Top 100 Songs: 5 - 1

5. Selena Gomez & Marshmello - Wolves

Selena ended her year with a personal bang. After dealing with health struggles all year, she saved her best song for last. Everything about this song slays. The guitar riff in the verses, the kick-up in the chorus, the breakdown with Selena's vocals, everything about it just slayed me. This song is adventurous just as the song's lyrics make it out to be. And I'm happy that Selena is on the road to a healthier version of herself. May 2018 be a great year for her.

Final appearance by Selena Gomez. Only appearance by Marshmello

4. Taylor Swift - ...Ready For It?

This damn song. Taylor at her hottest. This is THE Taylor song to get me into my flirtatious side, my confident side, that side of me that wants me to flirt with every guy with the room and the one that wants me to make the moves on the guys I like. This song also is just extremely catchy. That beat, that BRIDGE, the verses. Everything about this song is fire. Taylor SLAYED here.

Sixth of four appearances by Taylor Swift

3. Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do

You guys all probably thought this was number one didn't you? Well it is the most played song of my 2017, but that didn't mean it deserved the number one spot here. Regardless, this was always destined to be in the Top 3 the moment I first heard this. All of the self-aware moments, all of the "f the haters" moments, all of the revenge seeking moments, all of the self-shade, all of the self-parodying. Everything about this showed just how much Taylor works ****ING HARD on her craft and it shows. This song still slays after all this time and the ANTHEM turned me into a swiftie. Though not a hardcore one. I'm still a Katy Kat too.

Final appearance of Taylor Swift

2. Kesha - Praying

I was not expecting Kesha to make a comeback this year. I don't think anyone did. But, when she came back with this song, I knew why she tried so hard to get out of her contract. And knowing her backstory only makes this song even more powerful than it already is. Especially after that high note. All of this emotion and pain that Kesha had to hide for so long finally came out in this song and it couldn't be anymore powerful. This song spent 21 weeks on the Hot 100 (all in the Top 40) despite only peaking at #22. This song connected with people and had she gotten more promo, this would have peaked higher. Kesha won. Luke lost. And Kesha is stronger than ever.

Final appearance of Kesha

1. Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling

After being blocked from #1 in 2012 by Wide Awake and #1 in 2015 by Style, Carly Rae finally comes out on top, with a movie soundtrack song and Emotion left-over that us Carly Rae had been waiting for an official release on for months since the movie snippets came out. This song has so much energy and joyful emotion attached to it that you just can't help but smile, dance, skinny dip, streak, twerk, and any type of happy energy possible. And Carly Rae's vocals are on point and so full of genuine EMOTION that I just know this song had everything it needed to be THE song of 2017.

Only appearance by Carly Rae Jepsen (but at the best spot possible)

Praying should have snatched the first place, but I also love  CTTF :heart2:

Tonight I will do an album spotlight, a final recap and closeout my Best of

Posted

Wait, CTTF is #1? :dies:

It's cute, but I still think it's an 'EMOTION reharsh.' :dies:

Praying is so good, her vocal captivates me so much. :jonny:

RFI + LWYMMD are all great. Had she not tried so hard with the gimmick and started promoting it, they all could've reached #1.

Wolves is good too, I didn't expect that drop, but it's growing on me.

5/5 for the top 5. :clap3:

CTTF is a leftover track from EMOTION. She didn't include it because she felt it was to "cinematic and theatrical." :gaycat2:

OT: YASSS at Cut to the Feeling at #1. :clap3: Also, Taylor, Kesha, and Selena in your top 5! :clap3:
