Tom Vercetti Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Next up is the 200 song countdown. Be on the look out.
Alldeezy Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 im mad at myself i dunno any of these albums
Tom Vercetti Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Updating later today with 15 songs (#200-#186) Should be fun (and slightly chill).
That Bad Eartha Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Only heard the Bowie ep, but definitely will check some of these out.
Αnt Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Excited for the songs! Don't really listen to much EPs.
Vilppu Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Listened to the #1 EP and the only thing I managed to make out of it is how it ended like two seconds after it started ff but it seemed interesting Rina's a great choice too obviously.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 200. Rex Orange County ft Benny Sings - Loving Is Easy (indie pop) Spoiler A free-spirited tune with a bright morning day instrumental from an artist you may be familiar with if you heard Tyler, The Creator's flowerboy. I like how simple the chorus is. 199. Zack Villere - Bloo (Art pop) Spoiler For someone who could be mistaken as talentless, he can occasionally make pleasant song arrangements. Bloo also references Tyler and the 2nd half of the song leans toward Frank Ocean's high pitched vocal style. 198. Matt Martians ft Syd & Steve Lacy - Dent Jusay (alt r&b) Spoiler This reminds me something The Internet would make as an interlude. Oh how I wish it was longer and without the outro. 197. FKJ - Skyline (neo-soul) Spoiler Loving that piano play and overall production. Smooth stuff. 196. Katy Perry - Tsunami (Pop) Spoiler I would've preferred if she pursued this route more often. Decent production, inoffensive lyrics and mellow enough for replayability. IIRC, she said Tame Impala was one of her favorite artists, so perhaps some of that inspiration went onto here. Slight reach? Idk. 195. Jens Lekman - How We Met, the Long Version (Indie pop/nu-disco) Spoiler Jens gives his explanation on how relationships are created while borrowing a disco sound. One of the standouts from his album. 194. Channel Swimmer - Look Up, Paradise (Plunderphonics/Chillwave) Spoiler This would be a nice The Avalanches B-Side. 193. Oneohtrix Point Never - Leaving The Park (Electronic) Spoiler Taken from the Good Time OST, Leaving the Park details a progressing journey through its synths and gradual buildup. Excuse the artwork btw, I hate it as well.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 192. Unsane - Distance (noise rock) Spoiler The chorus is oddly clean & catchy for me while the song retains heaviness and this track differentiates itself from the rest of the album its from due to that aspect. 191. Gabriel Garzón-Montano - Crawl (neo-soul) Spoiler One of my favorites from him. It has a slight old school feel while still sounding current. 190. Moire ft DRS - Bootleg (Techno/House) Spoiler A steady rhythmic techno track with contribution of compelling Grime vocals. 189. Jadu Heart x Mura Masa - U Never Call Me (Alt R&B/Electronic) Spoiler Jadu Heart always providing those jai paul vibes. I still have my criticisms towards Mura Musa but he worked here. 188. Your Old Droog ft Danny Brown - Grandma Hips (Boom Bap/Hip Hop) Spoiler The production really suits Danny's guest feature and both Droog and Danny went hard on this mf doom inspired track. 187. Yung Lean - Red Bottom Sky (Cloud Rap/Alt R&B) Spoiler With that suspiciously ear candy production and Yung's attempts at the melodic route, Red Bottom is a bop. 186. Wiley ft Manga - Laptop (Grime Rap) Spoiler Speaking of catchy production, wtf was this not a single? Hit worthy material. His promotion and stanning of MacBooks is kinda amusing too.
Wicked Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Hopefully this isn't Oneohtrix' last appearance.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 I placed genres next to the songs to let you know if you're interested in/familiar with the tracks. List so far: Spoiler 200. Jens Lekman - How We Met, the Long Version 194. Channel Swimmer - Look Up, Paradise 193. Oneohtrix Point Never - Leaving The Park 192. Unsane - Distance 191. Gabriel Garzón-Montano - Crawl 190. Moiré ft DRS - Bootleg 189. Jadu Heart x Mura Masa - U Never Call Me 188. Your Old Droog ft Danny Brown - Grandma Hips 187. Yung Lean - Red Bottom Sky 186. Wiley ft Manga - Laptop

Earthgang - Rags The Altantic Rap Duo EarthGang released a duo of EPs this year of their supposed trilogy, Rags and Robots, and while both were near quality I felt Rags had the slight edge due to consistency. I haven't heard of them before this year so this was one of my discoveries. I saw the features list (J.I.D, Mick Jenkins) and was pretty much interested on checking this out. I wasn't disappointed. I knew you had taste.
Vilppu Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 BLESS you for genres. No idea what a boom bap is but that sing is a bop, How We Met, the Long Version; Look Up, Paradise; Crawl were nice but top 200 feels about right and Distance's chorus wasn't really pleasant enough to justify the rest for me.
bluth Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 i haven't heard of many of these but i like the sound of the matt martians and the channel swimmer tracks! i think i listened to the fkj album and it was cute

Just a style of hip hop, but I edited a further clarification. For Distance, guess it's just a niche taste. It made it one of the memorable tracks from Sterilize for me. 35 minutes ago, Slut said: sdkagskg even tho I made the thread for that OPN ost album, I never got around to fully listening to it dd; will definitely try to later tho You may like it. It's pretty cinematic in sound.
