GokuRed Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I SHALL FINISH. JE VOUS PROMIS. This is the reason why I joined ATRL back in '12. I love the year end charts and can't wait to see what y'all are listening to! This is my sixth year doing it... Not sure how many I've completed but it doesn't matter 'cause ain't nobody checking my old taste. When I joined this site I was a freshman in high school, barely beginning to get into music. Today I work with dozens of artists professionally as a songwriter, mixing engineer, and/or producer. ATRL is where I've met some of my best friends, collaborators, and much more. My taste has evolved from pop and pop rap to EDM to R&B to psychedelic and everything in between. I've even had times when I couldn't get enough of a country or metal song! Here's to an amazing Best Of season. I'm gonna finish this year for sure. Hope y'all enjoy (and know half the artists on here nnn). There is at least one pop girl on my chart's T10 though despite my typical male domination, so make sure to stay tuned! Every update should have something you know, but no promises Top 100 Songs Top 20 Albums Top 20 Videos Top 20 Artists Happy Best Of! Αnt Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The Drake slayage already! Dvsn's second album is cute, I prefer their debut. The Cure not making it into the top 100
alexanderao Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The More Life cuts SJLT FEEL. is one of my least favorites on DAMN., so hopefully there are some other album tracks that are higher!
Diarrhoea Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Bring It Back was actually a megabop and the best song on the album idc what people say
Sunderland 4ever Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I like this: 101. DVSN - "Think About Me" Album was good too. Heard it in November.
JGibson Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 3/15 "Perfect" + "Something Just Like This" + "The Cure"
K$Ellie Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The Cure not even making the top 100, tragic
GokuRed Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 ALBUMS 20-16 20. Mogwai - Every Country's Sun To this day I have no idea why Spotify recommended to me that I listen to ECS. I don't really ever listen to rock besides a few Pink Floyd and Mild High Club tracks so it was quite a surprise. The album is way too long, but every idea is so damn well executed that it deserves this list. I've NEVER heard an album that sounds remotely close to this. If you're interested in psychedelic rock at all, check this project out. You won't be disappointed. 19. dvsn - Morning After I was a HUGE fan of dvsn's last album. It was actually one of my favorites last year. It holds an insane amount of memories to me, especially tracks like "With Me" and "Hallucinations." This year I wasn't in the same type of moods as I was last year so I didn't latch on to Morning After as much, even though the lead single is attached to a very intense memory for me. The album was a very pleasant listen and perhaps it shall mean more to me in the future when I'm able to relate to it more as Sept. 5th did. Check out the album, it's truly great if you're a fan of Toronto R&B. 18. Kodak Black - Project Baby 2 His first album this year disappointed me. The second, however, caught me completely off guard. Coming into it with super low expectations, they were blown away with tracks like "Transportin'" and "Roll In Peace." Kodak leveled up on this album and showed that he's here to stay in the game. I see a long and fruitful career for the guy now that he's beat his cases and is on a work grind matched only by Metro Boomin. His voice is so unique and he's finally found a way to utilize it perfectly - both in rapping and in singing. 17. Jhene Aiko - Trip This album would be much higher on the list if she just had a ****ing editor. The album is about 3 or 4 times longer than it should be due to her putting extra verses and choruses that really don't need to be there in the album. It's hard to listen to in full because it's just so damn long. Each track has the potential to be a 10/10 track, though if they were just shorter. Songs like "Jukai" and "Sativa" are beautifully done and contain amazing melodies and instrumentals. The mixing on this album is also top notch, reminding me of the stellar job done on Blonde or CTRL. If Jhene cut out all the unecessary intros, outros, verses, etc. that clog up the ridiculously long playtime, this album could have been something magical. Still give it a listen though - every track DOES have the potential. Just will have to skip about halfway through each one. 18. DJ Khaled - Grateful I wasn't a fan of Khaled before and I'm not really a fan after, but this album was exceptional. It contained production from some of the best producers in the game and contained some of my favorite features of the year. "Iced Out My Arms" with a collab verse from Migos, a grandfather verse from T.I., and the first 21 Savage verse I ever liked was a huge highlight. Songs like "Don't Quit" were catchy bops that I enjoyed over the late summer and the rest of the album served very on-trend and high intensity hip hop tracks. It's the best entry in a series of collab albums by Khaled and definitely gives him a notice on my radar for future endeavors. I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't get a single verse or beat from Khaled himself though.
Remmy Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Ready to see what you have in store Bubbling Under - Songs: Ed so low Perfect is alright but it's not even top 5 from Divide. Something Just Like This + The Cure Some solid bops!
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 12, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2017 Grateful making it
Pedro Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Not a big fan of this set but I love Gaga's song!
jose168 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Poor the cure. Im surprised you sat through kodaks album so long
Mezik Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Asides from Jhene Aiko, I can't say I have heard of the albums yet. (My flop taste though). The Cure was snubbed, but it's okay. I'm sure an even superior song will be the number one.
Sunderland 4ever Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Some stuff I know here. Every Country's Sun!
Mark Rih Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Quote 114. Drake ft. Giggs - "KMT" 112. Drake ft. Travis Scott & Quavo - "Portland" 111. Kendrick Lamar - "Feel." 106. Drake ft. Giggs - "No Long Talk" I see talent

Tom Vercetti Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Dvsn had some fine tracks and my first impression was that it was better than sept 5th.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The Cure stays on bubbling under TRIP making your album list really one of the best r&b album this year, and yeah, I agree with you about length of some tracks

That Bad Eartha Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I need to put more time into Jhene's album. I listened once when it came out, liked it, and haven't done much with it since. I also want to check out dvsn
