SylMacPer Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 not SAD It's a beautiful song.................. Walk On Water tho
World Eater Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Save as Draft is so cringey but to fair all of the ballad-y songs on Witness are straight up bad Walk on Water should be higher, even Bey couldn't save it.
Jet Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 WOW was a dissapointment wasn’t it Most Girls is cringy and SAD is just bad
prézli Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 SAD is a highlight on Witness........................
ATRL Moderator Samson Posted December 16, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 16, 2017 nnnnn this whole list is accurate as f*ck. keep on going
Red Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Everything Now is my most disappointing album of the year, by far. The more I think about it, the less I like it. Even "Everything Now" the song is growing off of me, and I LOVED that song at first. I do feel like your blurb about Woodstock being the most disappointing album was doing parts of the album a disservice. It's not a great album, sure, but "Rich Friends" stands out even more than "Please Mr. Postman 2017". "Rich Friends" and "Noise Pollution" are the songs I keep coming back to. "Heavy" is bad. I have no shame in admitting that, even with Chester's untimely passing. And "Rx", while not a new low for Theory, is pretty awful.
bluth Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 i like summer bummer as someone who doesn't usually feel lana walk on water is really atrocious lmao. i've never managed to make it past the first chorus in save as draft.

They actually didn't It's a good song, very poppy from them. Agreed with the rest. Heavy is good after 50 times.
Remmy Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Love Hailee but Most Girls is definitely her weakest song so far. But 3 years in a row on this list? Undeserved Save As Draft isn't great but there's 100% worse from Witness, though it is the weakest "single" from this era (unless you count HHH.)
theblackestday Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 DAMN? Wow that's even edgier than me. Summer Bummer is one of the best songs of the year but you tried it Walk on Water is trash though, I'll give you that

ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 16, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 16, 2017 you tried it dragging Summer Bummer tho.
Little Dark Age Posted December 16, 2017 Author Posted December 16, 2017 No. 14 - No. 11 Quote I gotta give it to Weezer. As bad as this song is, it's clear the band went in to it knowing it'd be their biggest hit of the decade. Smart they are. At least they know how to properly pander to the mainstream, some artists can't even properly do that anymore. Quote This song proved two things: Louis Tomlinson is the least talented former member of One Direction and a portal to an alternate universe where demos from 2010 rule the charts is alive and well. Quote Five years ago, P!nk ever being on a worst of the year list was almost unthinkable; she's one of the best mainstream pop stars of the century. And yet, here we are. With literally five unique words in its chorus, "Revenge" is worse than a demo. It's pure dog ****. At least her team she had the good sense to scrap this before we all felt a wave of second-hand embarrassment. Quote Like most of the GP, I can tolerate lots of half baked mainstream rap. The one song that fell into this category in 2017 that I could not was "iSpy". The fact that people had the gall to compare this to the infinitely better "Broccoli" only strengthened my dislike for this completely forgettable, childish crud.
bluth Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 i've never listened to revenge and probs never will but i'll happily take your word for it
theblackestday Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Just Hold On is horrifyingly bad. iSpy is okay.
Little Dark Age Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 No. 10 - No. 6 Quote Much like "iSpy", this feels like it was written by third grader in the year 2010 (ie. references to Geico, Toy Story 3, etc.). Complete with swarths of auto-tune, awful lyrics and a looped instrumental that sounds like it came straight from a shady ice cream truck, "Marmalade" has got being sh*tty down pat. Quote I honestly don't have any words. This song is terrible, annoying and repetitive and yet it's still hard to list here because I've loved quite a bit of Fall Out Boy's prior material. I'm hoping the album redeems this but we all know it won't. Quote What even? I know better than to expect quality lyrics from an EDM song but seriously are you joking? There's not even a coherent story being told . It's just a few two line chunks stitched together into one mutant trash pile and even then some of those are ripped off from their past singles Quote A shame to have to list him here but "Strip That Down" was just downright irritating, being inescapable on radio here for months no matter the format. Hope his SB52 halftime show setlist is better Quote We get it, Ashad is cute. This 'song', however, is not.
potent Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 I agree with Y&M but I also think FOB is trash in general and MSKWYDITD is one of the worst songs of the whole decade so I'll trust you on The Chainsmokers song lol, I use Roses but at this point that would be it.
Remmy Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Break Up Every Night is one of my faves from M...DNO + I'm one of the few that enjoy Young and Menace, but I understand why they're both here. Revenge is the weakest track on BT but I actually think it could've stayed off this list. Just Hold On, iSpy, I'm the One and especially Strip That Down Great picks
Little Dark Age Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 No. 5 - No. 4 Quote I'm mostly indifferent towards 'republican' as an album but this and a few of the other tracks, notably "End Game", were among the contenders for this list. Since there's a one song limit, "Look What You Made Me Do" charted on my weekly list (and is thus excluded) and "End Game" is shaping up to be a 2018 hit, this one made sense to list. I don't even know how to describe this. It's somehow riddled with pop cliches just as most of her recent crop of music is and yet doesn't even seem to appropriately disguise itself as a pop track. And that's my biggest gripe with Taylor's pop output. Her songwriting has gone stale and she's not even trying to construct anything worthwhile over her overdone instrumentals. It just comes across as lazy and basic, which is disappointing given she can obviously do better. Quote I'm sorry I just don't get the appeal and acclaim for this track. In what world is this among the top 10 songs of the year? The overstuffed verses sound terrible over the thumping sample and even worse when contrasted with the simplicity of the chorus. While I applaud the riskiness of a sample of this type, it simply does not work here. And the screeching around the 2:40 mark I'm also not buying that she's on some artistic high either; every other song she released this year was generic and made for radio airplay. I will give her some points for that music video though, which was arguably one of the best among mainstream pop songs this year.
Little Dark Age Posted December 17, 2017 Author Posted December 17, 2017 Quote It's disgusting. That's it. Quote Terrible lyrics, awful vocals, incredibly annoying ad-lib loops, recycled production. You name it and "Issues" has got it. Since this came out at the top of 2017 I was convinced that it'd end up as my year end worst song. In fact, it wasn't until about three weeks ago that I finally decided it was no longer the worst track of the year hence its slot. Some bonus fun facts: As a writer, Julia is also responsible for another two entries this year ("Bad Liar" and "Heavy") as well as several entries from both last year and the year previous. Good luck with the Grammys I guess. And here we are! The most nauseating, headache inducing single of 2017 is... Quote The fact that we let some of Imagine Dragons' best singles go by (ie. "Shots") and yet let this and a ripoff of "Radioactive" become massive top 10 hits across the globe is just despicable. This sounds like Adele's "Send My Love", a robot and an edgy Tumblr kid had some sort of mutant child. No more 'negativity' here. From now on, just the best of the best. That being said, I'm pushing my albums list back and instead the top 100 singles (+ bubbling) is coming up next.
potent Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Issues is... not good, I can't understand how it became one of the biggest female singles this year lol I like Thunder but I can see why it's here, also don't think Shots is that great though...
Lazuli Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Revenge definitely leaves a lot to be desired Idk what they were thinking with Young and Menace It made me lose interest in the entire era Poor Gorgeous! BAD LIAR?? SIS U GOTTA BE KIDDING Thunder is okay tbh
JGibson Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 7/14 Thunder + Feels Like Summer + Issues + Body Like A Back Road + Gorgeous
TheWayWeWere Posted December 17, 2017 Posted December 17, 2017 Revenge is so cringeworthy it's kinda bop tho Gorgeus was ruined by lyrics mostly yeah, I don't get all acclaim for BL either MV is flawless tho
