There's no personality, weak melodies, some spots sound like the same song. Is this Jhene Aiko influence? Throwaway R&B, a new genre, fit for the SZAs & now Kehlani's of the world. A song of struggle, this kind of strikes me as Tumblr's answer to Reality Show (Jazmine Sullivan). Stop comparing this to Velvet Rope or A Seat At the Table. The most boring album so far, why is 2017 R&B so disappointing... I used to not mind Ed Sheeran, he had decent songs. But idk what this is lol. It's one of the most obvious attempts at manufacturing a smash album, but it's not even enjoyable. While both Bruno Mars & Ed Sheeran were considered successful "pop boys" of the 10s to have less than decent albums, Bruno delivered a solid body work that holds up and doesn't make my ears bleed. Katy never had good albums, but this is a new low for her. Joanne's ugly stepsister lol. At least that had Beck & Josh Tillman-assisted bops. This doesn't, so. I don't get why this was so bad to me, I enjoyed The White Album but this is one of their worst, if not THE worst. Maybe they can bounce back, maybe not. I'd rather they stop making music altogether. Why was this so acclaimed online? It was poor. Also Jens voice is annoying. Not for me. not Katy, Miley, & Kehlani, 3 of my faves this year
World Eater Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Okay, you've spilled nothing but TEA on your worst of lists (although I enjoyed Jens Lekman's album ). Wish Pleasure and Utopia made it onto the main list tho
clue Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Not SweetSexySavage on the worst of one of my most played 2017 albums
Playa Playa Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Cute HMs as HMs are! Also v excited for what Jae Stephens does next. 24K is so good; Jam City and R&B artists >>>
SLIME Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 That's funny u guys thought Carti was frontloaded, I thought it was the exact same consistency all the way through but maybe people just got tired. He's a legend btw Miguel is my favorite album here, need to listen to Pretty Girls tho. Bank Account is amazing ... and Gucci Gang is like 2-3 tiers under amazing
Changes Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Ah forgot about that Dave East album. The opening track is awesome tho. In my bank account

He's still relatively safe musically, but he has a nice voice & a great ear. The remix with legend Marc Anthony also gave him some plus points with me. WTF? He can barely sing live
Staryu Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I actually liked SZA, Kehlani and Katy (not the full albums but a few songs from each ) but agree about Miley + Ed
Lazuli Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Wish Pleasure, Utopia and This Old Dog made it Ruin the Friendship
Ewan Chaos Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Great alberm HMs! Gabriel, Miguel, & Feist I wish made it all the way a bit, but oh well!
sumthintoxic82 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Find Me was good... Ruin The Friendship is so
Pedro Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Damn, Felices Los 4 is so catchy. I generally hate reggaeton but that one goes hard!
theblackestday Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Not Even Happiness is v good. Tried my best to get into Pleasure but couldn't Utopia deserved better
Pink Matter Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 HM (albums): GoldLink, Miguel, Bjork, Feist, and Gabriel put out nice projects Glad Julie Byrne didn't make your albums list Haven't heard any of your HM (songs) so I guess that's good since your saving the best for later. Wicked Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 These didn't make the cut, but they're all enjoyable/worth watching for various reasons. Others Brown Girls (Web Series) Playing House (USA Network, S3) You're the Worst (FXX, S4) Future Man (Hulu, S1) Love & Hip Hop: Total Franchise (VH1) Leah Remini: Scientology & the Aftermath (A&E, S2) Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC, S19; drag me!) Marvel's Runaways (Hulu, S1) Happy! (SyFy, S1) Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (BBC America, S2) Mike Tyson Mysteries ([adult swim], S3) Trial & Error (NBC, S1) Dishonorable Mentions They weren't THE WORST, but they weren't as enjoyable as the HMs. Transparent (Amazon, S4) Chewing Gum (E4, S2) Crashing (HBO, S1)
ATRL Administrator Lee!! Posted December 17, 2017 ATRL Administrator Posted December 17, 2017 Holy crap I totally forgot to watch Castlevania
Mr Greenbird Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 (edited) I enjoyed American Crime, Billions, Brockmire, Power, Playing House. Transparent was okay-ish (Judith Light did hell of performance and loved her) Underground and You're The Worst were pretty boring this year, will watch YTW's final season though.. I dropped SVU for good, but wonder it got improved over last season's one.. I didn't watch Dirk yet, will binge later when the season ends. Edited December 17, 2017 by Mr Greenbird

And truthfully, it's nice to have opposed to all the heavily serialized dramas. You don't have to watch all the episodes, so you can relax + not panic. Benson has a nice arc atm.
Playa Playa Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 (edited) American Crime & Underground They will be appearing on my lists but also towards the bottom. Here for the Brown Girls mention too. I hope the HBO adaption happens and the series becomes even greater. "War for the..." was a great conclusion to that trilogy too. I also watched Mommy Dead and Dearest after seeing you talk about it and was shocked. Edited December 17, 2017 by Playa Playa
