Nervous System by Julia Michaels!

Julia is a fantastic writer, as we all know. She's been the voice behind so many of our favorite artists for years and I was so excited to see her lyrics come to life through her own voice this year! "Issues" was a huge standout track (and it may even make an appearance in an upcoming list ) while "Pink" and "Worst In Me" get me every single time. Truly, in my eyes, one of the most underrated and most unique pop releases of the year. Congrats, Julia!

And now for the kick-off to the songs list! At #20, it's...

Sweet Dreams by BØRNS!

With this single off of his upcoming album, 'Blue Madonna,' BØRNS proved yet again just how genius of an artist he truly is. The song gives me such a good vibe and I found myself singing this in my head for the good last half of 2017. The bass line is impeccable and his vocals sound better than ever on the track. It sounds like something out of a cute indie movie, and has quickly become one of my favorite songs to drive around to. Congrats, BØRNS! Can't wait for the album.

Come back tomorrow to see which album and song take the place of #19 on my countdown!

COLLXTION II by Allie X!

This album was heavily and unrightfully slept on. Allie is one of the most innovative artists in the industry right now, and I love how she reworks already released tracks ("That's So Us" and "Casanova") and tweaks them to perfection before putting them on an album. The way she works and the way that this album was crafted is all so unique and intriguing to me. I love the way she plays with different styles of Pop while still remaining true to the X sound that she's always had. While this did fall a little short compared to COLLXTION I, I still found myself listening to this album with huge heart eyes, not finding a single let-down moment in the entire tracklist.

Why by Sabrina Carpenter!

I cannot believe this song wasn't at least a moderate hit for Ms. Carpenter. The fun vocal patterns, the cute and catchy chorus, the fire-and-ice symbolism in the song – it all, for me at least, meshes together to create a perfect pop song. Aside from my bitterness of the lack of love the song received, I really did find myself listening to this a lot in 2017. This ended up on both my Q3 and Q4 playlist, that's how much I really loved the song. There's something about her look and her sound that has me thinking she is a definite dark horse for these new pop girls to watch out for. If you haven't listened, I don't know why (lol) you're not rushing to stream it this very second. Go, go, go!
