Rotunda Posted January 10, 2018 Author Posted January 10, 2018 5. The Weekend - SZA Quote Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and FridayI just keep him satisfied through the weekendYou're like 9 to 5, I'm the weekendMake him lose his mind every weekend 4. Don't Take The Money - Bleachers Quote You steal the air out of my lungs, you make me feel itI pray for everything we lost, buy back the secrets Your hand forever's all I wantDon't take the moneyDon't take the money 3. Do Not Disturb - Drake Quote Distractions will do you in, in the truest sense Especially people that want to lecture me And frame it like they just want the best for me Or they check for me, whatever splits it up So there's more for them and there's less for me They don't know they got to be faster than me to get to me No one's done it successfully 2. Writer in the Dark - Lorde Quote I am my mother's child, I'll love you 'til my breathing stopsI'll love you 'til you call the cops on meBut in our darkest hours, I stumbled on a secret powerI'll find a way to be without you, babe 1. Sorry Not Sorry - Demi Lovato Quote 'Cause the grass is greener under meBright as technicolor, I can tell that you can seeAnd yeah, I know how bad it must hurt to see me like thisBut it gets worse (wait a minute)

Rotunda Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 BEST ALBUMS OF 2017 5. TELL ME YOU LOVE ME - DEMI LOVATO 4. SWEETSEXYSAVAGE - KEHLANI 3. CTRL - SZA 2. SATURATION II - BROCKHAMPTON 1. MELODRAMA - LORDE
Rotunda Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 NEW DISCOVERIES 5. MICK JENKINS Though none of his songs appear on this countdown, Mick Jenkins has an incredible discography. His rap reaches depths that other artists couldn't even attempt to come near. His brutal honestly about topics such as depression, racism, and love, make him an important artist to digest. Notable Tracks: Drowning, I Know (w/ Kirk Knight), Fall Through 4. Vince Staples While Big Fish Theory demonstrated Vince Staples' quirky nature (and earned him two spots on my countdown), some of his best work is seen in his previous projects such as Summertime '06 and Hell Can Wait. In them, Vince Staples presents a unique dive into urban living and survival. Notable Tracks: 3230, Jump off the Roof, Limos 3. BROCKHAMPTON(& Kevin Abstract) Self-described boy-band Brockhampton has already revolutionized the rap landscape by broaching topic that almost seem unnatural to rap as a genre. In a field consistently criticized for its emphasis on hypersexuality and hypermasculinity, Brockhampton pushes back on tropes that have influenced the genre for years, instead choosing to embrace queerness and raw emotion while discussing topics that extend far beyond those discussed in the typical Top 40 rap song in 2017. More specifically, gay member Kevin Abstract has made it important to highlight his experiences as a gay black rapper within his solo and group work. Notable Tracks: Empty (Kevin), QUEER, GUMMY, JUNKY 2. NAO Despite the resurgence of R&B music this year, one name has been somewhat ignored in the shuffle. The artist NAO combines infectious rhythms and a unique voice to produce music that may not sound like the prototypical star, but still hits you all the same. NAO simultaneously appears to be a throwback act that makes music reminiscent of old-school R&B, while also providing an Electronic bend to her music that seems entirely new. NAO is one of my best discoveries of 2017. Notable Tracks: Get To Know Ya, Nostalgia, Bad Blood, Apple Cherry 1. Kehlani Due to all of the drama surrounding Kehlani's life prior to the release of SweetSexySavage, part of me did not feel like buying into the hype and giving her album the attention it deserved once it came out. Despite that, when I found myself taking the bus home from college one night, I had four hours to kill and decided to spend it diving through her album. This was one of the best decisions of 2017 for me as I discovered an artist prime for the spotlight that understands how to mix R&B and Pop while carving out a distinct personality for herself. Notable Tracks: Distraction, Undercover, CRZY, In My Feelings, Do U Dirty
