TheWayWeWere Posted December 15, 2017 Author Posted December 15, 2017 album #23 - Katy Perry, Witness Quote "A big beautiful brain with a pretty face" I think Katy was involved in one of the best pop albums of this century (TD), but it all went down since than. Prism has some cut bops, but it aged (mostly) just awful and it didn't really click with me. Rise was cute ballad, but not even on par with her others. But she still makes amazingly catchy CTTR and catched my attention once again. Album sounds very promising by snippets, but Idk, something went wrong. And I don't talk about lyrics (it's Katy, what you want from her?). This album just didn't work as whole record. As standouts tracks - yeah, pretty amount of nice bops. But overall - it felt kinda bland and has no energy or something. It's still was pretty good pop album, and it would've been higher, if she not messed up this era and her image so badly.some favorites: Witness, Deja Vu, Power, Dance with the Devil single #23 - Lana Del Rey, Love Quote "It doesn't matter if I'm not enough" I didn't really like this song at first, but there's something magical about it, so I fell in Love.mp3 kinda fast especially after video release album #22 - Sheryl Crow, Be Myself Quote "I'm gonna take a long way back home" I always was intersted in Sheryl's music, but never listened it properly besides Feels Like Home and 100 Miles. This year she caught my attention with lead single, Halfway There, which was actually amazingly good and feels like I'm in 90s again, so I relistened her whole discography, and honestly, Be Myself is her best work since Detours and her 2nd best along with it since 90s. It's absolutely flawless short record, where she finally returns to her signature sound and did it like no one besides her. Still can't believe how underrated this album was.some favorites: Long Way Back, Grow Up, Strangers Again, Heartbeat Away single #22 - Katy Perry, Bon Appétit Quote "Got me spread like a buffet" Welp, not a good day for good sis Katherine I clearly understand why it didn't became a hit and was hated by almost everyone, and it was absolutely horrid single choice. But ****, it's so messy so it's good tbh. I love some corny sexy bops I use only solo version tho
bestfiction Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Glad to see Bon Floppetit appreciation I think video helped this song alot but I don't get the universal hate towards it
Topmaster 2 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 At first I didn't like Bon Appétit but now is a bop
Kim Kardashian Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Witness, Bon Appetit & Love I have not heard a single Sheryl Crow song in my life but i've seen her on quite a few lists today Maybe I should check her out
Remmy Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Bon Appetit is messy (and a bit of a grower), but Witness is even messier Easily her worst album so far, though around half the tracklist is solid-ish. Witness and Power getting shoutouts Love Interesting to see how many people say it had to grow on them, I enjoyed it from play #1. Great era starter and album opener.
Mr.Link Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Love is such a beautiful song. I really liked the LFL era.
Αnt Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 (edited) Love is the perfect lead single and Lana's best video. Edited December 16, 2017 by Αnt
elvenOCEAN Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 So, I kinda agree with what you wrote about "Witness", it did become somewhat tedious pretty quickly. However, I still do not get the "universal" hate for it. As a matter of fact, it's probably among the better albums released this year (which was pretty bad album release-wise). I've enjoyed "Bon Apetite" from the first moment, but it also became old after awhile. :-/ That could be, though, because of me replaying it 50 times in a week or so (that's A LOT for me). "Love" is nice and even nicer with the video. Entire recorrd is actually on pair with "Ultraviolence" (aka the her best one yet ). Finally, "Be Myself" is brilliant! As you wrote, it sounds straight out of the 90s and I love it! To be honest, I started rediscovering (well, this word is a bit an overstatement) her after seeing you play her entire discography. Such a wonderful artist!
TayRianaPH Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 BA get that underrated bop the acclaim it deserves Witness too Ofc,love is a masterpiece
Admiral Bobbery Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Playing catch up! Songs: Love is a really nice song. TMYLM is good. Love Praying Albums: Starboy is good.
World Eater Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Used to hate Bon Apetit but I gotta say it lowkey bops now
Jet Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Bon Appetit and Witness these graphics are slaying me btw
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 16, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 16, 2017 The Witness singles are very good Love is Lana by the numbers, but also quintessential Lana, and also a more happier direction for her so I think it's cute.
