Excellent albums but sorry but I can’t deal at those best and worst song choices, they’re all backwards :deadbanana:

Thank you sis, but are NMO and FEAR. the best songs for you in those albums? :biblio:

Aromanticism, Ctrl, DAMN. :clap3:

Pure Comedy is too much for me

Slowdive is magnificent :worship2: And you got the same ups and downs for the album as me :keir:

It makes me so happy to see people stanning the Slowdive album, I just can't help but think it's an amazing comeback.  :keir:

I get why people don't like it tbh, hopefully Daddy will redeem himself with his next album :alexz2:

I really do hate FJM :rip: but whatever, at least it isn't higher :eli:

Slowdive, Kung Fu Kenny, SZA, Forest Swords, Moses Sumney, Zola :worship2: also I still need to listen to Protomartyr lol

Poor Farmer John Misery doesn't deserve all this hate :'(

Yes you need to is their best album imo:alexz:, have you listened to their previous ones? They all are amazing

yeah, Father John Misty is unbearble but wow, what a first update :clap3:

Faves are Compassion, 1992 , Okovi, Damn and Slowdive

Damn I must be the first one to list FJM :deadbanana: yas at Princess Nokia, truly the new queen of rap.

finally update

CTRL is obviously slays :jonny: love it so much, should've been higher

DAMN has some really highlights, but I didn't really like it as whole

It really does but some of the songs left a bit to be desired imo. Still clocks most of the other Pop/R&B releases this year.

It's at #5, I LOVE it tho, it's just that so many insanely good albums were released in 2010 :jonny:

Love the update :jonny: Kendrick, Protomartyr, Moses, Slowdive, Zola and Forest Swords :alexz:

Orc was pretty forgettable iirc :katie: Far from being bad, though, in fact all of their releases are solid at worst. FJM tho...

KSGQT9N.gif

It was, only 2013 remains superior IMO :alexz:. I had to listen to Orc like three times to get what was going on, but it's energetic and somewhat uplifting, but like Pure Comedy, I understand why some people may not dig it.

And omg you all are making me feel like a weirdo cuz I liked the Father John Misty record.

Anyway thank y'all for the replies and I'll be updating the next 5 spots (20-16) in a few :flower:

20. Blanck Mass / World Eater
ELECTRONIC / INDUSTRIAL
Even when this album doesn't have the dance flavor Dumb Flesh had it's a super intense record too, super industrial, mixing that with IDM and even some vaporwave sounds, the result is a brilliant industrial album.
▲ Minnesota / Eas Fors / Naked
Hive Mind

l

19. Foxygen / Hang
GLAM ROCK
After the mess that their last album was I was super worried about Foxygen's future however when they started teasing this album I was shocked by the Brodway-ish sound they had adopted, the result ended up being a utterly theatrical record that is super fun and dramatic to listen to. Sam delivers some of his best vocal performances on this album too.
▲ Trauma
Rise Up (If I had to choose one)

l

18. Tyler, The Creator / Flower Boy
HIP-HOP
Tyler's best album to date is his most personal too, the verses are amazing and so are the guests on this album. He sounds more mature and every song on this album is addictive as hell.
▲ Boredom
N/A

l

17. The Mountain Goats / Goths
INDIE ROCK
While this album is loosely thematic you can really sense what TMG were going for, lyrically the album is amazing, the vocal performances are absolutely glorious, and goddamn the little use of guitar is admirable. This is one of those album that warms my heart every single time I listen to it.
▲ Rain In Soho
N/A

l

16. Guerilla Toss / GT Ultra
ART ROCK
This is album is super fun, unlike GT's previous records the production here is clearer, Kassie's performances bold, all that plus the tinged new-wave sound makes this record one of the most enjoyable records of this year. This is actually one of my favorite projects of 2017, I only wish it was longer.
▲ Betty Dreams of Green Men

Um, Fear is most definitely the best on DAMN and nowhere does it belong to being worst :biblio: and the fact you claim that while saying you prefer TPAB further makes this odd :biblio: NMO is just an interlude so I ignored it, but Soak is the worst on Okovi :shakeno: Also Raw Language is the second best song on Compassion and Protomartyr's choices are backward :shakeno:

OT: World Eater and Flower Boy are fantastic :alexz:

Love Hang, Flower Boy and World Eater :clap3:

I've heard that Goths was good but The Mountain Goats have released SO MANY albums and I've only listened to All Hail West Texas and Tallahassee (which were alright but didn't do much for me) so I'm not sure when or if I will find time to check it out :rip:

Right?! Such an intense experience! GT Ultra is honestly one of the most underrated albums of this year, you should check out the singles first! Those hit pretty hard xx :fan:

I agree, most of them are really fantastic doe. I would avoid listening to Transcendental Youth, Beat the Meat, The Sunset Tree and Get Lonely tbh, good records but not defining albums. I've been a Goats fan since like 2006 so I have a soft spot for their music always but Goths is perhaps the best album they have released of this decade.

15. Kirin J. Callian / Bravado
ART POP I GUESS? A MIX-BAG OF EVERY POP MOVEMENT
Bravado is a super fun record, and a super fun listen too, it deals with topics like masculinity, drugs, love, etc. but with an amusing point of view, sometimes even sounding like a comedy album.
▲ S.A.D.
Down 2 Hang

l

14. King Krule / The OOZ
ART ROCK
Archy hit hard with this one, a diverse record filled with jazz instrumentation, raw and powerful vocals and intense emotions that only Archy can excel at doing.
▲ Dum Surfer
Lonely Blue

l

13. Sampha / Process
R&B
I've been waiting for this album for years, but now that it's here I can see it was worth the wait, fantastic lyrics that show Sampha's raw emotions.
▲ Kora Sings
n/a

l

12. BROCKHAMPTON / Saturation Triology
HIP-HOP
This fantastic trilogy shocked the world this year, not only because of how this collective is formed but also because the insane production behind it, the complex topics the lyrics deal with and much other stuff. Super refreshing sound for the rap industry.
▲ Gold / Gummy / Boogie
n/a

l

11. Alvvays / Antisocilites
JANGLE POP
Wow did Alvvays come through with this one. I just can't stop listening to this album, is super catchy, the melodies are fantastic, and Mollie's performances melt my heart. One hell of a indie pop album.
▲ In Lollipop (Ode to Jim)

The OOZ didn't do much for me :katie: I feel like it was there was too much of everything and the whole thing was unfocused. Love Emergency Blimp and Dum Surfer tho :heart2:

Kirin's persona is, erm, really unique. Bravado was a solid record, the title track is amazing :clap3:

Process and SATURATION trilogy are my favorites from this set, although I also really enjoyed Antisocialites!

I was gonna rank them separately but I felt they are way too close together and that also gave 2 other hoes to have a spot on the list :fan:

I didn't like the ooz much at first too, but when I saw the whole work behind it, it started to grow on me. Kirin is a freak I saw him live in September and he even got naked on stage lmao, the title track is a spiritual experience tbh. Process was initially in my top 10, but I feel the album got kind of dated the more I listened to it, still fantastic doe. :fan:

even when this **** is a flop, I hope to be posting the first top 10 (10 and 9) albums in a few momentos.:flower:

I didn't really like Kirin's album, and believe me. I had high hopes.

I'm currently checking the second BROCKHAMPTON album and it was good. Loved the first Saturdation. Also, I enjoyed Process and Antisocialites (looked forward to that one so much this year).

POST-PUNK
Holy **** did Idles left me bald with this album. It's political, is aggressive but is also catchy as hell and Joe's performances in every single song are pure fire. The sound may not be the most innovative but is a fantastic homage to 80's punk scene.
▲ Mother / Well Done / White Privilege
n/a

EXPERIMENTAL
When he started teasing this album with "Piel," and I listened that his voice was now featured was a massive plus for me, the record ended up being amazing, and even with instrumental tracks, Arca showed not only what a fantastic producer and singer he can be but also an excellent songwriter.
▲ Fugaces / Desafío / Anoche

Oh yes. Brutalism was my jam during wintertime. I have to say I kind of lost interest in the last third of the album, for the first tracks are just too awesome. The rest just couldn't keep up. Not a big fan of Arca, though.

Brutalism is amazing, one of my friends said it was his AOTY :chick1: Arca's s/t was also v nice, Desafío and Anoche were also the highlights for me

Brutalism was a nice debut. Wondering if they're gonna advance further.
