I was so embarrassed I skipped 2016 completely. This year will be much more manageable with the top 15 tracks, top 5 albums and top 5 music videos. Im really excited for the lists!

My 2015 list was a mess too, I didn't prepare anything in advance, mostly because I wasn't really active until the Best Of section had opened
Cannon Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) Music Videos Honorable Mention - Sleigh Bells: And Saints - I love the vivid imagery in this video. Very ominous but courageous at the end. #5 - SZA: Drew Barrymore - The Drew Barrymore cameo is perfect and I love the vibe and feelings this video portrays. Edited December 12, 2017 by Cannon
Diarrhoea Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 And Saints is a cute video, shame about the music x

GokuRed Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Drew Barrymore was an incredible video Super glad to see it on here!
Cannon Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Music Videos #4 - Julien Baker: Appointments - This video is really simple, but I like how subdued it is. Julien really shines here. #3 - Lana Del Rey: Love - Lana has one of the most iconic videographies of the 2010's and this music video contributes to that legacy. I'm a big fan of the space theme. #2 - Dua Lipa: New Rules - I love the story told in the music video. I really like how the backup dancers play an integral part of the story. They aren't objects and they illustrate why it's important to have people you can trust around you. - My favorite Music Video of the year will be revealed tomorrow. It's a HUGE surprise.
World Eater Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Nice list so far Love especially New Rules, Appointments and And Saints. Perched to see #1
Roberto Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Love and New Rules. Love is also one of mt favorite songs from this year. It'll be really high in my countdown.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Drew Barrymore, both song and video SCALPED me a little Love is so magical New Rules
Cannon Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) #1 - Little Mix: Touch - On first watch, I despised this music video. I even lambasted it in the MV thread on ATRL. But as time went on I came to appreciate the girls' beauty. This eventually became my favorite pop video of the year (since it was the one I watched the most). It's just so much fun to watch! Director X truly is a gem of a director. Edited December 14, 2017 by Cannon
Cannon Posted December 16, 2017 Author Posted December 16, 2017 Singles #15 - Empress Of: "Go to Hell" - I felt like this track was really slept on. Empress Of explores the importance of ignoring our detractors and not letting them bring us down. #14 - The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die: "Marine Tigers" - The music is so beautiful and the lyrics are very meaningful. #13 - Kendrick Lamar feat. Zacari: "LOVE." - Zacari's voice is beautiful. This track encapsulates romantic feelings pretty well. #12 - Vince Staples: "Big Fish" - Great beat and great hook by Vince, one of my favorite rappers. #11 - SZA: "Drew Barrymore" - My favorite song during my first listen of Ctrl. Her voice and melodies are so unique. Truly a standout.
World Eater Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Great picks, I especially like LOVE. and Big Fish! Go to Hell was cute but I expected something more from Miss Rodriguez
Cannon Posted December 22, 2017 Author Posted December 22, 2017 Singles #10 - Fatima Al Qadiri: "Alkahaf" - I'm a huge Fatima Al Qadiri fan. The synths and theme here is superb! I love how sinister it sounds. The whole EP is great too. #9 - Julien Baker: "Turn Out the Lights" - I don't have a lot to say about this one. Julien is amazing! #8 - Selena Gomez: "Bad Liar" - The song was done dirty by the GP, but it is one of her best. It's so catchy and fresh. I don't know if I'll ever get sick of it. #7 - Yo Gotti, Mike WiLL Made It feat. Nicki Minaj: "Rake it Up" - Nicki's verse makes this song. A great example of her prowess. #6 - SZA: "Love Galore" - True vocal acrobatics. #5 - Beach House: "Chariot" - I love Victoria's voice here and the lyrics are beautiful. A really solid track from them.
World Eater Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Chariot was really nice but I'm glad it didn't make either of their two albums Bad Liar
Cannon Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 Singles #4 - Kendrick Lamar: "PRIDE." - On first listen, this song stood out to me so much. The lyrical content is great. #3 - Lorde: "Liability" - This song sound simple but there's a lot of layers both musically and lyrically. Really beautiful and emotional #2 - Julien Baker: "Appointments" - Another appearance by Miss Baker. The ending makes this song. #1 - Kendrick Lamar: "HUMBLE." -
World Eater Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Liability being so high Two of Kendrick's songs being in the top 5
