita Ora / Your Song #43 Bad Bunny x Prince Royce x J Balvin / Sensualidad #44 Astrid S / Breathe #45 Kendrick Lamar / Loyalty (feat. Rihanna) #46 Anitta & J Balvin / Downtown #47 Charlie Puth / How Long #48 Selena Gomez x Marshmello / Wolves #49 Sabrina Carpenter / Thumbs #50 Coldplay / Miracles (feat. Big Sean) --- So yeah, this was the last update. Thanks for being supportive of this countdown even if it was a bit shorter this year. Now I will go to the mountains for a few days for the end of the year and then I'll have to focus on studying, January will be a hard month exams wise, pray for me y'all. I will keep up with your countdowns tho, can't wait to see all your #1s! Edited December 28, 2017 by Mark Rih
