Glassmouth Posted December 30, 2017 Author Posted December 30, 2017 BEST ALBUMS OF 2017 #16 Pond The Weather Quote Honestly, from the first listen I knew this had to be in my favorites of the year, this album is psychedelic but really really easy to listen to, it feels like a more distant version of Tame Impala (by distant I mean that.... well, it doesn't matter, that made no sense but i-said-what-i-said.gif), from the opener 30000 Megatons to the closing title-track, The Weather moves to places these guys' debut album lived within but pushing it to a more straight-forward and 'catchy' way, (this does not mean that they compromised something in order to get more 'easy-to-listen-ish', this feels like an organic progression for me). BEST TRACKS 30000 Megatons, Edge of the World Pt. I & II, The Weather #15 Vince Staples Big Fish Theory Quote While I liked Staples' material pre-Big Fish Theory, this record just catapulted this man to new highs (for me at least), the way the wonky and bonkers productions in some songs like Yeah Right or Homage work in the context of this cool voice rapping about fame and the outcome of it make this a vibey record to listen to, the fact that this is also 36 minutes make it last not much for it to get to be tiresome, it works in the places it should be: it's catchy, it's vibey and it feels completely different compared to much Hip-Hop releases this year, the production choices are great and overall I have no complaints with this album, it justs works. BEST TRACKS Homage, 745, Yeah Right, Rain Come Down

theblackestday Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Big Fish Theory The Weather is good too!
TheWayWeWere Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 Bad Liar making your songs' list No Plan EP was good, but I liked Blackstar more, it was a nice addition tho Drew Barrymore one of my personal favorites this year
Glassmouth Posted December 31, 2017 Author Posted December 31, 2017 (edited) BEST FILMS OF 2017 10. The Big Sick 09. Baby Driver 08. Beach Rats 07. LEGO Batman Movie 06. I, Tonya 05. The Killing of a Sacred Deer 04. Columbus 03. Lady Bird 02. Blade Runner 2049 01. Call Me By Your Name Quote Call Me By Your Name is literally part of me now, the way this film is paced and how it develops makes it seem like you're watching this **** unfold in person, the way Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer work together to bring Elio and Oliver to life is majestic, I have never seen such compelling acting in a LGBT+ film in my life. Sufjan Stevens' music is also, in my opinion, another character in the story, his lyrics and his sounds (in the scenes featured) work and give more than just 'atmosphere' they truly give another meaning to this film. I'm forever grateful for Luca and for everyone involved in this movie, this is one of the most special experiences I've had with a movie and the way they painted this amazing and extraordinary love was more than just respectful: it felt completely genuine, because the rawness and the space that this film creates within me are of great importance. Not only Luca captures what is so far from my truth because, honestly, whatever comes closer than this could very well be mistaken with whatever it's real outside of me, and even if that doesn't make much sense on paper it does in my head lmao. The way the relationship blows in your face and grows with this film's slowburning pace make it intoxicating to watch, I can only picture now traces of emotions I truly felt tasting this piece of cinema, the beauty of its music, the beauty of its acting and the beauty of two complicated lovers that have, like Oliver said, ''a complicated journey'' when explaining Mr Perlman information about the origin of the word 'apricot', so yeah, it's that intimate and distant. This is probably one of the best films released this decade, the honest words and pictures of this piece of art can only be told by words unable to do this justice, all coming down to what we're all, as humans, are alive to feel, we have love, desire, repression, honesty, sadness and joy and most important of all: Armie Hammer's dick in Timothée Chalamet's ass. Finally... to say that I only 'loved' this movie would be a big understatement. This film was not only heartbreaking but I could connect with it in the deepest way, this is an instant favorite, this thing is so raw and so natural, everything feels like it should have been there, everything feels human, natural and completely not forced in any way, shape or form, this is the best film of 2017. ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted January 1, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted January 1, 2018 I'm going to be honest.... I would give CMBYN a 3/5. The ending/last 45 minutes is breathtaking though but it takes a while to get there.
Maddox Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 The Big Sick, Sacred Deer, Baby Driver, Lady Bird, Columbus. We love taste

Glassmouth Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 (edited) (disclaimer: i wrote these last night while i was a bit drunk so excuse me) #59 Los Campesinos! A Slow, Slow Death Quote Uhm, this song is actually perfection, the mood and the happy/sad pacing this song inhabits within is pure and really makes me happy. I love it. #58 Hundred Waters Wave to Anchor Quote Bitch, this song literally SNATCHED my wig and my folicules and even the skin in my skull, bitch I'm a skeleton now, this song is such a BOP, the way the vocals move so effortlessly makes this SO hot but pure and UGGGGGGFGFSDGDGDFGHHGFHHG crap... I love this. #57 Desire Saturday Quote A song that talks about someone not liking saturday (or going to meet someone in saturday? or maybe cheating? or maybe it talks about all of it at the same time? who knows) in such a moody-synth-wave-post-punkish-cute-italians-do-it-better-kinda-of-way is cool af #56 Gorillaz Ascension Quote I need to play this song HIGHER AND LOUDER, this is a BOP and a half and even tho it doesn't feel like a Gorillaz song per se I have to say that this is enjoyable as hell and one of the few highlights in Humanz #55 GFOTY Friday Night Quote This was released on Soundcloud like decades ago but since it was just released in Spotify in 2017 I'm including it here because it's MY LIST.... anyway, this is the perfect anthem for my drunk ass, I love sucking random d*ck at the club while this is playing (I've never done it [with this song in particular] but would be lovely to do so). #54 Ibeyi Deathless Quote A spiritual bop, my *** and my soul just comes out of my body and does satanic rituals to this epic song, the choruses, the sax, these sisters' vocals... what a good bop. #53 KWAYE Sweetest Life Quote Uhm, what a good pop bop, I kinda cry and dance at the same time with this one because it reminds me of a guy I used to love (and I lowkey still do but whatevs) but this is super cool, like the vocals are SUPER CLEAN, bitch is serving in that aspect and when the chorus hits those wonky synths come too and BIIIIIIIITCH i lose it #52 Paramore Hard Times Quote The first time I heard this I was like ''Talking Heads ha impact'' and yah, this is amazing, this is refreshing for a band like Paramore (one of the most basic rock bands I've ever heard) and a good bop, Hayley's vocals sound good as always (she's an amazing vocalist) and this is funky and quirky, we love her #51 Father John Misty So I'm Growing Old on Magic Mountain Quote This was not my favorite at first listen and to be honest with y'all when I saw this was almost 10 minutes before listening to the record for the first time I was like ''bitch better be good'' but the more I listen to this the more I get trapped in its feeling and in its sound, this is so cute and melancholic and nostalgic and beautiful overall, one of Daddy Johnny's best songs #50 Charlotte Gainsbourg Deadly Valentine Quote That bassline with those synths AND Charlotte's sexy vocal delivery? YES M'AM I WANT IT, I wanna make out with a guy on feb 14 while this is playing and after it ends I would just stab him and be like ''im ur deadly valentine, son of a bitch'' or something (that makes no sense whatsoever but I still would) #49 The Marías Dejate Llevar Quote I was surprised by this band, the sound is super soft and chill and kinda funky, and this song is SO sweet and the spanish lyrics just add up, it makes this even sexier for some reason. #48 Goldfrapp Anymore Quote While I think this is not the best track on Silver Eye this is the best BOP on the record, I can't help but head bang the **** out of this song while I dance like a stripper or something, we love a p*ssy shaking bop #47 Lana Del Rey Love Quote Bitch this is my jam, this song sparked again that love (no pun intended) I had for Lana back in 2012, this is kinda nostalgic and one of lana's best singles imo plus this is relatable as hell bc im young and in love and sh*t #46 Heaven Lock & Key Quote Simple but beautiful, it's not a complicated song but it feels like one of those songs a beautiful singer would perform at a bar while wearing a cute red dress or something in a Twin Peaks episode or some sh*t #45 Pond Edge of the World Pt. 2 Quote AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH this song is cosmic as hell, it's SOOoOoOoOoOOo GOOD and that's all i have to say about it Edited January 5, 2018 by Glassmouth
