Mark Rih Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Kelela #1? Oh wow talent snapped. Kendrick did great too amazing best of as usual Tom. My fave discoveries this year were Majid Jordan (I always sleep on them lol) and Thinking of a Place, such a monumental song
Pink Matter Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 (edited) Nice set of HMs. Majid, Gabriel, Toro, Syd, and Yellow Days () are all great Albums: What a set Amazing top 4 + LCD Soundsystem is also fantastic Didn't care much for Kelly on my first listen but I'll queue it for later to see if my opinions change. All in all, this was a wonderful Best Of to follow with lots of great content Edited January 6, 2018 by Pink Matter
Playa Playa Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I'm also surprised at Take Me Apart topping but why should I be? It's incredible and Kelela deserves it! Great Top 10 I like how you laid out why you put Vince over Kendrick. Two great rap albums though.
Dom Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Kelela yasss, she is amazing, absolutely great, Kendrick is better than Vince tho, shame..

Not sure how that would work I did a playlist for songs tho. U don't even know my number one, stop shading yourself. Don't forget the fact that the album of 2018 is to be released on Feb 2.

Remmy Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Top 40 Songs: Drugs Not among my N1A favorites, but still a great one. Pretty much the same for Homemade Dynamite Top 75 Albums: Wish I could say I enjoyed Pop 2. I'm actually not against the genre, it's just that the execution was really off. The features were also generally unhelpful. Meanwhile, CollXtion II on the other hand Lust for Life has some VERY strong tracks, but it gets weighed down by a few weak links. Melodrama is incredible, of course
keerbyriri Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 (edited) Take Me Apart Big Fish Theory Damn Edited January 7, 2018 by keerbyriri
Same Ol' Mistakes Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 #6-1 albums are great great countdown as usual, Tom!
Vilppu Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Fantastic top 10, Kelela is a deserving winner and Vince, Kendrick, National, LCD and Chelsea were amazing too.
Lazuli Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Kelela snatching your #1 LCD and The National back to back They really delivered it this year and your descriptions for them are perfect
Price of Fame Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 This Kelly Lee Owens album... are you a Halfaxa Stan, Tom?
Lucas32 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Damn, I'll have to listen to Take me apart once again, so many people raving about it on here while it mostly left me uninterested. Kendrick, The National and LCD Soundsystem Chelsea Wolfe getting some more well-deserved acclaim is nice too see. Great lists overall Tom!
theblackestday Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 (edited) Ahhh we have the same AOTY (don't @ me). Talent actually won. Love everything you said about it The rest of the top 10 is excellent as well, especially Damn and Big Fish Theory. Did not expect to see Kelly here Will check out the two I haven't heard ofc (Dust and 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time) Some of the HMs deserved better but great countdown as expected Edited January 7, 2018 by theblackestday
