Also I have been super busy these past days, so I hadn't had the time to post the other lists, so I thought I would post my favorite album of each year of this decade in the meantime.

ZwJP6TT.png

2010: Joanna Newsom's super ambitious and diverse project; "Have One One Me"

2011: The energy / rage charged debut album by Iceage "New Brigade"

2012: Fiona Apple's "The Idler Wheel..."  a more than worthy comeback.

2013: Arcade Fire's so called dance record "Reflektor", super fun, super quirky, I live. (Afterlife remains to be a highlight of this decade for me)

2014: Swans 2 hours long album is everything you love / loved by them, Post-Rock at its best.

2015: A heartbreak album, Björk's vocals, orchestra and Arca; nothing could go wrong with this one.

2016: ANOHNI's vision of the present and the future is as sad as it is hopeful.

Do you stan / Do you hate ? :flower:

- The Idler Wheel is perhaps my fave out of that list, I could just listen to it all day long. Hot Knife is that career highlight :alexz:

- People were mad they were going more and more "pop" each time, but is a really ambitious album and even David Bowie himself approved!

- Indie experimental queens :clap3:

just kidding, but seriously I just saw your list and twin-taste :heart2:

Judging by your avatar I can guess Hopelessness was your #1 last year too? :gaycat5:

So we're finally here! Took me long enough to organize this and be happy with the order... but here it is the TOP 30-21 albums of this year. All of these are fantastic, stunning, shocking albums that are DEFINITELY worth every minute of your time.

l

dGU0yyw.png

l

30. Forest Swords / Compassion
ELECTRONIC
This album is brilliant, it's pretty much a homage to the first music on earth, mixing primal beats with ambient dub, just fantastic.
▲ The Highest Flood
Raw Language

l

29. Moses Sumney / Aromanticism
ART POP
A dreamy album with tons of references to love and the inability to do so, brilliant vocal performances and lush arrangements. Only wish more of the material was new.
▲ Doomed
Man on the Moon (Reprise)

l

28. SZA / CTRL
R&B
One of the best R&B albums that came out this year, and definitely an improvement for SZA, many highlights and glorious vocal deliveries.
▲ Love Galore
Go Gina

l

27. Princess Nokia / 1992 Deluxe
HIP-HOP
I was really indifferent towards this as an EP but now as an extended version this showcases one of the best underground rap releases of the past years.
▲ Brujas
Flava

l

26. Zola Jesus / Okovi
ART POP
While I don't think this is Zola's best albums I do think is her boldest material yet, the arrangements and production are highlights of this album rather than her vocals, sadly.
▲ Soak
NMO

l

25. Protomartyr / Relatives In Descent
POST-PUNK
Disjointed at some points but when it hits GOD it does, this album has some of the best performances Protomartyr has ever done.
▲ Don't Go to Anacita
The Chuckler

l

24. Father John Misty / Pure Comedy
FOLK
I know many people hate this album, but the lyricism on this thing goddamn Josh was pissed and he shows it with really clever lines and the orchestra behind this is dope too. The length tho however is a bit too much sometimes.
▲ Pure Comedy
So I'm Growing Old On Magic Mountain

l

23. Oh Sees / Orc
GARAGE ROCK
This album is filled with energy and rage, John's vocals are striking and the guitars are NUTS on this thing, absolutely one of their best albums. One of the most exciting records I listened to this year.
▲ Animated Violence
Cooling Tower

l

22. Kendrick Lamar / DAMN.
HIP-HOP
The first Kendrick album that isn't in my top 10! After the slay and half that TPAB was; I was kinda worried to see what Kendrick was going to do next, while this isn't as exciting or as innovative as K's previous records it's a pretty solid record still, and we all love a successful K. Dot.
▲ ELEMENT.
FEAR.

l

21. Slowdive / Slowdive
DREAM POP
This album is pure gold, from the arrangements to the production to the vocals, lord I just love this album. Obviously, this isn't the average Slowdive from the 90's "everybody" loves so much but this record is sold as hell, and shows the power and ability this band still has, I just adore to see how this group has aged and to see it was for good.
▲ No Longer Making Time
Falling Ashes

It's at #5, I LOVE it tho, it's just that so many insanely good albums were released in 2010 :jonny:

Love the update :jonny: Kendrick, Protomartyr, Moses, Slowdive, Zola and Forest Swords :alexz:

Orc was pretty forgettable iirc :katie: Far from being bad, though, in fact all of their releases are solid at worst. FJM tho...
